Running clinics have been done to death by other race organisers. So, to offer something different and useful, the people behind the Bank Simpanan Nasional Putrajaya Night Marathon conducted a forum on well...running. The Klang Valley edition was conducted this morning at Sunway Pyramid. They roped in a few experts to talk about stuff that would be of interest to runners.
Sports Medicine Specialist - Dr. Aparajitha Krishnan
Sports Nutritionist (Hydration & Diet) Ms. Chai Wen Jin from Institut Sukan Negara.
Podiatrist (Foot Doctor)- Dr. Stella Chai
Marathon Coach - Mr. Sidamparam
There are plenty of interesting points that we have learned from the experts today. But it's kinda lengthy to share it here or otherwise you will end up like the baby in the below pic. Heheh!

- The finisher's medal design will be something "out of the box". You will either love it or hate it. Hmmm...

Daphne Iking, Vanidah Imran, Sofea Jane and Thanuja Trade Heels for Sneakers for the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2012
Have you ever seen glamorous celebrities trade their dresses and heels, for sports attire, sports shoes and tie up their hair for exercise?
On 24 May 2012 (Thursday), Daphne Iking, Thanuja Ananthan, Sofea Jane and Vanidah Imran traded their fancy high heels for sneakers to participate in a special training session with Mark Williams, the official coach for the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2012. Joanne de Rozario was supposed to join the training too but she cancelled due to work commitment.

Vanidah Imran(right) - Actress (The Red Kebaya)
Sofea Jane - Actress (Isteri, Perempuan dan ...)
Thanuja Ananthan (extreme right) - Miss Malaysia World 2009
The training session aims to prepare the ladies for their categories at the upcoming Standard Chartered KL Marathon. The training session was held at Taman Tasik Perdana, Kuala Lumpur at around 4.00pm.
Two of the four celebrity runners also aim to raise funds for charity partners of the Standard Chartered KL Marathon under the ‘Run for A Cause’ charity programme, of which Daphne Iking is running for EcoKnights while Thanuja is running on behalf of the Malaysian National Animal Welfare Found (MNAWF).
We are looking forward to catching them at the starting point this coming Sunday! All the ladies will be running in the 10km category. Do cheer for them if you see them running ya!
Check out the the video below where the celebrities participated in the 3 Minute Dynamic Stretching Exercise before their run.

Hey! Look who we bumped into at the Team Malaysia Fan Run last Sunday – actress and celebrity host, Vanidah Imran. She joined thousands of Malaysians at Dataran Merdeka and braved the rain plus haze to show her support for the national contingent to the Olympic Games in London.
An avid runner, she took part in the 7km category.
Vanidah was joined by her entourage consisting of a couple of journalists and also Datuk Siti Nurhaliza’s step son, Asyraf.
The run, which was organised by Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), was to garner support from Malaysians for the country's athletes taking part in the Olympics from July 27.
Every runner including Vanidah wore the Team Malaysia Panthera Jersey which is inspired by the tiger species found only in Malaysia i.e. Panthera Tigris Malayensis. It symbolizes pride, passion and love for the nation and its sporting future.
It was unfortunate that the rain poured in the middle of the race. Really heavy. Unless you have legs like Shaharudin Hashim, the national runner who happened to finish FIRST in that run, we reckoned that you must have been caught in the rain.
However, the rain lasted only 15 minutes and everyone stayed in high spirits and continued gamely. Vanidah seen sprinting to the finish line. Her entourage was nowhere to be seen. LOL!
There are not many celebrities in Malaysia who run, let alone finish a marathon. So far, I have not heard of any Malaysian celebrity who finishes a full 42km marathon. We are putting our bet on Vanidah to be the first Malaysian celebrity who finishes a marathon at the rate she is going. : )
Well, if the weighty Oprah Winfrey and the waif-like Katie Holmes can do it, I’m sure Vanidah will be able to run a 42K too.
Yay! Sultan Muzaffar completed his run with glee. Congrats! It was his first 7km.
Despite the haze and being drenched by the rain, everyone finished their 7km run.
Everyone looks so happy. Must be the "runner-high" kot. :)
One for the album....LtoR: @klubbkiddkl, @jaydeesm, @VivaVanidah, @sultanmuzaffar, @adilaramly, @AsyrafKhalid
Watch our short interview with her right after she crossed the finishing line. We asked about her readiness for Standrad Chartered KL Marathon (1okm) next week and her message to our athletes competing in the London Olympics. Pardon Vanidah for sounding short of breath. Heheh!
