Media Release: Under Armour Keeps You on Your Game with New Fall/Winter 2015 Collection

Kuala Lumpur, 08 July 2015 – With Under Armour, you only get better. For the upcoming Fall/Winter 2015 collection, U.S. high performance sports label Under Armour packs a new punch with an expanded product range tailored to suit every need you might have, and every condition you might face. Be it rain or shine, day or night, in the gym or the great outdoors; whether you’re training for speed and agility, going for distance and endurance, or simply stretching your muscles for recovery – Under Armour has just the right athletic performance gear to help keep you on your game.

"When it comes to sports, Under Armour has always been about pushing boundaries. Not just for athletes, but also for all pursuing their fitness journeys. We are also constantly advancing our technology and innovation, aiding athletes to be at their best during trainings and at competitions in all conditions,” says Michael Binger, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Triple Pte Ltd, the exclusive distributor of Under Armour in Southeast Asia.

Protect Against the Elements

The Under Armour Storm clothing and shoes are built with water-resistant technology to fight off the elements. The technology features incredibly lightweight, breathable material with durable water repellant (DWR) finish to repel rain and snow, as well as to shelter against wind, without adding bulk. There are three different levels of protection against the elements, and Under Armour’s Storm technology outerwear has got you covered from tropical climate to the cold country you’re heading to for the holidays, depending on your needs.

Put Your Best Foot Forward

With a strong focus on footwear this season, Under Armour has updated its range of athletic footwear with fresh additions, including the UA SpeedForm® Fortis. Joining Under Armour's renowned line of SpeedForm® shoes, the SpeedForm® Fortis features an ArmourVent™ mesh upper for true breathability, and a 6mm 4D Foam™ footbed in the cavity of the midsole that molds to the foot and enhances cushioning. Designed for stability and flexibility, the Charged Cushioning delivers superior impact protection, energy return and adaptive support, while a second layer of Micro G™ foam provides 40% of forefoot flex – the perfect amount to allow you to run stronger.

Also new this fall is the UA Charged Bandit, which features an ArmourVent™ upper, with seamless overlays that add structure and support without the bulk. Charged Cushioning and Micro G™ foam work together in the midsole to decrease the rate of pronation and to deliver the best in impact protection and energy return. Furthermore, anatomically placed flex grooves and strategically placed rubber traction enable a smooth ride and transition, and offer extreme comfort and stability for long distance running so you can go the extra mile.

Both the SpeedForm® Fortis and Charged Bandit will also come in exclusive Night versions that sport a breathable and fully reflective upper and 360-degree reflectivity for early morning and night-time safety.

Under Armour has also collaborated with Michelin to update its trail running range with the UA Fat Tire Low, inspired by the tires used on “fat bikes”, which run at lower PSI (pounds per square inch) and can bounce over tough terrain, enabling riders to ride through anything. In partnership with Michelin, Under Armour has developed the ideal outdoor compound and traction pattern, providing excellent cross-slope grip and unparalleled all-terrain performance. The Fat Tire Low also features Charged Cushioning and is bottom-loaded with softer, high-rebound foam, allowing it to be responsive yet adaptive to terrain.

Meanwhile, the popular UA SpeedForm® Gemini now comes in new colourways this season – classic, masculine tones of black, white and blue for men, and vibrant shades of purple, pink, blue and neon yellow for women.

Sun Protection Technology – Coldblack® and Sunblock

Under Armour continues to integrate its signature Coldblack® technology into its Golf and running apparel this season. The Coldblack® technology protects the user from harmful UV rays and reflects the heat of the sun, keeping you cooler and more comfortable in brutally hot conditions.

Now endorsed by the Skin Cancer Foundation, Under Armour’s Sunblock apparel are testified to effectively provide sun protection against UPF30 and UPF50, protecting the skin against UVA and UVB rays that can cause premature skin ageing and skin cancer.

Both product lines see an extension from the previous season, branching from tops into bottoms such as capris. The Coldblack® and Sunblock series remain exclusively for men and women respectively.

