Press Release: Have a Break, Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, 17 April 2014 – Did you know that 9% of Malaysian professionals confess that they would work one to three hours a day on their holidays? Bringing their office workload home with them is not the only fact illustrating the work-centric life of many Malaysians. About one third of working Malaysians are clocking in more hours than their required office time, spending over 11 hours in the office daily to meet deadlines and work expectations.
The habit of blurring the lines between work and personal life is known to have negative effects as the long hours is often damaging to both the workers’ health and their overall productivity at work. Seeing this, Kit Kat is launching a Big Break Drive to advocate Malaysians to take breaks for long-term benefits.
Kit Kat Chunky’s Big Break Drive aims to remind Malaysians of the importance of having breaks in between working hours for its long-term health benefits and to improve work productivity. To illustrate this point, please find attached an infographic from Kit Kat Chunky that highlights Malaysians’ working habits.
For more information on Kit Kat Chunky’s Big Break Drive, please visit:https://www.facebook.com/KitKatMalaysia

Press Release: Kahlefeldt and Vodickova sizzle at IRONMAN 70.3 Putrajaya
Putrajaya, Malaysia (April 13, 2014) Putrajaya was centre stage today for IRONMAN 70.3 Putrajaya where 1096 individuals and 56 teams took on the 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run in temperatures of 90°F coupled with humidity felt like 109°F.
Brad Kahlefeldt (AUS) and Radka Vodickova (CZE) took sizzling wins at the inaugural event today, for Kahlefeldt he was at the front of the field all day but had to run scared for most of the 21.2km. It was a different story for Vodickova after suffering two mechanical problems on the bike, she was running on frustration.
Brad Kahlefeldt (AUS) led out of the swim in the men’s professional race and was pipped out of transition by Denis Chevrot (FRA). John Polson followed two minutes later and the three athletes controlled the front of the race all day. Coming into last transition Kahlefeldt was first in and out followed by Chevrot and Polson. It was then a case of running blind for Kahlefeldt as he was unaware of what was happening behind.
“It’s a great run course, but from an athletes point of view (if you are at the front) it was really hard not seeing anyone out there,” said Kahlefeldt.
“It definitely requires a different style of racing when in such humid conditions. The closing stages I really started to feel it. Hydrating early on the run is key and I am very happy to be able to take this win,” he said.
Sweden’s Frederik Croneborg has completed every IRONMAN 70.3 race in Asia and was glowing of the race and the course after crossing the line in fifth place today.
“This course gets my thumbs up for the best IRONMAN 70.3 course in Asia. The wide smooth fast roads and scenic run is great. It did get a bit lonely out there though,” said Croneborg.
Radka Vodickova (CZE) took her first IRONMAN 70.3 win today here in Putrajaya in sizzling conditions. The Czech athlete who likens Malaysia to being a second home said at the press conference on Saturday that she hoped she would not let anyone down. She kept her promise.
“I am so happy and delighted and happy (again) I could make the race interesting for spectators.”
Following mechanical issues on the bike that caused Vodickova to stop twice, meant she was seven minutes behind pre race favourite Liz Blatchford (AUS) when starting the run.
I was angry (about mechanical issues) and I used that anger to run hard. I am used to the heat and know that I can cope with the heat.”
When questioned about whether she will now step up to the IRONMAN distance, as Blatchford has successfully done. Vodickova replied; “Oh no. That's too long (pause), but then again, never say never.”
It was Blatchford’s first time racing in Malaysia and she admitted it wasn’t her best race strategy.
“I didn’t race smart today and I paid the price.”
RESULTS
Three time IRONMAN World Champion and two time IRONMAN 70.3 Champion Craig Alexander was the swimmer in Team Crowie at IRONMAN 70.3 Putrajaya
The World Champion did get chicked in the swim but took it all in good humour admitting he hasn’t been up to much for 3 weeks. “That girl took off like a rocket. And I didn't take it easy.”
Alexander was at the finish line to meet his teammates for the team finish line shot.

