The Haze Moved The Cheese?

Running With Cheese Posted by Picasa There is a little story about two mice (named Sniff and Scurry) and two little people (named Hem and Haw) who lived in a land called KayEl Valley. They all had signed up for a Rat Race 2005, a race that offered a staggering amount of cheese as the prize at the finish line. However, on the day of the race, the haze came and engulfed the whole KayEll Valley, making the road to the finish line invisible. No one could see where he or she was going in the haze. Despite the hazy condition, Sniff and Scurry proactively sniff their way to the finish line and get their cheese medals. However, the little people were not so resourceful. Instead of sniffing and scurrying towards the finish line, the two little people, Hem and Haw just sat on their big fat @sses and blamed their neighbours for open burning, blamed the sky for no rain and blame the southwest monsoon for causing the haze. Hem didn’t think of proactively seeking detection methods or educate the planters about the hazards of open burning. Haw didn’t bother about enforcing the environmental laws. Both just sat there hopelessly to wait for the haze to clear miraculously. Hem and Haw experienced the haze problem a few years back and apparently never learn from it. Sounds familiar? Anyway, hope you enjoy reading this little story I "adapted" from Spencer Johnson M.D. bestseller Who Moved My Cheese?”. For your information, the actual RAT RACE 2005 that supposed to be on today has been postponed indefinitely due to the HAZE. I hope they won't postpone the Malay Mail Big Walk this weekend. I have wiggled and trained for it and I will not let a little haze to go between my race and me. Hey, what's a little haze compared to the normal smog we inhaled from the exhaust pipes of cars everywhere? (Insert choking and coughing sound effect here!)

Running in Times Square

BTS Merdeka Hunt Posted by Picasa This hunt was exhausting, mentally and physically. BW and I scurried around like crazy maniacs from the lower ground floor to the 7th floors of Berjaya Times Square (BTS). Hey..Those were 8 floors all together in BTS, tagged as the ‘world’s largest building ever built in a single phase’, with 7.5 million square feet of built up floor area. Then, there were more clues at the 3 floors of Plaza Berjaya across the road. We didn't even have time to go to the Plaza Berjaya. The clues were not in sequence and at all over the places, so it was impossible to cover all the grounds at the given time of 2 1/2 hours. Sob! Sob! We kissed the main prize worth RM10, 000 goodbye. However, the experience was good. We managed to get most of our answers and treasures correct but we had our fair shares of silly mistakes too. Give us a little bit more time and we soon will join the league of elite treasure hunters.

Boring?

MPAJ Run & Goodies Coupon Posted by Picasa I called Larian MPAJ "The Most Boring Run of All " last year. Hmmm...I wonder how it will turn out this year. My friends are going for it. I have yet to decide as I am waiting for a confirmation for a treasure hunt event this Sunday. The T-shirt is boring, plain white with uninspiring logo in the front and nothing printed on the back. Read about last year's MPAJ run write up & pictures here: http://runwitme.blogspot.com/2004_08_01_runwitme_archive.html

Teenage Mutant Ninja Weapon

Klang! Klang! Posted by Picasa Last year, we complaint about super thin tin can Klang Run finisher medal. This year the organizer had overzealously upped the weight by few folds. Now, it feels metallic heavy. It looks metallic heavy too. From its shape, it could be the medal most likely to be used as a weapon in a domestic dispute. (Insert LOL here).

The Emperor's New Clothes

Itsy Bitsy Yellow Three Stripes Tee Posted by Picasa I have never missed King of The Road by Adidas. It is one of my favorite run because I love the Adidas T-shirt provided. Each year, I would register twice so that I can get 2 shirts. - One to wear and another to keep as my collection. This year’s T-shirt comes in yellow with Adidas prominent 3 stripes (blue) running along the length of the shirt, a reversal of last year blue T with yellow stripes. The T-shirt appearance debut at the KOTR registration desk at Klang Run 2005. Day & Time: Sunday 7:30am Date: 4th Sept 2005 Venue: Dataran Merdeka Forms are available at FTAAA.

Nicol is HOT!

Go! Nicol Go! Posted by Picasa I had a blast watching Nicol David, our national squash player smashing her way to beat Holland’s Vanessa Atkinson (reigning champion and World No1.) to become the first Malaysian to win the Malaysian Women’s Open squash title at the National Squash Centre at Bukit Jalil last Saturday. It was a nail biting – 3-9, 9-3, 1-9, 9-1, 9-4 win for Nicol. At times, my heart almost popped out watching the vicious exchange of smashes from the two girls. Here are some pictures of Nicol I took when she was addressing a bunch of reporters after her championship. I had to sneak into the court for the pix but it was all worth it. (Whoa...check out her delts and biceps...)

Isn't She Lovely?.... Posted by Picasa