Making All Athletes Better

As the originators of athletic performance apparel, Under Armour is committed to continuously innovate their performance training gear, engineering apparel to footwear to make all athletes better. Featuring the brand’s key ArmourVent™ and HeatGear® technology that provide increased breathability and enhanced ventilation, Under Armour’s signature Baselayers are updated with a new performance flex panel that maximises mobility and relieves chaffing and abrasion. The compression fit supports muscles so they vibrate less, giving you less fatigue and more power.

Under Armour’s prominent Alter Ego compression range is also here to stay. This time, both DC Superheroes and Marvel fans can look forward to donning their favourite characters – such as Batman, Superman, Captain America and Flash – as training gear for added motivation.

Committed to have you covered from top to bottom, Under Armour has expanded its training footwear range to aid you in your workouts all year round with the UA Men’s SpeedForm® Phenom, UA Men’s Charged One, UA Men’s Phenom Proto, UA Micro G™ Sting TR 2, and UA Micro G™ Limitless TR – all created to support your training with strength, stability, and speed.

Under Armour apparel and accessories are priced from RM29 to RM1099.

Media Release: SAUCONY Delivers ‘WHOA’ Experience with All-New ISO-SERIES™ for 2015

Whoa. That one word expresses the unprecedented sensation that runners experience when they step into the all-new Saucony HYPERLINK "http://blog.saucony.com/product-corner/iso-series-triumph/" ISO-Series collection of performance footwear.

Launching Spring 2015, the ISO-Series, consisting of the re-engineered Triumph and Hurricane and the all-new Zealot, showcases two of the brand’s latest innovations: ISOFIT and PWRGRID+.

The ISOFIT dynamic fit system adapts to the runner’s foot in action, allowing the shoe to move in perfect harmony with the foot. Combined with a PWRGRID+ platform for enhanced cushioning, the ISO-Series is the latest demonstration of Saucony’s relentless commitment to elevating the running experience through performance innovation.

A global, multichannel marketing campaign called Whoa will debut November 1st at the New York City Marathon in support of the ISO-Series product launch.

“Our design philosophy has always been to look at the dynamics of the runner’s entire stride, not just the moment of impact,” said Pat O'Malley, senior vice president of global product for Saucony. “Runners continue to tell us that fit is the most important criteria in their choice of a running shoe. But there’s fit and then there’s fit in motion. ISOFIT provides a sustained dynamic fit−a truly personal connection between the runner and their shoe−no matter foot shape, stride mechanics or ground surface. The ISO-Series’fine-tuned approach is engineered to make you want to run, fully enjoying the experience like never before.”

ISOFIT™

According to the Running USA 2013 National Runner Survey, 92% of respondents surveyed selected “fit” as the most important criteria when purchasing running shoes. Saucony designers engineered an ultra-soft, inner fit-sleeve crafted out of stretchable air mesh that morphs to the foot for a sock-like feel. A floating support cage sits like a saddle over the fit-sleeve, cradling the midfoot and adapting to the foot’s size, shape and movement, allowing the shoe to respond to the individual runner’s gait throughout the run.

PWRGRID+™

The PWRGRID+ platform is engineered with PowerGrid™, a Powerfoam material that is integrated with Saucony’s GRID™ technology, creating a system that effectively centers the foot, absorbs impact and distributes pressure. The PWRGRID+ platform’s increased stack heights deliver over 20% more cushioning and 15% more resiliency than PowerGrid construction alone. The result is the most cushioned running experience the brand has ever created.

The ISO-Series

Triumph (for her) available in twilight/oxygen/citron; (for him) in blue/citron/viziorange

Triumph

Weighing in at just 10.3 oz., the Triumph, with ISOFIT and PWRGRID, is the brand’s super-plush neutral trainer. The open toe box of the 8mm-offset Triumph further enhances the shoe’s sock-like feel. The shoe’s SRC™ (Super Rebound Compound) Impact Zone provides durable shock absorption at impact while a lightweight Support Frame™ locks the heel in place for a secure fit.

Hurricane (for him) available in grey/ citron/orange; blue/white/black

Hurricane

The Hurricane blends the benefits of a premium stability shoe with plush cushioning underfoot, the result of the PWRGRID+ platform. The ISOFIT saddle is engineered to provide additional stabilizing support. A seamless toe box in the 8mm-offset Hurricane provides plush comfort and the Support Frame secures the heel upon foot strike.

