Media Release: MILO® Innovates and Fuels Malaysian Youth with NUTRI G™

Kuala Lumpur, 28 May 2015 – Malaysians, today, witness the evolution of MILO® with a new invention, MILO® Nutri G™ that is specially formulated to unleash sustainable energy to fuel Malaysians to go further. Malaysia is the first country in the world to introduce MILO® Nutri G™.

MILO® Nutri G™ (Nutri stands for Nutritious and G stands for Grains) is the first product globally to have a unique mix of four (4) different whole grains – brown rice, wheat, oats, and barley while maintaining its recognizable delicious chocolate malt taste. The latest R&D ensures it meets the dietary requirements of young adults who are unable to eat at regular times and left often with little choice but to settle for convenience over nutritional value.

Jasmmine Wong, Business Executive Manager of Nestlé Liquid Drinks: “MILO® Nutri G™ is not simply another repackaged MILO® drink. We believe that as the leading chocolate malt beverage in the world, we must first understand the societal shifts in what drives customers before we can deliver what they truly need. This is why we place high importance on this innovation.”

According to a 2014 survey carried out among the Malaysian workforce, 67% of Malaysians prefer to have a work-life balance to a higher salary and 37% across Asia Pacific will give up a pay raise to perform more social-relevant work. However, irregular work hours, longer transit duration, fragmented mealtimes are common scenarios that young Malaysians go through daily. The pressure to accomplish daily tasks and beat the clock tends to result in unwise food consumption decisions. Not only does nutrition takes a back seat, they may feel less energized physically and emotionally to pursue their passion outside their routines.

“We believe in nourishing ambitions. We want to fuel youth to push their boundaries and be reminded that the sky is beyond the limit to get more out of life. To nourish dreams, we must nourish the body first,” Jasmmine explains. “We should not compromise on nutrition and energy requirements just because we are on the go. All four wholesome grains, vitamins, minerals are extremely beneficial for healthy living and the grain combination acts as an excellent source of energy. We can get filled up, stay active and go further every day.”

The nation sees a high rate of inspiring young Malaysians who pursue their passion and dreams and balance their work life with vigor and enthusiasm, which is the reason Malaysia was chosen to be the first to introduce MILO® Nutri G™ to the world.

National swimmer Khoo Cai Lin, and winner of the Young Creative Entrepreneur Media Award, Fariz Hanapiah, business analyst, Shidah Mohd, and senior analyst, Fuad Alhabsi are some of the true testaments of individuals that embody the essence of MILO® Nutri G™. All of them pursue their passions beyond their 9-to-5 jobs. As part of the campaign, they will be sharing their champion stories and journeys of staying hungry to achieve bigger things in life.

“I follow a personal motto; possess the right values and attitude and we will see successful dreams. We are all champions within and it is important to have the mindset of never giving up and to stay true to your beliefs,” says Khoo Cai Lin.

“More youth are active in recreational or sports activities so it is important that they maintain a good energy level. Adequate nutrition raises productivity levels by 20 percent, so what young adults eat affects their daily performance,” says Cher Siew Wei, Nestle Wellness Manager. “The substantial goodness in MILO® Nutri G™ will keep hunger pangs at bay.”

“We are so very proud to introduce an innovation that elevates us towards a new chapter in MILO®‘s evolution history. Today sets a new benchmark for us and more importantly, we get to deliver a 100%-Malaysia-tailored MILO® Nutri G™, best served chilled – with the goodness of wholegrain energy, taste, nutrition, to a fulfilling beverage that is just right for our tropical weather,” concludes Jasmmine.

MILO® Nutri G™ comes in 190ml ready-to-drink convenient-sized bottle and is available in all 7-Eleven stores, petrol marts, supermarkets, and hypermarkets.

Media Release: National Running Day with Brooks Run Happy Nation Report!

Partnering Up Is Optimal: Brooks Running Survey Reveals a Third of Runners Prefer to Pair With Friends Over Fitness Trackers

Respondents also divulge that runner’s high can fuel ‘friskiness’ post workout

I SEE LONDON, I SEE FRANCE…
Runners carefully consider their gear, from head to toe (and everything in between):
· When it comes to running undies, 62% of American women prefer briefs, while only 8% admit to going full commando. In contrast, 72% of German women prefer granny panties for more coverage, while Canada tops the bottomless list with the most female runners (11%) revealing they like to go commando.

· Sports bras come in all shapes and sizes, but the survey reveals racerback styles are the most popular (47%), with crossback (39%) and front closure (14%) following.

