Age of Glory Theme Song “Linger” (流连) wins Asia Rainbow Awards

Kuala Lumpur, 23rd March – ntv7, the Home of Feel Good, played a winning tune at the Asia Rainbow TV Awards, held yesterday in Hong Kong. The theme song for the station’s popular period series, Age of Glory II, titled “Linger” (or “流连”) won the “Best Drama Theme Song” in the inaugural awards, organized by the Hong Kong Television Professionals Association (HKTVA) and the TV Production Committees of China TV and Broadcasting Association.

“Being identified as a winner in the region has certainly boosted our local industry even more,” says Airin Zainul, Group General Manager of ntv7 and 8TV. “All the hard work in championing the growth of the local entertainment scene is rewarding for the station, viewers and talents.”

Sung by singer and composer Yise Loh and one of the series’ lead actors, Leslie Chai, the song beat two other finalists from Chinese productions Three Kingdoms and Marriage Battle.

Yise Loh who performed the song live during the awards show expressed surprise and utter joy upon learning her song had won. "I never thought my composition would win the prize! I especially want to thank ntv7 and Double Vision for giving me the opportunity to flex my creativity on Age of Glory II,” says Loh.

“I just wanted to go all out in giving my best performance on stage in Hong Kong and never imagined the song would win. Most of all I am proud and happy for bringing glory to Malaysia,” she adds.

The award is especially meaningful to her because out of the total of 13 countries participating in the awards, she is the sole Malaysian representative.

Nicknamed the "Asian Emmy's," the first annual Asia Rainbow TV Awards saw television programmes from 13 countries competing for 24 award categories. Jointly organized by the Hong Kong Television Professionals Association (HKTVA) with the TV Production Committees of China TV and Broadcasting Association, the awards is open to Asian countries and regions. It aims towards strengthening ties between the countries and to promote the growth of Asia's television production industry.

Age of Glory II is ntv7’s 2010 local period drama production, co-produced with local production house Double Vision. The RM3 million production featured painstakingly recreated scenes spanning the 1930’s to the 1970’s starring Malaysian actors Goh Wee Ping, Frederick Lee and Leslie Chai.
