Six kilometer run is divided into six categories including a category for corporations
Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday (September 13, 2011) – Put on your running shoes, come and have fun and at the same time, do your part for charity. The national ICT Association of Malaysia, PIKOM, is calling out to all Malaysians aged 16 and above to participate in its PIKOM Charity Run 2011 that will be held on October 9, 2011.
The run is supported by the Federal Territory Amateur Athletics Asssociation (FTAAA) and Menara Kuala Lumpur, and funds collected will be channelled to the National Cancer Society Malaysia.
Covering six kilometres, the charity run will take participants through the heart of Kuala Lumpur along Jln Ampang, Jln Sultan Ismail, Jln P Ramlee, pass Menara Kuala Lumpur, Jln Changkat Raja Chulan and Jln Gereja, starting and finishing at the grounds of PIKOM ICT Mall@Cap Square at Jalan Munshi Abdullah.
The PIKOM Charity Run 2011 is one of the highlights on the association’s calendar this year as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. No newcomer to charitable work, PIKOM has been contributing to needy organisations for many years now but this will be the first time that it is initiating such a big-scale charity event involving the public.
“We are very excited about the run and hope that Malaysians will give their full support. There are various categories for different age groups so families can participate and have a fun day outdoors knowing that they will be doing a good deed at the same time,” said PIKOM Chairman, Dato’ Wei Chuan Beng.
The five categories of the charity run for individuals are Men’s Open (16-39 years); Women’s Open (16-39 years); Men’s Junior Veteran (40-49 years); Men’s Senior Veteran (50 years and above); and Women’s Veteran (40 years and above). Entry fee is RM30 each. The first five winners in each category will receive cash as well as a medal.
