Brooks Glycerin 10 Has Outrun The Competition For The Best Neutral Shoe Award

We just heard from Brooks Malaysia that the Glycerin 10 has won an award from Running Network. as the Best Neutral Shoe for Fall 2012 beating other contenders in this category - Brooks (Ghost 5 and Dyad 7), Nike (Air Pegasus 29+) and Mizuno (Wave Enigma 2).

Pamper your feet by slipping them into the premium, plush and incredibly stable Glycerin 10.

As it weighs less than the previous editions, Glycerin 10 offers neutral runners a faster and lighter ride.

This updated version boasts a few new features:

- OMEGA Flex Grooves underfoot for improved traction and greater flexibility. The grooves open to match your stride and then works to offer stability when at rest, making super flexible.

- Midfoot strap saddle that hugs your feet for enhanced stability while giving you a snug fit.

- Caterpillar Crash Pad customizes your impact with just the right amount of cushion and stabilization for a smooth heel to toe transition.

Glycerin 10 features a full-length Brooks BioMoGo DNA midsole adapts to the way you run to give you perfectly cushioning and customized support in the three key areas of the foot, heelstrike, midfoot and forefoot take off.

The BioMoGo DNA midsole also degrade faster in the landfill. It takes only 20 years to biodegrade versus the conventional petroleum based material which requires 1,000 years to degrade. So, it is as green as a running shoe can get!

Run Happy with Brooks Glycerin 10? You bet!

Congratulations to Brooks for winning this award for Glycerin 10!

Here's the full review for Glycerin 10 by Running Network.

Press Release: My First Run Clinics for MPIB Run 2013

My First Run Clinics

The concept of My First Run Clinic is to help individuals who are now not running to take up running as a sustainable healthy recreational activity.

In line with the keep fit / work life balance objective of the event, Multi-Purpose Insurans Bhd (MPIB) will anchor this program. MPIB will challenge their staff, associates and partners to take up running to improve their health, cardiovascular fitness, some weight loss, improved BMI measurements etc with this 3 months' program.

A few of the most improved individuals and their transformation story would be featured in the run website www.mpibrun.com.my and Facebook at www.facebook.com/MPIBRun. The members of the public who wish to take up running will also be invited to join this program.

The clinics will be held at Bukit Aman Car-park, Taman Tasik Perdana, Jalan Tangling every Saturday at 7.30am from 29 September 2012 to 22 December 2012, a 3 months program.

The Training Program

We will be using a basic 4.2km route at Taman Tasik Perdana using a program loosely based on a Beginner’s Running Program by the New York Road Runners (www.nyrr.org) .

We divide the 4.2km route into 5 segments (approximately 800m per segment). Beginners would jog the first segment, brisk walk the second segment, jog the third segment, brisk walk the fourth segment and jog the fifth segment. We expect beginners to practice 3 times a week, preferably on alternate days within the week.

After each week, we increase the jog segments a little (say by 100m) and reduce the brisk walk segments a little (say by 100m) in doing the routine. The weekly routine goes on till the beginners are able to jog the full 4.2km non-stop. Usually, it takes about 5 to 8 weeks for someone who has not been running to achieve this level. After this, the participant should be able to complete the 5km or the 8 km distance at the MPIB Run 2013.

Note - Run at a conversational pace – while jogging you must be able to talk comfortably, if not, it means you are running too fast based on your fitness and capability, slow down.

We inspire, motivate and promote running as a healthy recreational activity

On 22 December 2012 at 7.30am, there will be a trial run from Padang Merbuk Car-park using the actual 5km route.

Knowledge on Health & Running
On certain Saturdays, after the run at about 8.30am, selected speakers will be invited to give a talk to impact knowledge on running. For more info, please click HERE.

Press Release: National Cancer Society Malaysia Launches Relay For Life KL 2012

Kuala Lumpur, 4 September– Relay For Life Malaysia – KL 2012 (RFL KL 2012) has arrived at the shores of KL for the sixth consecutive year since its inaugural debut in 2007. This year, the relay which is the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM)’s main fundraising event will take place once again at Stadium UniversitiKebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi from the 13th to the 14th of October, 2012.

RFL, is an overnight, community-based event to celebrate cancer survivorship and raise funds forNCSM’s cancer awareness projects. The RFL Malaysia series took off successfully in Melaka and Penang in June and will finally end in KL this October.RFL will be celebrating its 28th worldwide anniversary in 2012 while RFL Malaysia will have its 6thyear celebration.

The funds raised through RFL are aimed to support NCSM’s community outreach programmesin rural areas where communities are provided with free screening services and cancer education. Besides that, NCSM’s objective is also to attract youths to participate and sign up as volunteers. Hopefully, they will be advocates to spread cancer awareness to the public through traditional and social media.

“We are glad that many young volunteers and students have come on board this year as we hope to reach out to the younger generation. We are looking to bring in students as volunteers to spread cancer awareness,” says Dato’ Zuraidah Atan, Chairperson of RFL Malaysia 2012 and Honorary Adviser for NCSM.
The proceeds received from RFL KL 2012 will be channeled towards running of the Helpdesk as part of a support system for cancer patients and caregivers. Besides that, it will also be for subsidised radiotherapy treatment at the Cancer Treatment Centre, NCSM and subsidised accommodation at the Children’s Home of Hope. RFL KL 2012 hopes to garner in about RM400, 000 from sponsorships, donations and registrations.