“Sometimes when racing as an athlete you are not as accessible so this weekend give me the chance to have fun and take part with a couple of Malaysian’s in a relay team and get to see more how the events works. It also lets me help promote a new event in a region that is simply exploding.”
Post presser Alexander was swamped by a frenzy of Malaysians hunting for autographs and photographs. “It is humbling, I started out doing this because I love it and still love it. If people recognise me, I love that.”

With Craig Alexander taking part in a relay team on Sunday Kahlefeldt now leads the charge for the professional men’s race. “Its really easy to travel up to Malaysia from Australia. Great location and venue I am looking forward to Sunday.
Liz Blatchford like Kahlefeldt has recently made the transition from short course racing to 70.3 and IRONMAN. “I loved ITU but I have loved the swop. It seems to suit me. It’s great to be here and is the first mail race of the season for me”.
Originally from the UK, Blatchford now resides in Australia and races for Australia admits to liking the heat. “Personally I love the heat. I would advise be smart on hydration and don't over do it early on otherwise you may find yourself walking in the run.”
Radka Vodickova (CZE) spends a lot of time in Malaysia training and got a rousing round of applause when she likened Malaysia to being her second home. “I hope I don’t disappoint all of my friends here, I have trained on the course a lot, its fast and smooth and looks beautiful”.

Press Release: Sponsors of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon Return For The Sixth Year!
Kuala Lumpur, 7 April 2014 – In the effort to once again engage communities in healthy living and contribute to the growth of Malaysia’s sports tourism industry, sponsors of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon returns this year to the much anticipated event. This will be title sponsor, Standard Chartered Bank’s sixth edition to the Marathon with MSIG Insurance and Honda confirmed as gold sponsors.
According to Rainer Biemans, Director of Dirigo Events, event owner and organiser of Standard Chartered KL Marathon, “This is the sixth year in the running that we have organised Standard Chartered KL Marathon and we would like to thank our sponsors for their continuous support. Apart from sponsorships, they have certainly gone the extra mile in contributing to the community. Our sponsors have worked closely with our charity partners, contributing to organisations including Standard Chartered Foundation (SCF), Hospis Malaysia and the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM).”
CEO of MSIG Insurance Malaysia, Mr. Chua Seck Guan commented, “The Standard Chartered KL Marathon is more than just a running event. Being the gold sponsor since its inception in 2009, we believe it is a purposeful one, promoting healthy living and giving back to the community - beliefs that MSIG strongly shares. The Standard Chartered KL Marathon provides us with the platform to engage well with the local community.”
Mr. Yoichiro Ueno-san, Managing Director and CEO of Honda Malaysia said, “It is a great pleasure for Honda Malaysia to once again be part of this international event. We’ve seen tremendous growth of participations in the last few years, which is a true testament that the event has grown and rooted as a popular and important annual event for Malaysians. We would like to encourage all runners in the Standard Chartered KL Marathon and it is an excellent opportunity for us to show our corporate theme of the “The Challenging Spirit” and “The Power of Dreams.”
MSIG’s Ekiden relay challenge will not be returning this year with Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2014. The adjustments were made to ensure a smoother race as the Ekiden participation was limited in reach. Instead, the gold sponsor will have the naming rights of the 10km category for wider approach in encouraging more runners to participate. In addition, MSIG Insurance will also be rewarding a trip for two (2) to Osaka, Japan to the MSIG 10km winners for both Male and Female categories.
Other sponsors of the event include Seiko, 100 Plus, Brooks and Pacific Regency Hotel Group. The organiser once again hopes to provide a successful platform for sponsors given the resounding success of previous marathons. Last year, 33 881 participants registered for Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2013, a growth of 17% as compared to 2012 and 251% growth since inception in 2009. The event attracted an estimated 57 nationalities from over 50 countries.
