Media Release: Summer 2016 Nike Free

Building upon over a decade of Nike Free innovation, Nike unveils new additions to its Free footwear family. Each features a progressive geometric auxetic midsole designed to enable an athlete’s natural motion and develop strength, whether they are running or training.

Drawing upon new studies that reveal how the foot expands and contracts upon impact with and liftoff from the ground, the splaying, auxetic midsole mimics how the body and foot react to force. It absorbs shock while accounting for the dual-plane expansion in foot size — approximately one size in length and two sizes in width — that occurs throughout an athlete’s foot strike.

Moreover, the multi-directional outsole flexibility closely mimics this changing shape, whether an athlete is moving linearly in running or multi-directionally in training. The resulting flexibility puts the foot, rather than the shoe, in control. Or, as explained by three-time gold medal sprinter Allyson Felix, "Using Nike Free footwear in my training is all about strengthening my feet. I really like having that natural movement in my shoes. Everyone’s feet are different, so it’s great to have a shoe that really moves with you."

Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit (RRP: RM599)
This running shoe enables the runner’s most dynamic movement. It pairs a fully adaptive, single-piece Nike Flyknit upper featuring 3D ribbing from the forefoot to heel with the new auxetic midsole.

Nike Free RN Flyknit (RRP: RM519)
The zonally engineered, lightweight Flyknit upper combines a sock-like fit with a classic silhouette that molds to the foot. The midsole features the same expansive auxetic technology with a brand new, softer IU foam for additional underfoot comfort.

Nike Free RN (RRP: RM439)
Lightweight and dynamic, this running shoe unites an engineered mesh upper for flexible support with a brand new, softer IU foam for additional comfort underfoot.

Women's Nike Free Transform Flyknit (RRP: RM599)
This low-profile training shoe features a Flyknit upper designed to enhance support. Flywire locks down the foot during lateral cuts while an integrated heel counter keeps an athlete stable for movement in all directions. A two-piece interior pairs cushioning for repetitive high-impact moves with a firm outsole that delivers more support during the toughest workouts.

Men's Nike Free Train Force Flyknit (Not available in Malaysia)
This low-profile training shoe features a 5/8-height Flyknit upper designed to promote a feeling of support. Flywire locks down the foot during lateral cuts while an integrated heel counter keeps an athlete stable during hard cuts. Dual-density tooling pairs cushioning for repetitive high-impact moves with a firm outsole that delivers stiffer support during rigorous lifts.
