City-Link Express Collaborates with Weststar Maxus to Implement EV Vehicles for A Sustainable and Greener Last-Mile Delivery

YB Teo Nie Ching (Deputy Minister of Communication & Digital) officiated the launch of City-Link's EV vehicles, witnessed by Dato’ David Tan, Mr. Ronald Tan (Chairman of City-Link Express), Dato’ David Tan, Mr. Ronald Tan (Chief Executive Officer of City-Link Express (M) Sdn Bhd), and the Orang Besar of Kuala Langat District, Tengku Dato’ Mohamad Al-Haj Bin Tengku Harun.

Bandar Saujana Putra, October 23, 2024 – CITY-LINK EXPRESS, a leading courier company in Malaysia, has made significant advancement in its service capabilities by partnering with Weststar Maxus to incorporate electric vehicles (EVs) into its delivery fleet. This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to achieving Sustainable and Greener Last-Mile Delivery through environmentally responsible practices.

Under this strategic collaboration, CITY-LINK EXPRESS will integrate three electric vehicles from Weststar Maxus, the official distributor of Maxus vehicles in Malaysia and a subsidiary of Weststar Group. Maxus is recognized for its range of commercial vehicles, including innovative electric models.

YB Teo Nie Ching, together with Mr. Ronald Tan, witnessed the signing of the partnership agreement between City-Link Express and their strategic partner -  Weststar Maxus,  Everise Stellar, Sunview Group 

This partnership reflects City-Link Express’s dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies, reinforcing its efforts to promote green logistics while enhancing operational capabilities. By embracing sustainable transportation solutions, the company affirms its responsibility to protect the environment.

Implementing ESG practices offers numerous benefits, including reduced noise emissions, decreased carbon footprints, and lower pollution levels from transportation activities. The event is honored by the presence of Deputy Minister of Communications, YB Puan Teo Nie Ching; Chairman of City-Link Express, Dato’ David Tan; CEO of City-Link Express, Mr. Ronald Tan; Orang Besar Daerah Kuala Langat, Tengku Dato’ Mohamad Al-Haj Bin Tengku Harun; and Senior Director of the Climate Action Group at the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), Puan Norhasliza Mohd Mokhtar.

In his address, CEO of City-Link Express, Mr Ronald Tan emphasized, “To achieve a sustainable future, we must invest in solar power and electric vehicles to reduce emissions. Collaboration among government, businesses, and communities is vital for effective green logistics. City-Link Express is committed to eco-friendly practices through our investments in renewable energy and recyclable materials. Together, we can lead by example and create a greener future.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Communications , YB Puan Teo Nie mentioned, “The courier industry has greatly improved, becoming faster and more reliable, especially with City-Link Express leading the way since 1979. This company has created over 2,391 jobs and helped keep businesses connected during the pandemic. Malaysia is attracting significant tech investments and is launching initiatives to boost AI, reduce reliance on foreign workers, and support local businesses. Together, we look forward to a brighter future for Malaysia’s courier industry, thanks to the hard work of the City-Link Express team.

Mr Ronald Tan concluded, “As we face the challenges of making our delivery systems sustainable amidst growing urban populations and e-commerce, the last mile is crucial but contributes significantly to traffic and pollution.

“To combat this, we must adopt greener practices, invest in electric vehicles and solar energy, and utilize smart logistics to optimize operations.