Zealot (for her) is available in oxygen/twilight/citron; navy/pink/lime

Zealot (for him) is available in viziorange/blue/citron; grey/blue/red

Zealot

The all-new Zealot rounds out the ISO-Series, offering runners ISOFIT and PWRGRID+ technologies in a lighter weight, lower-profile package. Two ounces lighter than the Triumph and built with a 4mm offset, runners will appreciate how light, fast and highly cushioned this shoe feels. Deep forefoot grooves provide an extremely flexible feel and an extended SRC (Super Rebound Compound) Impact Zone through the midfoot allows for a smoother transition. A seam-free toebox provides comfort and allows the toes to splay during the latter phase of the gait cycle.

Saucony ISO-Series: Triumph, Hurricane and Zealot are retailed at RM469 per pair. The collection is expected to be available NOW across selected Stadium, Studio R and Royal Sporting House outlet in Malaysia.

Khairy Jamaluddin's Statement on the Standard Chartered KL Marathon - SCKLM 2015 is back to 4 October!

I’ve read all your tweets, Facebook messages and emails regarding the date change of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2015. There are a few things I want to clear up.

The National Sports Day isn’t about achieving KPIs or hijacking events. There are noble intentions in what we were trying to do. We were trying to get as many Malaysians from different ethnicities, religions, age, location and walks of life out there as one to do as many sporting activities as possible on one day.

The power of sports to unite people can not be underestimated. When you’re running, cycling, lifting weights or playing football, they person next to you isn’t defined by what they look like, but rather what they’re able to achieve. Not in relation to you, but in relation to themselves. Sports has that power to show you what your limits are and then pushes you to exceed them.

Ten months ago, my ministry launched the Fit Malaysia initiative with this in mind. In that short time, we’ve seen great success in bringing people together. We’ve had tens of thousands of people who might ordinarily not exercise come out to join us in our fitness activities. We’ve had people who might ordinarily not mix around outside their ethnic boundaries come together as one. Everyone who’ve been at the events have been Malaysians.

The National Sports Day is the culmination of the Fit Malaysia movement -- one day in a year where everyone gets off the couch, comes out, and does something, not for fitness or sports, but for themselves. To join organised runs like the Standard Chartered KL Marathon or the Spartan Race, dance at the Score FitMob, play football or badminton, or just get out there to your local neighbourhood park with your loved ones and do something.

The National Sports Day is not a political event with a political agenda, like how Teachers Day or Cancer Awareness Month are not. It was to be our step towards becoming a sporting nation and to make sports and fitness part of a Malaysian culture, identity and lifestyle. We are a sports-loving nation but we are nowhere near being a sporting nation.

That was the idea behind changing the date of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon. It was a joint decision between the ministry, Standard Chartered, Dirigo Events and DBKL, and for that I thank them for their commitment and support to this national agenda. Not only them, but all the other organisers and partners who’ve pledged to pull their weight to come together on that one day.

It was not to “hijack” their event to artificially boost participation for the inaugural National Sports Day or to achieve my KPI. We were looking for several iconic events all around Malaysia and we realised that there is a hunger for running events, evident from the spots that have been quickly sold out in these events.

I have personally been reading a lot of your comments about the marathon and have held many discussions with the organisers and other stakeholders. We have jointly come to the conclusion that the Standard Chartered KL Marathon will be reverted back to October 4, considering the many issues that have been raised.

On behalf of the ministry, Standard Chartered, Dirigo and DBKL, I apologise for the inconvenience caused by the earlier change in date and I hope that you all will still come forward to support the National Sports Day.

The Social Media Reactions to the postponement of Standard Chartered KL Marathon To October 10th As Part Of National Sports Day!

We were shocked by the press statement released by the Ministry of Youth & Sports (KBS) yesterday morning. It stated that Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2015 which was scheduled to be on 4th October is to be moved to October 10th (Saturday) as part of the inaugural National Sports Day which is already jam-packed with running events such as the first Reebok Spartan Race in Asia, HRDF Half Marathon, Run Forrest Run Trail to name a few.

