The Mid Valley City Charity Run 2019 raised RM100,000 Raised for Teach For Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 23 Sept 2019 - Jointly organised by The Gardens Mall and Mid Valley Megamall, the Mid Valley City Charity Run 2019 was held for its sixth consecutive year on 22nd September. However, due to the haze, the organisers made a decision to shorten the route distance and advised all participants to enjoy a walk instead of the planned 5km fun run.

Most of the route was indoors, going through both Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall. Nevertheless, all participants’ registration fees, amounting to RM100,000 was channelled to Teach For Malaysia for their efforts in ending education inequity.

After their walk, participants were then given the option to sweat it out by joining a group Zumba session conducted by Fitness First and Celebrity Fitness or head straight to redeem food and beverages prepared by sponsors. Those who chose to stay for the Zumba session saw Antony Barragry present a mock cheque to Teach For Malaysia Managing Director and Co-Founder, Dzameer Dzulkifli.

Lucky visitors to the exhibition also got to be part of Teach For Malaysia’s weekend interactive performances whereby volunteers posed as B40 (Bottom 40%) students gave visitors a taste of what Teach For Malaysia Fellows experience during their classroom lessons.
