Press Release: Puma Night Run - A Night Run filled with Fun



SETIA ALAM (26 October 2014) – Thousands of running enthusiast came from all walks of life and swarmed Setia Alam in Selangor for the first ever PUMA Night Run yesterday



Organised by PUMA Malaysia, the 3,000 allotted running slots were filled up within the first three days of the launch which was held in August this year.



The PUMA Night Run was flagged off by Melvin Siew, Country Manager for PUMA Malaysia, at precisely 7.30pm. The atmosphere was simply electrifying as the runners braced through the cold night under brightly-lit street lights, passing through gazetted tracks as they were cheered on by members of the neighbourhood.

Setia Alam is the choice of the organisers for the PUMA Night Run due to its beautifully planned, well designed infrastructures and environment. Despite the cold weather which enveloped the Night Run, the runners were least perturbed by the weather.

The PUMA Night Run is a custom-designed run spanning across 10km around Setia Alam. The night run was a fusion of fitness together with fun. This night run encouraged runners to experience the joy of running and to work hard in completing this night course.



Jasni Khairil Jamalludin, a 34-year-old government servant, bagged the first place in the men’s open category in a time of (36 minutes and 5 seconds) followed by Moey Wooi San in second place (39 minutes 27 seconds) and Lim Guo Hua Alvin third (40 minutes 4 seconds).

In the women’s open category, Loh Chooi Fern, a 22 year old student, crossed the finish line first (42 minutes 3 seconds). Michele Tan Bee Kiang came in second (43 minutes 25 seconds) while Michele Chua Khit Yeng bagged the third place. (45 minutes 47 seconds).

Jasni, who finished three minutes ahead of his nearest rival, said: “It was a great yet challenging run and I am really proud to win the men’s category. Furthermore this was my first night run, so this win makes it extra special for me.”

As for the winner of the women’s open category, Loh Chooi Fern, 22, commented: “This is the best night run that I’ve ever participated in. The roads were wide for the runners and also the whole running route was well-lit, making it easier for me to complete this race.

Both Jasni and Chooi Fern took home the grand prize of RM 2,500 worth of PUMA vouchers.



Melvin Siew, Country Manager for PUMA Malaysia, mentioned: “PUMA wanted to organise this run specifically for all running lovers. We are certainly very happy with the support for the Night Run.”

“PUMA will surely come back stronger next year with more slots and more excitements. We will work harder to make this an annual event for all running enthusiast out there that missed a chance this year,” added Melvin.



The fun did not stop after crossing the finishing line, as runners were treated to a great big party! Hosted by Phat Fabes there were amazing line ups that were scheduled for everyone in Setia Alam. Performances from DJ Anowl, Elecoldxhot (ECW), Koujee and many more made it a memorable night.



In conjunction with PUMA’s new tagline, Forever Faster, the PUMA Red Wall was also a challenging moment for all.
