Thursday Evening Urban KL City Run - A Great Way To See KL On Foot

Neves, the lead singer of the local rock band, Pretty Ugly is an avid runner. I have been seeing his social media postings of his group run on Thursday evening for quite some time and it sure looks like fun! So, I decided to join them last Thursday!

I started my run with Kakai, Baha and Amirul from Plaza Sentral. We would head towards the Central Market to meet up with Neves.

From Plaza Sentral, we weaved our way to the Central Market, passing by the bustling NU Sentral Shopping mall on a busy road.

Along the Klang River. Pasar Seni LRT is on the right.

Approaching Central Market.

Before the run, we took an obligatory we-fie. Neves was joined by his wife, Lyana and a few more runners.

Here we go!...

Cutting through the Kasturi Walk - a pedestrian mall, next to the Central Market. Here you can find lots of local street food and cheap souvenirs.

Neves bumping into a friend.

Trying to emulate an album cover perhaps? Heheh!

The shot looks much more impressive take with Neves' GoPro.

Neves taking some footage of the evening run.

The beautiful Masjid Jamek - built in 1909  is one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak River

The development of the River of Life project has made the surrounding more runner-friendly. We get some nice pathways and pavement to run on.

Masjid Jamek in the background has a Moorish style with iconic white domes

Check out the fish in the water.

Traffic was starting to build up as office workers were heading home.

Another we-fie in front of the gigantic mural on the side of a building. It depicts a little boy wearing a tiger hat while he is playing with his tablet. It is called BRAVE by Anokayer and Yumz. You can see this mural at Jalan Raja Chulan, next to Menara Maybank.

Heading to Bukit Bintang. The tallest communication tower in Malaysia, the KL Tower in the background.

Changkat Bukit Bintang - We ran pass a stretch of bars and restaurants. This area in Bukit Bintang is a haven for locals, tourists and expats on a night out.

The Jalan Alor Enclave where you can find beautiful street art/ graffitis. You can view more photos of this area in my other post -  https://runwitme.blogspot.com/2018/12/christmas-morning-lsd-most-beautiful-kl.html

Weaving our way through a sea of people in Jalan Alor - One of the best places in KL to enjoy hawker food. Very busy in the evening and do come with an empty stomach! Heheh!

We spotted Qi Razali, a local TV host and actor in the crowd. He was filming a busker's performance. We unabashedly stopped him for a selfie.

Bukit Bintang MRT

Lot 10 Shopping Mall - Opened in 1991, it is one of the city's oldest malls, it houses a mix of international brands such as H&M (the biggest in the country), Isetan The Japan Store (a unique place to shop for all things Japanese) and more.

Hello? Baha..we are supposed to run, not getting on the bike.

The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur - KL’s haute couture shopping Mecca.

@ The giant crystal fountain in front of Pavilion KL.

More selfies? Yes, thank you.

See...No suffering bonk faces here. Running is fun. Heheh!

From Pavilion KL, we shuffled to KLCC via the elevated pedestrian walkway. Do NOT run here, the hawk-eyed guards will stop you. Just walk very very fast...

KL Citywalk (KLCW) is the only urban street arcade between famous Jalan P Ramlee & Jalan Pinang

Eat Street, an urban food court where they can try out local delights located within the KLCW.

A great Instagram-friendly place to visit.

Waiting in front of the toilet with style. Heheh!

It's funny the such an interesting place looks so deserted in the evening. I wonder why?

KLCW, one selfie befre heading to the final destination KLCC.

We ended our run at KLCC, clocking at about 8km with a selfie pace around 7.
I must say I enjoyed this Thursday Evening group run. The selfie/ wefie stops take away the pressure of running. It shifts the focus of getting there fast to getting to see more of what KL has to offer. Thank you Neves, Kakai and the rest of the runners who welcome this old tortoise to join the run. So, see you next Thursday? Heheh!