The Marathon, which saw all 35,000 spots snapped up within 4 days, is said will lend a big boost to the targeted 3 million participants for the inaugural National Sports Day.

Majority of runners are not happy with the decision and they are venting out in social media like FB and Twitter!

Here are what runners have to say about the move:

Choi CC: It’s a total inconsiderate decision. I wonder if the impact of runners booking their flights and hotels are put into considerations just because KBS want to do something but cannot attract the number of participants

Marlina Ibrahim: Well, approval do come from the government. And probably this is just a cheap shot to promote National Sports Day. Unless of course, we can ask Ministry of Sports to provide us the refund.

Jon Grevich: What ***holes! Who cares if on national sports day? Bodoh government. Most Malaysians don't exercise and now you piss off the few who do? Now must leave work early Friday? What about those who booked flights and hotels? Are you trying to follow in the footsteps of the bodoh PBIM now? Got big heads and think you can do what you want because full up in 4 days? ***holes!

Stephen Dau Kidd: Shame on you KL Marathon, I have already booked overseas flights and hotel, I have always enjoyed running there in the past, but will never return now as the organisers are untrustworthy, not only do I want my entry refunded. I want my airfare refunded too.

Anonymous: How can an event like this be held on a SATURDAY?! Even those from KL would be likely to be working that day, as I would be. Am beyond disappointed, in fact i'm fuming mad! Think, KBS, think! There's no way runners from outstation would be able to finish work on Friday and fly in in time to rest well and run on Saturday morning even if they were not working Saturdays. If rakyat didahulukan, think of the consequences next time you consider meddling in running events.

Julie Wong: The sport minister said, 'the ministry will work closely with the organiser to make the transition as smooth as possible for the participants.' huhhh . .like HOW? people have make their plan, bought their air tickets, booked their accommodation, planned their work leaves and many plan their calendar in advance. so, Khairy Jamaluddin WHAT you can do and HOW you wanna address those issues? Don't mess up our running calendar.

CGL: Today is a sad and disappointing day for the sporting events industry. Today marks the day where Politics is bigger than having a sporting event to keep everyone healthy (moreover, an independently run event). Maybe I am too naive to think that the elected politicians would have thought deep enough on the inconvenience caused to 35K participants (who are also voters, btw). Boy, was I wrong... it's just a number to them. In Malaysia, the opinions and needs of the majority is no longer important, but the decisions of a few for their own agenda. Minority seems to rule. Too bad. Life goes on as they say...

Teddy Beh: Please do not simply change the date especially it's less than 3 months from event date, most runners have made plans, including myself. And to run a full marathon in Saturday morning is absurd! We need good rest on Friday night, but how to rest properly when we work on Friday until late evening? Plus Saturday traffic will be horrible. And also I pity those who have made transport and hotel arrangement early, those from other states and countries, it will be a huge blow to our nation's reputation. Please seriously reconsider not to change the date, and remain at 4 October.

CassBoy Ks: How could such a big event organizer make such changes? I have been support and run for Standard Chartered KL Marathon for years and am participating full marathon this year. Was very disappointed on such changes as I have purposely choose to fly back from Singapore just for the marathon,

Lee Hui Seng: 1st ever 'National Sports Day'(Hari Sukan Negara) project on 10 Oct is a brainchild of KBS.We dont deny it is a good concept to make every Malaysian citizen aware of benefits of sports. But there are already many other programmes lined up for that day eg The Spartan Race and HRDF Half Marathon. Why need to 'hijack' another ready-made event of 35,000 participants to achieve your KPI? If need to achieve your KPI to satisfy your ultimate bosses, then organise your own event. Dirigo Events has been working all year to organise SCKLIM and suddenly their efforts have been 'credited' to someone else with a stroke of a pen. Have we thought through the numerous inconveniences caused to many overseas and outstation participants who have booked their arrangements?I think KBS and the SCKLIM organisers made a huge mistake for following reasons:
1. Not many runners can take part on a Saturday
2. Many foreigners and ourstation ppl have booked their weekend
3. Organiser listened too much to outside interference
4. Regular runners already booked for other runs on 10 and 11Oct
5. Changing dates show indecision, especially after it was changed due to a haze that didnt happen a few years ago
6. This will put Malaysian tourism efforts in a bad light

Wong Tk: Dear Organizer, a total of 35k participants had registered for SCKLM on 4 Oct 2015 which means we all were agreed with the date. The participants are not only Malaysian but from all over the world. Please reconsider your decision to postpone the event as I believed your current decision is not final yet.

