Football=Adidas?

To me ADIDAS is always = RUNNING. Heheh! :D

But you cannot deny that ADIDAS = FOOTBALL too! Yes! The World Cup 2010 is coming and Adidas has a major part in it!

Do you know that Adidas has just extended its sponsorship agreement with FIFA for the World Cup soccer tournaments in 2010 and 2014 in a recent deal!!! Wow!

Adidas will as at previous events supply the official match ball (yup...the ball that you see above) and equipment for FIFA officials with licensing for endorsed retail equipment. So, we get to see a lot of three stripes in and out of footbal stadium soon!

Well, what is a football match without it's ball right? LOL!

The offical ball named, “JABULANI” which means “to celebrate” in isiZulu, the new ADIDAS ball will be the only ball used during the month-long tournament that starts in June. That's is exclusivity!

Let's talk about the design - 11 is a big number that relates to the “JABULANI” ball as it sports an fantastic 11 different colors. Why 11? This is why - 11 is equal to the 11 players who take the field for every team during the tournament, the 11 official languages of South Africa, (isiZulu is spoken by 25% of the people), and the 11 South African tribes that make the country extremely diverse.

Symbolic 11, isn't it?

The ball’s design was said to, “lend the ball a unique appearance in African spirit. Like the outer facade of Johannesburg’s Soccer City Stadium, individual design elements capture the colorfulness of South Africa.”

For your info, Adidas has been FIFA's partner since 1970 and the firm has been keen to expand its soccer activities to fend off increasing competition from sector giant Nike and German rival Puma.
