Ride with Ease with Rideasy.my, Malaysia’s first online car sharing service provider

Rideasy.my, Malaysia’s first online car sharing service provider, today soft-launched their web application at one of KL’s most hottest hangouts, APW Bangsar.

Officiating their soft launch today, Rideasy’s CEO Nizran Kudus and his partner, Rizal Mukti, presented prizes to winners of their survey contest that was held throughout the month of September and October.

The grand prize winner won an all-expense paid trip to Hard Rock Hotel, Penang, inclusive of their ride from Kuala Lumpur. Salawati Binti Usoh, (44) will be heading up north for her trip in December.

“I am extremely happy to have won this prize from Rideasy and am so excited to go on this special trip with my husband…” said Salawati.

Also in attendance was Omar Hatmi, MD of Active Telematics, Rideasy’s telematics partner, gave a presentation on how his company is involved in Rideasy’s online fleet management. Thereafter, Nizran gave a short presentation on what Rideasy is about as well as to premier the company’s corporate video.

Rideasy.my, a Malaysian company that started in August 2016, is a new enterprise that offers a user-friendly, secure and comprehensive online platform for users to share and borrow cars from its community members. For car owners, this will be a good platform to earn some extra income, and as for borrowers, it will be a suitable alternative transportation platform to opt from especially those seeking to be free of financial commitments of owning and maintaining a car.

With Rideasy, borrowers will have a wide selection of vehicles to choose from, such as sedans, MPVs, SUVs and high-end vehicles, all at an affordable price of up to 30% cheaper than normal market rates.

Furthermore, users will have peace-of-mind as all transactions will be contracted with a sharing agreement and via a strategic partnership with Allianz
Insurance, shared vehicle will be protected with 24/7 nationwide breakdown assistance and personal accident coverage.

“This is an exciting new initiative in transportation in Malaysia, but it is the future as more and more young people, especially millennials, are opting to not own a vehicle due to its depreciating value. Our research showed that the younger generation does not place heavy emphasis on asset ownership, and would rather spend on travel and exploring the world. Rideasy aims to fulfill this need by providing vehicles on-demand. They’ll have the possibility of using a vehicle as needed for either a short term or for a longer period of time, whilst being free from having to bear any associated ownership costs such as hire-purchase, maintenance and so on…”, said Mr. Nizran.

To find out more about Rideasy or to sign up, do check out their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/rideasy.my/ or their website at www.rideasy.my, or call 03-20119878 to speak to their customer service executives.

Nostalgia Nasi Lemak Charity Dinner: How Nasi Lemak Can End AIDS

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 November 2017 – Malaysians’ shared love of nasi lemak may just be the thing that will help to end AIDS in this country. At least that is what the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) hopes to achieve with its latest project.

Continuing its time-honoured tradition of dinner galas and high society fundraisers, the MAF is set to bring an all-new fine dining experience to the proverbial table.

Nostalgia Nasi Lemak, a nasi lemak-themed charity dinner celebrating the eponymous dish, will offer a first-of-its-kind dinner experience steeped in the nostalgic heritage of Malaysia’s most iconic dish while elevating it to fine dining status – all in support of the fight to end AIDS.

“The idea is to unite people over everyone’s favourite dish while shedding light on a timely issue that affects everyone, specifically the HIV/AIDS situation among women,” said Dato’ Maznah Abdul Jalil, Honorary Treasurer, MAF.

“The trend of new HIV infections among women is showing no signs of slowing down, despite a 50 per cent reduction in overall new cases in the past decade,” she explained.

More alarmingly, housewives – a social group whose HIV risk was previously thought to be extremely low – constituted one-third of the total 12,578 reported female infections.

“Women face heightened levels of HIV risk simply for being who they are. Gender inequality, shame, stigma, and poverty push women away from otherwise readily available lifesaving HIV prevention, treatment, care, and support,” she added.
Taking a leaf out of Betty Saw’s cookbook

Puan Sri Betty Saw (right) dedicates proceeds of the second edition of her 2013 best-selling cookbook Everything Nasi Lemak to the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) for its women's HIV treatment, care, and support programmes. With Dato' Maznah Abdul Jalil, Honorary Treasurer, MAF.

Nostalgia Nasi Lemak features a multi-course nasi lemak menu especially curated by Puan Sri Betty Saw. She is one of Malaysia’s most influential celebrity chefs and food consultants and the author of more than 20 cookbooks on Malaysian culinary delights. Her newspaper column, From Betty Saw’s Kitchen, has inspired many to open cafes and restaurants using recipes from her books.

In fact, the charity dinner will commemorate the official launch of Everything Nasi Lemak, the second edition of her 2013 best-selling cookbook featuring 75 kitchen-tested side dish recipes – from Nyonya Beef Rendang and Potted Fish Otak-otak to Mushroom Egg Roll and Ayam Pandan – to complement its star attraction, nasi lemak.

Nasi lemak is called the national dish for a very good reason. Despite our ethnic and cultural differences, most, if not all, Malaysians will agree that nasi lemak is their most beloved local dish,” said Saw.

“I have yet to come across any Malaysian who does not love it.”

She further remarked, “It is this spirit of oneness that inspired me to dedicate this book to a worthy cause.”