Maheswary Palanyandy: Pure bad planning!!! And who is going to refund us? They expect 35000 participants to adjust their schedule and dates! Utterly selfish and crazy!

Annie TEo: I strongly agreed to change back to 4 Oct as this is my 1st time participating Full Marathon in this year. I have purposely to fly back from Singapore just for the marathon, but was disappointed to hear about changes. I hope SCKLM really can consider about oversea runners. This is not small event, is huge event in Msia.

Andrew O'Brien: I realise a core purpose of Government is to medal and do dumb things (and this example is not that important in the big scale of things i.e. not life or death) but really, making the KL Marathon change dates after 35,000 people signed up to the promoted date is bizarre. Makes you wonder why they did not just create a new public holiday that nobody wanted! Sure hope all the travelling runners can get their money back. Malaysia is a wonderful place to visit and run but it is hard to imagine international runners will trust this race in years to come.

Ong Kian Ming: I was shocked when I read the news release by the Ministry of Youth and Sports earlier today to announce that the flagship marathon event in Kuala Lumpur, the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon or SCKL Marathon[1], has been postponed from Sunday, the 4th of October, 2015, to Saturday the 10th of October, 2015 to coincide with the inaugural National Sports Day. This move on the part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, is totally irresponsible, inconsiderate and defeats the intended purpose of the National Sports Day.

Note: Ong Kian Ming is MP for Serdang and an avid runner. You can read his full article HERE.

Runwitme Says: To KBS, yes, we are all for the National Sports Day. But, please be considerate and do not force this change down our throats just to get your numbers. We want the Standard Chartered Marathon to be on 4 October!

The running events impacted by the move:

Media Release: Registration for Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore Opens To Public On Thursday 9 July

3 July 2015, Singapore – Organisers of the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) 2015 today announced the schedule and registration fees for this year’s multi- distance event, which will take place over the weekend of 5-6 December 2015.

Touted as Asia’s marquee running event, SCMS 2015 will initiate one of the most significant changes in the event’s history. The Kids Dash – a fun run that will see up to 5,200 children aged 1 to 13 race over a 700m course – will move to a standalone event slated for the morning of Saturday 5 December, making the first Saturday and Sunday in December a weekend-long running fiesta for the family.

The change is designed to lend the Kids Dash its own unique identity and encourage even greater participation among junior runners, while preserving the Marathon’s status as an IAAF Gold Label Road Race, delivering a high quality distance running experience for all participants.

The remaining adult categories – Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km run and Ekiden – will continue to take place on Sunday 6 December, once again, flagging off from Orchard Rd (Marathon), Sentosa (Half Marathon) and Esplanade (10km Run).

Tickets for the general public will go on sale on Thursday 9 July. A new pricing structure sees the introduction of different ticket prices for Residents and Non-Residents. With Super Early Bird tickets now available to the general public, runners will be able to secure their place on the start line for the Marathon for S$70, the Half Marathon for S$65, 10km Run for S$55 and Kids Dash for $15.

Additionally all runners who competed in SCMS 2014 will receive a 10% discount on registration fees across all categories. Standard Chartered Bank cardholders will receive

15% off the normal registration fee as well as guaranteed Super Early Bird prices two days before tickets go on sale to the public on 7 and 8 July.

Speaking about the price changes for SCMS 2015, Chris Robb, CEO of event organiser Spectrum Worldwide said, “The registration fees for SCMS 2015 have been agreed in conjunction with Sport Singapore and reflect the increased costs of staging a world class event of this kind. However as part of our commitment to keeping SCMS 2015 accessible to everyone, we have introduced preferential pricing for Singapore Residents as well as a number of discounted rates including the Super Early Bird ticket offer and the discount for 2014 runners.”