Last year’s RFLs attracted about 7,000 people. This year, NCSM hopes to engage about 10,000 participants in total for all 3 venues to show their unity in the fight against cancer.

“NCSM hopes to change people’s perception that cancer is a taboo through RFL. We want to show the other side of cancer which comprises determination, strength and hope. RFL is an avenue where each cancer survivor’s life is honored andcelebratedas we find inspiration in their strength and perseverance. Those lost to cancer will always be remembered and we hope that one day cancer will be eliminated,” explains Dato’ Zuraidah Atan.

In Malaysia, cancer is the leading cause of death among medically certified deaths. 1 in 4 Malaysians have a lifetime risk of developing cancer whereby the majority of patients are found at the later stage of the disease. The good news is that experts estimate that approximately 1/3 of cancers are potentially preventable. NCSM believes that this can be achieved through educating one’s self on cancer, being more aware of the body and doing regular screenings, as well as adopting a healthy lifestyle.

RFL starts with the Survivors’ Lap, a testimony to the fact that so many people today are surviving cancer. Cancer survivors from the community walk the first lap around the track to celebrate their victories while everyone cheers them on. The main aim of this event is that the track should not be devoid of people throughout the 16 hours.

The most inspirational time of Relay is the Luminaria Ceremony which happens at dusk when cancer survivors are honoured and those who have lost their battle with the disease are remembered. A Luminaria is a small bag with sand in it and a small candle or tea light. After sunset, all the Luminarias are lit and remain lit throughout the night to light the way for the walkers and to create a path of hope.

RFL KL hopes to attract people from all walks of life especially the students and the younger generation to show their unity against cancer. NCSM believes that awareness created at a young age plays amajor role in preventing cancer later in life.

RFL KL is supported by Brother International, Murphy Oil, Spritzer, Giant, Astro, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Sabah Tea, our official time keeper for RFL KL 2012, Timberland Watches and other contributors as well as our survivors, volunteers and members of the media. NCSM would also like to thank Bangsar Shopping Centre for being our venue sponsor for today’s event and The Dome for sponsoring the food and beverages.

For further updates on RFL, call 03- 2698 7300 or visit www.relayforlifemalaysia.com our facebook page: Relay For Life Malaysia and National Cancer Society Malaysia our Twitter at cancermalaysia.

“Our very first walk in 2008 managed to gather 1,000 employees from KFC and Pizza Hut along with their families and in 2009 we had more than 2,000 taking part, but again it was an in-house affair”.

“However when we opened the walk to the public the numbers raised tremendously to 7,000 in 2010 and 10,000 last year. For 2012, we are again expecting more than 10,000 participants, especially members of the public who have now made this walk their yearly outing with family and friends.”

Tiger Balm Neck and Shoulder Rub: Fast and Soothing Relief On The Go!

Do you know that stress can cause your neck to tighten and aches? Be it working in the office or at home, neck and shoulder area are prone to aches due to long hours in front of the computer and juggling many activities at once on the go.
Time-pressed professionals who are packing more and more into their daily schedules sometimes tend to ignore these discomfort signals and suffer in silence. But why should we?

The solution has arrived in the form of Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub. It is formulated to specifically target the discomfort in muscles around the neck & shoulder area. We have not come across any similar products out there in the market yet as it is the first and only product that is specially formulated to provide relief for neck and shoulder discomfort.

Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub is available in 2 variants. Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub comes with a soothing lavender fragrance that gives lasting relief for mild neck and shoulder discomfort.

If you need some extra “boost”in your rub, then Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Boost variant is perfect for you. This power-packed formulation has a refreshing scent that invigorates while providing extra strength.

Unlike many topical ointments out there, the Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder does not leave your skin oily after application. This non-greasy formulation is also fast-absorbing into the skin, hence providing a quick relief to the target area.

We love the packaging which comes in a 50g flat tube. The sleek and contemporary packaging design and colours also set this product apart from the typical medical hall analgesic.
We noticed that upon removing the cap for the first time, the product is sealed with a foil to prevent contamination and tampering. This reinforced my trust for Tiger Balm, the world renowned and trusted brand for over a century.

The ergonomic flat tube is easy to squeeze.

It has “convenience” written all over it – easy to dispense, easy to carry and easy to store as it does not occupy much space in your bag or even pocket.

All ready for “Massage On The Go”!

It takes only a few minutes to experience a power massage without paying a trip to your massage parlour. Very much like going to a spa. :D

The tension knotted in my neck and shoulders muscles gently goes away upon each rub. Some has even likened the sensation to a pair of invisible hands rubbing the tension away.

I personally prefer the regular variant of Tiger Balm Neck and Shoulder Rub. It is sufficient to provide soothing and lasting relief to my tired neck and shoulder muscles after a long hard day at work. Now, it is a new addition to the essential items in my working bag.

No time for spa? No time for massage? But in dire need to ease the tension around the shoulder and neck area? No problem! Tiger Balm Neck & Shoulder Rub will cater to you until your next trip to your local spa or massage parlour.

Just grab a pack at leading pharmacies and Aeon Wellness stores near you.