Like the accompanying dinner, proceeds from the book will benefit MAF treatment, care, and support programmes for HIV-impacted women such as psychosocial counselling, health literacy, livelihood support, and vocational skills building.

“It is unacceptable that women living with HIV remain largely hidden and continue to suffer in silence. As AIDS enters its third decade in Malaysia, it is time to break the silence and empower our women to speak up. I hope my cookbook, through the efforts of the MAF, will give women a voice and a choice, in and out of the kitchen.”

The Swiss-Garden partnership

Stepping up to the plate on this charitable endeavour is Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur. Offering full sponsorship of the charity dinner, Nostalgia Nasi Lemak will mark the beginning of a long-term social responsibility partnership between Swiss-Garden International Hotels, Resorts & Inns and the MAF.

“We have seen first-hand the scale and impact of MAF’s work in effecting meaningful change in the lives of people affected by HIV/AIDS,” said Izudin Merican, Group General Manager, Swiss-Garden International Hotels, Resorts & Inns.

“Our growth as a business is measured by the impact that we create on the community we serve. The most significant impact that our business can create is helping communities led by the MAF end what is widely considered the biggest threat to public health.

“To this end, we will collaborate with the MAF by providing a platform at all our participating properties for raising funds and increasing awareness, as well as supporting community-driven initiatives towards the common goal of ending AIDS,” he added.

Nostalgia Nasi Lemak Highlights

Adding resonance to the plight of HIV-impacted women, Nostalgia Nasi Lemak will be officiated by YB Dato' Sri Hajjah Rohani Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development.

It also promises to be a star-studded affair featuring Red Ribbon Celebrity Supporters the likes of Bob Yusof whose recent comeback on a reality singing show made headlines. Joanne Kam, Malaysia’s undisputed Queen of Comedy, is slated for a cameo appearance. The full celebrity lineup will be announced as soon as details emerge.

Nostalgia Nasi Lemak will be held on Monday, 20 November 2017 at the Grand Hibiscus Ballroom, Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur. Tables are priced at RM10,000, RM5,000, and RM3,000, all of which are eligible for tax exemption. Marathon Category at STANDARD CHARTERED SINGAPORE MARATHON 2017 Sold Out

Singapore, 15 November 2018 – Registration for the marathon category at Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2017 (SCSM 2017) has officially closed with more than 12,500 participants, a 20% year-on-year increase from 2016. The Half-marathon and 10km expected to sell out very soon.

Commenting on the increased demand in the full distance, Geoff Meyer, Managing Director of IRONMAN Asia said “This year, we’ve had numerous initiatives like pacer runs, the women’s squad, and clinics to educate and empower runners to trade up. It’s very encouraging to see that these have led to the marathon category selling out for the first time in many years, and less than 200 places remaining in the half marathon. In addition, the introduction of the new route with iconic Singapore landmarks and added entertainment have led to the marathon going truly international, attracting close to 50,000 runners of 126 nationalities.”
Runners who have booked their spaces at this years’ marathon can look forward to completely new routes which will take runners through some of Singapore’s iconic heritage locations such as Little India, Chinatown and the Downtown Core.

Over the years, the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon has developed significantly in size, stature and race experience, attracting an average of close to 50,000 runners yearly. Among the registrants, 48% of those participating in the marathon category are non-Singaporean, with 37% coming from across Asia.

“These numbers show the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon is one of the most attractive races in the region. As a city, Singapore has a lot to offer runners, and we’re working towards delivering a top-class experience for everyone at the race this year.” Added Geoff.

Into its 16th year, Singapore’s only International Association of Athletics Federations Gold Label event will double as the National Championships this year, as it bids to join the Abbott World Marathon Majors.

Runners still looking to sign up for the Half Marathon and 10km categories are urged to do so quickly at www.singaporemarathon.com as the categories currently have less than 200, and 400 slot respectively. Standard Chartered Cardholders will enjoy 15% off registration fee across all categories.

Merrell Malaysia Launches Nature’s Gym Campaign

Petaling Jaya, 21 September 2017 – Merrell, the outdoor performance brand that empowers amazing outdoor lives, is excited to announce the launch of Nature’s Gym—a Merrell movement encouraging people to use nature as their gym. Nature’s Gym is where your active outdoor adventures happen, it’s where you explore, experience, and enjoy the outdoors.

In collaboration with Original Bootcamp Malaysia (OBC), the campaign kicked off with a group fitness bootcamp session at Dataran Petaling Jaya with invited media and guests. The bootcamp was led by experienced trainers from OBC and they started the session with warm ups and continued on with creative mix of bodyweight drills, workouts with ropes & soft medicine balls as well as high intensity interval training (HIIT).

The group was split into pairs and were instructed to perform a different workout from their partner. For instance, while one was doing burpees, the partner was performing a plank. Aside from that, the instructors had set stations on the field and each station was a different workout. Participants had to go through each station for a few minutes before moving on the next workout station. Once the fitness bootcamp was over, the trainers guided the participants on how to properly warm-down and stretch their body to avoid any injury.

In fact, Merrell Malaysia & OBC is planning to have a series of free outdoor fitness bootcamps for the public. Those who are interested in the bootcamps may follow Merrell Malaysia’s Facebook page for details.