· Who needs high heels and hiking boots when you have running shoes? Asked to choose one type of shoe to wear for the rest of their lives, 74% of respondents say they would don running shoes.

STAR INSPIRATION
The fit and famous inspire runners on- and off-screen:
· Along with the obvious health benefits of running comes the buff-ness bonus. Sculpted legs are the No. 1 benefit, with 37% of women surveyed saying they run to attain legs like actress Cameron Diaz, while 48% of men aspire to have muscular legs like soccer star David Beckham.

· When asked which award-winning running scene they most connect with, 32% of respondents relate to “Forrest Gump” and just keep running; 26% have the eye of the tiger like “Rocky”; and 18% want solitude á là “Silver Linings Playbook.”

WHERE TO HOOF IT
Whether inside or out, at home or away, it’s all about getting in a good run:
· Ah, the great outdoors! Asked to pick their favorite running surface, 47% of respondents choose the fresh air of the trails.

· When your everyday trails start to stale, it’s time to hit the road for a run-cation. Looking for ideas? Running around the Grand Canyon is the No. 1 choice for 27% of respondents, followed by the Romantic Road of Germany for 24%, and the Great Wall of China for 23%.

· As the weather gets cold and frightful, runners prove their dedication to the sport: 43% of respondents reveal they would hop on the treadmill instead of missing their run. Runners in Germany are most likely to brave the temperatures outside (52%), versus 29% in the U.S., and 28% in Canada.

A RUNNERS PERSPECTIVE
There are certain things runners just can’t live without (or with):
· Music takes the prize for the accessory runners can’t live without (53%); 18% say pockets are key, while performance socks (13%) round out the top three.

· Running pitfalls can hinder even the toughest athletes. Among the biggest annoyances for respondents: blisters covering feet (43%), nature calling with no toilet in sight (32%) and chafing everywhere (14%).

TOASTING THE TRAILS
They say you are what you drink, and runners couldn’t agree more:
· Most runners (44%) classify themselves as wine runners – they get better with time.

· Tied for second place with 24% each are beer runners, who have a little hop in their step, and cocktail runners, who like to shake up their routine.

Study Methodology
The Brooks Run Happy Nation Report was conducted by Wakefield Research (www.wakefieldresearch.com) among 1,000 adult runners ages 18+, defined as adults who run at least once per week, in each of the following countries: U.S., Canada and Germany. Data was collected between January 20th and January 30th, 2015, using an email invitation and an online survey. The margin of error for this survey is 3.1 percentage points.

Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2015 has been confirmed to be held at Dataran Merdeka on Sunday, 4th October.

Officially launched at the Standard Chartered KL Park, the event was officiated by the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Yang Berbahagia Datuk Seri Hj. Ahmad Phesal bin Hj. Talib. All categories of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon will be open for registration from 18th May onwards.

The running routes that were launched last year have been well received by runners and will be maintained for this year. Runners will start from the historic Dataran Merdeka, with the full marathon route taking them through highways which provides them a vista of the scenic cityscape of Kuala Lumpur.

Elite runners will also be competing for a total of USD 125,000 in prize money; making the Standard Chartered KL Marathon one of the most lucrative races in Malaysia.

“The Standard Chartered KL Marathon is an annual event that appeals to everyone. What we hope to achieve is a great and memorable experience not just for runners but for spectators, supporters and volunteers alike. We are also looking forward to welcoming international runners and supporters and we hope that they will bring with them good memories when they return home,” said Rainer Biemans, Director of Dirigo Events Sdn. Media Release: The First High Heel Dash In Malaysia In Celebration of Women Empowerment

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 April 2015 – Fast on the heels of high heel runs trending around the world, the first-ever high heel race in Malaysia has opened for online registration.

The High Heel Dash is an event that celebrates women empowerment in Malaysia. Participants will raise funds for charity and dash 50 metres in high heels to win attractive prizes. More than half of the funds raised will go directly towards the Women's Aid Organisation (WAO), which needs the funds to refurbish the shelter for women who are survivors of domestic violence.

“The life of the modern woman is in fact a big high heel race,” said Ms. Therine Goh, Director of the Bloc 48 Group, the agency behind The High Heel Dash. “She’s constantly on the run. She’s a working mom, a creative professional and a lifestyle expert. We want to celebrate these women who have to juggle multiple roles in life and to empower them to shatter the glass ceiling.”

The WAO is a non-profit organisation that works towards the elimination of discrimination against women, and to bring about equality between women and men. "By pledging your donations, you will help women overcome the hurdle of surviving violence," said Ms. Sumitra Visvanathan, the WAO's new Executive Director.

