Be it shopping, entertainment, good food or even a wonderful park for your run, Melange Boutique Hotel is located right where you can find them. We would recommend this hotel if you are in town for the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon or other races located in Kuala Lumpur. Strategically located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, all the tourist attractions are easily accessible from here via public transport, including Dataran Merdeka, the start point of many KL running events. The room rate won’t burn a major hole in your pocket and leaves plenty of dough for shopping!
Here’s a list of five reasons why you should pick this cosy little hotel for your run-cation!
1.COMFY & STYLISH ROOM
Mélange was designed by fashion photographer turned creative director Daniel Goh. You can choose from three distinct unique themes – HANDSOME (TAMPAN), ELEGANT (AYU) and FUN (MANJA). We have chosen to stay the TAMPAN Room.
The Tampan room is bold and masculine as the name suggests. We like the simple yet stylish design.
There is a spacious work station, perfect to get some work done. The free WIFI connection is relatively good.
The bathroom is clean. There are two shower heads - the regular shower head, and the heavenly shower type that creates rain-like droplets on top of your head. Hair drier and basic toiletries are provided.
Other facilities include stuff that you would expect from a hotel - a small safe to keep your valuables, mini fridge, complimentary coffee, tea and mineral water. As a security measure, you need to use your room card to access the respective floor via the lift.
2. I RUN SO I CAN EAT AT JALAN ALOR
Jalan Alor - KL's biggest collection of roadside restaurants/ stalls is basically right at the door-step of Melange Boutique Hotel. You don’t have to go far to sample Malaysia’s street food. Well, if street food is not your thingy, there are a 24-hour KFC and McDonald’s nearby and also a slew of restaurants and food courts in the shopping malls.
For those party animals, we recommend Changkat Bukit Bintang where bars and pubs abound with live entertainment and drinks.
3. SHOPPING PARADISE
Melange Boutique Hotel is located just meters away from the best shopping malls in the country – Pavilion KL, Starhill Gallery, Fahrenheit 88, Lot 10, Berjaya Times Square, Sungei Wang Plaza, BB Plaza, Low Yat and Suria KLCC. Get your running shoes and gear from branded outlets such as Nike, Adidas, Asics, Puma, Under Armour and more at Pavilion KL.
If your feet get tired from running or shopping all day, there are plenty of massage or foot reflexology centres nearby to help you ease away the tension.
4. BB-KLCC RUNNING ROUTE
If you are not racing, we recommend a morning run to the KLCC Park. Evening run is doable but you have to dodge the shoppers at the crowed Bukit Bintang area.
From the hotel, head towards Pavilion KL and then take the Bukit Bintang - KLCC Pedestrian Walkway (1.173km long) to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Tip: Do not run on the walkway as the guard will try to stop you. Brisk walk!
You will arrive at the KL Convention Centre, find your way to the KLCC Park which is located right next to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers.
This beautiful park is surrounded by trees and landscaped shrubs. One loop is about 1.3km. The track is rubberised so it is not so har for your feet. Don't worry about hydration as there are drinking fountains located in the park. Snap some post run selfies with KLCC in the background before heading back to Melange Hotel.
5. REFUEL AT ROCOCO
After your morning run and shower, head over to the top floor of the hotel where Rococo Restaurant is located. Cosy and artistically decorated, Rococo is the place to unwind and refuel afer your run.
We recommend the Go CLASSIC breakfast set- comes with 2 slices of bread with butter and jam, or if you like pancake, English hotdog and scrambled egg. Complete your meal with yoghurt or banana and a cup of beverage of you choice.
