Let's Go Down Down Down South.... Where The Fun Is

My AdiRun Bib Posted by Picasa

Few more days to go, and I will be heading south for Singapore Marathon. Have signed up for the half marathon. I am still feeling lethargic after the 12 hours walk. Really hope I can recover in time for the run and more importantly for the Chrismas Shopping. Heheh!

SC Singapore Marathon 2006 Race Pack Posted by Picasa

For the past couple of years we have been getting the same old shoe-bags with our SG racepack. This year, I am glad that they decide to throw us not one but two bags - one hand carry (to the left) and one draw-string type (white, to the right).

Other stuff inside the bags are a pack of pasta, Race bib, championchip, Event guide, Deep Heat Rub sachet, Berocca Vitamin B&C effervescent tablets, Pamplets from Standard Chartered, Polar and Athlete's Circle.

I will be collecting my race pack when I arrive to Singapore on this Saturday. (Insert excited squeal here)

Thanks to Loneshark of Sgrunners for the pictures of the goodies.

62,702 Steps in 12 Hours

Food Fest @ Swatow Lane before the Walk. Eat kau kau lat. Posted by Picasa

Oh Boy! I this is my two consecutive weekend in Penang. Last week I was there for the AXN Penang Beach Challenge and this week for the the 3rd 12 Penang Hour Walk. And guess what? I will be there again on Dec 10 for the The Star Walk. I guess I must have fallen in love with Penang - The Pearl of the Orient.

Jamie, Aiman, Tey and I arrived at Sg. Nibong Bus Terminal about 2-ish on Saturday. We were greeted by one man welcome party - Chin Apek who took us to Swatow lane for a late lunch. We were famished. I had a bowl of Hokkien Mee (known as Prawn Mee in KL) with some cendol, popiah and Tee Nya Kueh (chilled pudding topped with brown syrup). (Insert Burp here!)

Collecting of racepack was fast. Nothing much to collect anyway - just the 2 bibs, T-shirt, championchip and the event booklet. No goodies bag but we were treated to a "lucky draw". We were asked to pick one from a bunch of crumpled papers. Drum rolled (eyes too) as the girl at the counter unfold the paper and read out what I had won. Two sachets of Deep Heat ointment. Yeah! Very lucky indeed. Others walked away with a bottle of Johnson's Baby Lotion each.

32807 steps from 00:00 to 08:00 on 26 Nov 2006. I walked 32807 from 20:00 to 00:00 earlier, making total steps taken 62,702 in 12 Hours. Posted by Picasa

This is my first time using my newly bought Sony Ericsson 710i mobile phone in a race. It has the features that I need - a outstanding Walkman music player, sport features (step counter/ calorie counter/ running program) and a decent 2MP Camera. So far, I am satisfied with the phone performance. The phone come with special holder and armband so that you can strap the phone onto your arm while doing execise. For this walk, I have strapped it around my T-shirt sleeve to avoid any chaffing of the skin. I have yet to take this baby running. Will review this in my Singapore Marathon race report. This baby gonna make its debut at SCSM 2006.

The bass is out of this world (but you need those in-ear sound piece to experience the ear-drum rippling effect). The radio reception is decent outdoor. I was listening to the Hitz FM remix program all night long. The music was fun and great to shake my booty too. Heheh!

A Reason To Run

Adidas is going all out to promote Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon. So, for the lucky Singaporean runners, they can enter this contest at http://www.adidas.com.sg/index.shtml to win themselves some exclusive Adidas T plus a personalised bib to be worn in SCSM. Non-Singaporeans like me are not eligible for the contest and can only salivate from afar. (Insert Sob! Sob! here).

At the site, you can check out many reasons why Singaporeans are putting on their running shoes. Some are pretty mundane. Some are inspirational. I found this one peculiar reason among hundreds of entries. I almost fell off my chair laughing.....
