Media Release: BSN PUTRAJAYA NIGHT MARATHON CANCELLED DUE TO HAZE

21 October 2015, 4.00pm We regret to inform you that the BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon (BSNPNM) has been cancelled due to haze, with the air quality in Putrajaya deteriorating to 189 as of 3pm.

We are cognisant that outdoor running during hazy conditions is inadvisable, and have decided to cancel the event based on medical advice. We prioritise the health and safety of all our participants, and have made this decision with the support of our title sponsor Bank Simpanan Nasional, and event partners - Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Athletic Association (F.T.K.L.A.A), and Perbadanan Putrajaya.

We make this decision with a heavy heart, as we understand the disappointment felt by the participants, who have trained very hard for the marathon, with some coming from afar to participate. The support from all our participants and partners throughout this challenging weather situation is deeply appreciated.

In recognition of this, all participants will be able to collect their race entitlements at Persiaran Perdana, Precinct 3, Putrajaya (race venue area) from 5.00pm to 10.00pm, on 24 October 2015. Twenty First Century Sports (M) Sdn Bhd and BSN team will be on site to assist participants should anyone have any queries or require any support, while a medical team will also be stationed on site should any help be required. For participants who are unable to collect their entitlements during this time, alternative arrangements will be announced through our official Facebook and website.

Following the cancellation, selected equipment placed along selected routes will remain in place and will be cleared in stages from 10pm onwards on 24 October. We apologise for the inconvenience caused in the meantime, as members of the public may encounter obstruction along these roads: Along Persiaran Perdana up to PICC, Lebuh Gemilang, Pesiaran Selatan, Lebuh Wadi Ehsan and Lebuh Setia. We thank everyone for their patience and understanding.

Existing funds raised from the BSNPNM 2015 will be channelled to the Department of Paediatrics in four hospitals, namely Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Selayang, Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang. The funds were raised through the collection of entry fees in the 10km Corporate CSR Run.

To keep updated on the latest news, please check www.BSNPNM.com.

Interview With Adele Wong: The Do’s and Don’t’s for PUMA Night Run 2015!

PUMA Night Run 2015 is set to take off in in less than a month and to all participants, PUMA Running Club has released their top tips to all running enthusiasts out there.

After an interview with Adele Wong representing PUMA Malaysia Running Club, here are the Do’s and Don’ts that a runner should take into consideration before the PUMA Night Run 2015.

What To Do:

1. Test your running gear/attire
What you wear on race day should have already gone through a period of “testing” during your training runs. The GOLDEN RULE is to not try anything new on race day, from what you wear to what you eat. Make sure you have proper running shoes and Dri-Fit clothing that wicks sweat away from your skin.

2. Eat Well and Drink Up!
It is important that you eat well-balanced meals with a good mix of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. You need these nutrients to recover from tough workouts during training. Remember to drink plenty of water too!

3. Listen to Your Body!
We like to do and listen to what other people say. We tend to disregard how WE feel. Listen to your body! Nobody knows you better than you. Try not to do more than what your body can cope with. Push when you can and rest when you should. You don’t want to overtrain and burn out before race day!

4. Keep a log
It is a good habit to keep a training log. That way, you can see your progress through the weeks and make the necessary adjustments to your training. Also, you can keep a record of what you eat to make sure that you are refuelling after your workouts.

5. Set a goal
The best thing about running your first 10K is that there wouldn’t be a past record for comparison. Whatever time you complete it in will be your Personal Best. You can still set some goals based on your training. It can be as simple as simply completing the race or maybe you have a set time to complete it. Whatever the goal, make sure that it is realistic and achievable. If you have done it before, aim to beat your best time!

What Not To Do:

1. Don’t Over Train
If this is your first 10KM, take it slow and easy. Build up a good base and keep it consistent. We know how excited you are to start training! The last thing you want is to be pushing the pace (beyond your capability) only to end up getting side lined by injury!

2. Don’t Do Anything New On Race Day
Practice what you will do on race day. Eat the same breakfast, wear the same clothes and shoes and go with what you have tested during your training. When you feel prepared, you will be more confident!

3. Don’t Carbo Load
You often hear people carbo loading before a race. Contrary to what you might have read or heard, you don’t need to carbo load for a 10KM race! We are not running a marathon. Stick to your normal routine on the days leading up to race day. Just make sure you are not under eating!

