KUALA LUMPUR, 26 August – At a press conference today, the organiser of the BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon (BSNPNM) announced a major rebrand of the city’s largest annual night marathon by introducing a new, refreshed logo identity and adding the 5km Glow Run as one of its offered categories.
BSN Deputy Chief Executive, Siew Kin Meng said the rebrand exercise is timely following an amazing response from marathon enthusiasts when all 12,000 places were taken up in less than 10 days after it opened for registration on 22 June.
“BSN is proud to become the exclusive Title Sponsor of the BSNPNM for the 5th year running. The new logo represents evolution and modernisation as well as our long term commitment to this event,” he said during the BSNPNM Press Conference and Hi- Tea today.
Siew added that the new logo has a minimalist, clean, strong and modern design to create a striking new look. The font is bold and solid which symbolises the maturing of the event. It can stand on its own and be recognisable.
“Meanwhile, the black colour looks powerful and represents strength, power and authority, while the icon of a human running and usage of font are in alignment to show unity, progression and balance,” he said.
Siew said BSNPNM is the only marathon that provides runners with insurance coverage during the event, offering them protection during the competition until they are safely back home after the race. The coverage is by BSN’s sister company Gibraltar BSN.
Speaking about the new 5km Glow Run, Siew said a total of 2,500 runners have signed up for the category and each runner will receive a glow stick, glow glasses and glow shoe laces for the race.
“The 5km Glow Run route will be lit and decorated with glowing lights with LED lighting cones placed along the route, and the BSN cheer team will also be placed at Jambatan Sri Gemilang just to add some joy and excitement for the runners and spectators,” he added.
Apart from the 5km Glow Run, BSNPNM 2015 will also include a full marathon (42.2 km), a half marathon (22.1 km) and a 10km Corporate CSR Run.
“The rebrand exercise reflects an effort to better embody the race’s evolution to a world class running event in line with some of the world’s best-known races,” Siew said.
In addition, the BSNPNM 2015 is also set to raise funds for the Department of Paediatrics in four hospitals, namely Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Selayang, Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang.
“At BSN, we believe in caring for the less fortunate, and helping to raise funds is one way to do this. We also want to build meaningful relationships, such as by supporting activities that people care about, including popular events like the Putrajaya Night Marathon,” he said.
The four beneficiaries for this year’s fundraising, through the 10km Corporate CSR Run, will receive donations from the collection of entry fees in the corporate bodies category. In 2014, a total of RM100,000 was collected through the participation of corporates and donated to the Persatuan Dyslexia Malaysia (PDM).
