Asia's Top Tower Runner Rejoices with the Support from JOMRUN for La Verticale De La Tour Eiffel

Kuala Lumpur, 12 February 2019 - Malaysia’s world-class tower running athlete – Soh Wai Ching (World No. 5) couldn’t be happier as he looks forward to participating in “LA VERTICALE DE LA TOUR EIFFEL” with the support from local running app “JomRun”.

This will not be the first time Wai Ching carried the Malaysian pride to the top of the world-famous Eiffel Tower as he finished 9th in the same race last year. This time around, he will be carrying the running spirit of all Malaysian with his newly found sponsor “JomRun” to promote unity through the sport on an international stage.

“I couldn’t be more thankful to JomRun which stepped up to support me in one of the most difficult time in my sporting career due to the lack of recognition and financial constraints. I highly appreciate their acknowledgement of my achievement and contribution in the sport. With their support, I once again aim to bring the Malaysian flag to the top, hoping to finish top 5 in my second attempt.”

Wai Ching has been getting a lot of media attention lately as he questioned solo runner Dr. Suwaibah’s ask for 1 million USD to fund her tower running tour. Despite being the best in Asia, Wai Ching was understandably upset when he found out that Dr. Suwaibah got the support from the defense ministry while he himself is yet to be recognized as a national athlete by the nation’s governing body.

Wai Ching’s hardship of being a self-funded athlete in Malaysia first caught the attention of the founder of “JomRun”, Chang Yi Hern when he found out about Wai Ching’s achievement on social media. Inspired by Wai Ching’s work ethic to become one of the best in his sport, Yi Hern decided to do the best he could to support Wai Ching as his startup aims to promote unity through sporting events.

“With JomRun taking the lead, I sincerely hope that more companies and NGOs would come together to support our nation’s talented athletes who deserve more recognition. I believe the support from our community would give a confidence boost to our local champions who continue to carry the pride and dreams of Malaysia athlete to the top.” ~ Chang Yi Hern, Founder of JomRun.