THE FIRST-EVER MIXED MARTIAL ARTS WEEK IN KUALA LUMPUR POWERED BY TUNE TALK EXCITES FANS ACROSS THE WORLD AS THE ONE: TIGERS OF ASIA & MIMMA GRAND FINALS DRAW CLOSER

THREE TUNE TALK WARRIORS ARE READY TO ROAR IN THE UPCOMING MALAYSIA SUPER FIGHTS AT ONE: TIGERS OF ASIA

30 September 2015 – Kuala Lumpur: The fastest-growing Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in Asia, Tune Talk, will team up with Asia’s largest sports media property and the world’s most exciting MMA promotion, ONE Championship (ONE) this October to bring fight fans in Malaysia a week-long extravaganza dedicated solely to the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

Malaysians will get the chance to witness ONE’s unique brand of MMA at ONE: TIGERS OF ASIA on 9 October followed by the Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts (MIMMA) Season 3 Grand Finals event on 10 October at Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

ONE: TIGERS OF ASIA will also feature three Malaysian Super Fight Bouts, featuring top fighters and Tune Talk Warriors Peter Davis, Ev “E.T.” Ting and Malaysia’s first female MMA athlete, Ann “Athena” Osman.

Davis is arguably the best lightweight fighter from Malaysia and he is set to move his way up the ranks to prove worthy of a shot at the Lightweight World Champion title. Davis’ next test is a veteran from Queensland, Australia, Adrian “The Hunter” Pang.

“Every fight is tough. So it will be good to get a higher class opponent with a solid record like Adrian Pang. In his last fight, he had a great guard game and solid Muay Thai but of course I’m looking to stop the fight in the first round and give the crowd an exciting match,” said Davis, who is also known for his acting and modeling gigs in Malaysia.

Also on the card, 24-year-old featherweight Malaysian, Ev Ting, is also looking forward to emerge victorious again in the ONE cage. His upcoming opponent is Philippines’ top featherweight star Honorio Banario.

“On fight night, you will see an evolutionary version of the E.T. I’m training along side other hungry ONE contenders. My team and I’ve put in a lot of work and I’m confident I’ve what it takes to get the win. I’ll take Banario very seriously because he is extremely dangerous for any fighter. I’ll come locked and loaded for sure,” said Ting.

Another popular name who will be representing Malaysia is none other than Malaysia’s first female MMA star, Ann Osman. This time, she faces the toughest challenge in her fight career when she takes on Russia’s Irina Mazepa, who is a six-time Wushu world champion and a K1 world champion kickboxer.

“Mapeza is a tough contender and a kickboxing champion. I know she is strong but I have trained really hard with my team here at the Borneo Tribal Squad and I believe I’m up to the challenge. I’m super excited and at the same time under pressure to fight in front of my Malaysian fans. But the added pressure will definitely give me the boost to fight harder for a win,” said Osman.

Tune Talk has played a major role in the growth of MMA in Malaysia and one such major effort in developing the MMA scene in the country is through the creation of the amateur tournament - MIMMA. MIMMA serves as the platform for amateurs from around the country to compete before joining professional leagues such as ONE.

MIMMA Welterweight Champion, Agilan “Alligator” Thani, was one of the fighters who showed great potential last year and was given the opportunity to go professional early this year at ONE: AGE OF CHAMPIONS. He successfully debuted against Indonesia’s Reant Febriza Rainir, winning in round 1 via TKO (punches). Up next for him is Egypt’s Hisham Hiba.

Following Thani’s footsteps is MIMMA’s Featherweight Champion Keanu Subba. The younger brother of ONE Flyweight fighter, Gianni, is known for finishing his opponents fast and has never went into third round in all of his bouts. At ONE: TIGERS OF ASIA, Keanu will take on France’s Florian Garel and is determined to show the world what Malaysian fighters are made of.

With so many amazing fights installed this October, Malaysian MMA fans are set to be thrilled by this awesome bouts brought to you by Tune Talk. Sales of tickets for ONE: TIGERS OF ASIA and the MIMMA Grand Finals by Tune Talk are now available. Log on to http://redtix.airasia.com for further details. There will also be a special MULTI-PASS discount package for both events that will multiply your excitement!
