Run, Dance, Eat: The Malaysia Sarong Music Run is Back for Malaysia Day Celebration!

Get ready, Kuala Lumpur! The Malaysia Sarong Music Run (MSMR) is making a triumphant return on September 20, 2025, right in front of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. This year, the event is set to be bigger and more vibrant than ever, with over 30,000 visitors expected to join the festivities.

This year's run is a true international affair, with participants from a record-breaking 26 countries registered to take part. This diverse turnout solidifies MSMR's reputation as a cultural celebration with global appeal. Over 15,000 runners will be joined by thousands of spectators, tourists, and culture enthusiasts to enjoy a day filled with live performances, traditional showcases, and a variety of delicious Malaysian dishes—all in the spirit of celebrating Malaysia Day.

More Than Just a Run

As Eddy Casmady, President of Malaysia Marathon Official Sdn Bhd, points out, the MSMR is more than just a typical fun run. It's a 5K journey where tradition meets fitness. Runners don traditional sarongs, sample authentic Malaysian food along the route, and are energized by live traditional music performances from start to finish.

The MSMR 2025 features three distinct events to cater to a variety of participants:

• EKI JETOUR X BSC Relay Run: A unique sarong relay that took place on September 9, 2025.
• 5KM Speed Run (5K Malaysia Speed): Open exclusively to Malaysian citizens, this race on September 20, 2025, highlights local recreational and elite talent.
• 5KM Fun Run: Also on September 20, 2025, this event is open to everyone, including international tourists.

As the sun sets, the celebration continues with live performances by artists starting at 6:30 p.m. This transforms the event from a race into a full-fledged cultural festival where food, music, and community spirit take center stage.