Malaysia currently has the lowest female participation rate in the labour force at roughly 32 percent. “With the High Heel Dash, we hope to encourage women to outrun those numbers,” said Ms. Goh.

The High Heel Dash is pairing up with SimplyGiving.com, Asia’s largest online giving community, to empower participants to go the extra mile and fundraise for the WAO. Participants can choose to pay a registration fee or get their friends to pledge a minimum amount of donations to the WAO. Singles participants, whose entry tickets cost RM150 each, will get to race for free if they manage to raise a minimum of RM300 worth of donations to the WAO. For doubles participants, the fee of RM250 will be waived if the duo manage to raise RM500 or above. "This way, participants have the chance to make a meaningful contribution on top of having a lot of fun," said Ms. Anrie Too, Relationship Manager of SimplyGiving.com.

Winners of the dash will receive Malaysia Airlines flights to exciting destinations (the grand prize being tickets for 2 to London), Enrich Miles, L'Oréal Professionnel Hair Care and Styling hampers as well as Shu Uemura products. Early bird sign-ups will receive premium goodie bags valued at RM785 each, whereas participants who sign up after the early bird offer will receive goodie bags valued at RM500. These goodie bags include products, vouchers and more from sponsors.

The High Heel Dash will take place on Saturday, 23 May 2015, from 10am to 6pm, at Publika, Solaris Dutamas, Mon’t Kiara. Besides the race, the event will also feature inspiring talks from leading female figures, performances, activities, and booths offering products and services for the modern woman.

The High Heel Dash is supported mainly by women-focused businesses such as Malaysia Airlines (title sponsor), Enrich by Malaysia Airlines (title sponsor), Marie Claire (official magazine partner), Tongue in Chic (official fashion & lifestyle portal), Lewre (official shoe partner), Curves Malaysia (official fitness partner), L’Oreal Professionnel (official hair partner), Shu Uemura (official makeup partner), Toni&Guy Mont Kiara (official salon partner), myBurgerLab (official F&B partner), Smooshie (official juice partner) and many more supporting partners including Strip: Ministry of Waxing, LeBunny Bleu, The Cooking House, Sothys and Gary Chong Studios.

Malaysia Airlines and Enrich are pleased to be part of this historic event as it takes place for the first time in Malaysia. "Women are such an important contribution to the workplace and we are excited to support events like The High Heel Dash that are pushing for that objective," said Khairul Nisa Ismail, Vice President of Loyalty (Enrich), Malaysia Airlines. "We would like to welcome our members especially the ladies amongst our Enrich members to participate in this event. This is the time that you get to run in heels for a good cause and it will definitely be an enriching experience together with your friends and family members."

High heel runs have become a global symbol of empowerment and solidarity for important women’s causes around the world. First introduced in 2006 by Glamour magazine in Amsterdam, dozens of cities around the world from Hong Kong to New York now organize races every year. The organizers of Malaysia's High Heel Dash hope to make it an annual event.

"Join us for a fun and chic day in celebrating the modern woman," said Ms. Goh. "Let's show the world the value she brings."

Media Release: Dubai Marathon Pays Tribute To Three-Time Champion Gebrselassie

Dubai (UAE): Organisers of the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon have paid tribute to three-time winner Haile Gebrselassie following the Ethiopian’s legend’s retirement from competitive running.

The double Olympic gold medalist made his debut at the Middle East’s biggest mass participation event back in 2008 winning in 2:04:53 - at the time the second fastest in history - before going on to win the men’s race again in 2009 (2:05:29) and 2010 (2:06:09). The man known as “the little emperor” also set two records in Dubai in 2008 - the fastest 20km split time in a marathon (58:10) and the fastest Half Marathon split time (61:27) - both of which still stand today.

After Gebrselassie, who set 27 world records during a stellar career, announced his retirement, Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon Event Director Peter Connerton was quick to praise an athlete he described as having taken the event to the next level with his three consecutive victories.

“When Haile agreed to compete in Dubai in 2008, he took the Dubai Marathon to another level in international athletics,” said Connerton. “His profile as one of the greatest long distance runners in history speaks for itself so to have him compete in your race is a testament to the quality of the event.

"The decision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in association with the Dubai Sports Council, to provide record prize-money was an important milestone for us but to have Haile compete - and go on to win on three consecutive appearances - took us to a greater global audience.”

Connerton added that despite competitive retirement, Gebrselassie will always have a place on the start line in Dubai. “Haile is a wonderful ambassador for the sport and a great friend of the Dubai Marathon - we wish him well in his retirement and will be happy to welcome him back to Dubai any time in the future.”