“The cost for the new-look Kids Dash remains unchanged, despite what will be a greatly enhanced carnival atmosphere on Saturday, while the price for entering SCMS 2015 remains extremely competitive for an IAAF Gold Label Road Running event. The SCMS 2015 presents very good value for money when compared to similar events around the world and I’m sure will once again be widely embraced by Singapore’s running community,” continued Robb.

The announcements follow SCMS 15’s launch of Singapore’s first ever Digital Queue which opened on 29 June, allowing participants to get ahead in the SCMS registration using the hashtags #SCMS2015 and #DIGITALQUEUE on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. With five days still to go before the Digital Queue closes, the initiative has already attracted over 1,700 participants with numbers steadily rising each day.

The top 100 ranked participants in the digital queue on 8 July will get to register for their chosen SCMS category for free, and in a first for the race, the top 10 entries for the full marathon will join the elite runners at the front pen at the Start Line.

Aspiring runners can also join the SCMS launch event on 9 July at Plaza Singapura to clinch a commemorative Golden Bib. Exclusively available to the first 200 persons in line, the Golden Bib offers 50% discount off SCMS registration fee across all categories.

AK Balloon Run 2.0 @ Avenue K

Run for your healthy lives in the city!

After an adrenaline-packed kick off in 2014, the AK Balloon Run 2.0 is back! The fuchsia themed fun run will congregate running aficionados in the city with the standard 7 km Men’s and Women’s Open category on Sunday, the 16th of August.

Three new categories will make their debut this year, the International Men’s and Women’s 7 km Open making the run open to expats this time round and the Men's Veteran Category. The delightful Family category will also make a comeback so the whole family is highly encouraged to join in.

What makes the AK Balloon Run special is that runners are required to run with four balloons tied to their body, which is to be carried with them throughout the race. Each balloon remaining once the runner completes the race then acts as a time booster to the official finishing time achieved, deducting 5 seconds

The scenic route will take runners through the heart of the golden triangle passing by the iconic twin towers on Jalan Ampang, through the skyscrapers and landmarks on Jalan Pinang, Jalan Binjai and Jalan Mayang, then finally completing the race over at Avenue K’s main entrance on Jalan Ampang again.

Top three winners in the Men’s, Women’s and Family categories will be rewarded with cash prizes while the remaining top 10 qualifiers will receive prizes. The top 1500 finishers overall will receive medals while everyone who participates gets a goodie bag and a t-shirt.

Media Release: BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon Runs High

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 July –The BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon 2015 (BSNPNM) has received a remarkable response from the marathon enthusiasts with all 12,000 places taken up less than 10 days after it opened for registration on June 22.

Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) will be once again become the exclusive Title Sponsor of the BSNPNM for the 5th year running which is set to take place on October 24 – with the start and end points of the event to be at Istana Kehakiman, Presint 3, Putrajaya.

“We have achieved our target of 12,000 entries, approximately 2,000 more than last year, representing a healthy 17-percentage increase, and besides Malaysia, we have participants from Singapore, Thailand, Australia, China, United Kingdom, France, Japan, Kenya, New Zealand, Nigeria, Russia, United States and many more,” said Race Director, Mr. V. Nithiaseelan.

“The increase is definitely an encouraging trend as all the full marathoners are timed athletes, making them serious runners, which goes to show how this event has encouraged amateur runners to train harder and attempt the distance of 42km,” he added.

BSNPNM 2015 will not only include a full marathon (42.2 km), but also a half marathon (22.1km), 10KM Corporate CSR Run, and a 5km fun run with a total of RM89,000 in cash prizes up for grabs. The marathon will take the runners through the boulevards and signature bridges of the country’s administrative capital.

In 2014, a total of RM100,000.00 was collected through the corporate participation and donated to the Persatuan Dyslexia Malaysia (PDM).

"We share the same aspirations with BSN to make it as an event that can be participated by everyone from all walks of life and we also support BSN initiative to enhance its social responsibility to help those in dire need.
