RK Snail LSD - KL City Run 2019 (16 March 2019) - Goddess of Heavenly Queen Temple

Running at the same area can be boring. Occasionally, it is good to switch it up by joining a different running group at a different area to for a change in scenery. Last Saturday, I joined the Running Kaki or RK  - KL City Run 2019 with Abang Omar. With Abang Omar, you will never know where we are heading until we are there at the start point that morning.

We gathered at Padang Merbok as early as 5:30am.

Slowly we head towards KL Sentral after passing by Taman Botani Perdana.

After a quick pit-stop at KL Sentral, we continued our run

Arrived at Brickfield. A great place for Indian food. But we have no time for that. Heheh!

The highlight of the run. The road leading up the Thean Hou Temple is super hilly! Huff! Huff!

Perched on a hill overlooking the Jalan Syed Putra, this six-tiered Buddhist temple is also known as the Temple of the Heavenly Queen/ Goddess. Dedicated to Tian Hou, a goddess said to protect fishermen, the temple is also a shrine where many come to worship Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. It is one of the largest Chinese temple in the country, Built from 1981 and completed in 1987.  It offers wonderful views of the city.

We continued to the next destination - The National Museum. We crossed the Federal Highway using the pedestrian overhead bridge near Kuen Cheng High School.

Near the Tun Sambantan monorail station.

Ran pass this majestic Sri Kandaswarmy Indian Temple, Brickfields
Another beautiful Indian temple down the road - Sri Krishna Temple, Brickfields.

A young devotee and her mom at the temple.

Holy Rosary Church @ Jalan Tun Sambanthan

A burst of sunshine greeting the city. This road  is near the KTM station, where we turned at the Majestic Hotel towards the National Museum.

The Majestic Hotel - a beautiful colonial building which is now a 5-star hotel.

Posing with some locomotive exhibits outside the National Museum.

A lost Malay?

No one would want to be caught dead using the escalator. Heheh! From the museum, we crossed the pedestrian bridge to the Planetarium Negara.

Tun Abdul Razak Memorial Park - an interesting museum dedicated to the life and times of Tun Abdul Razak, the second Prime Minister of Malaysia.

This fun and colourful gallery showcases the history and development of cartoon and comics in Malaysia from the 1930s up to the present day.

A great place to shoot your FB cover pic too. Heheh!

We came across some of the participants from the Malaysia Champions Run, happening on the same morning.

I think they have plenty of these cheesy but interesting motivational quotes along the running route.

At the end of the run, there was some sharing by Kak Rina, an RK member who will be running the 160km Ultra Asia Race in Vietnam to raise funds for Women and Children Living with HIV.

Kak Rina or her full name, Hezrina Hedzer is a 50-year-old homemaker and grandmother was deeply inspired to carry the torch for MAF after witnessing first-hand the hardships and difficulties encountered by many single mothers living with HIV.

Kak Rina has started her training since last October to prepare for the race of her life! Keeping her company for The Ultra ASIA Race is veteran marathon runner Jeff Lau, who is also the Malaysian AIDS Foundation Red Ribbon Youth Ambassador. Jeff himself has taken part in numerous extreme foot races abroad to raise funds for AIDS.

You too can support this noble cause by donating generously at https://www.simplygiving.com/appeal/triple-a-challenge-2019

No matter how small or big the donation, every ringgit and sen counts. For more info you may also visit the Malaysian AIDS Foundation's website at yam.org.my

Thank you Kak Rina for buying me breakfast - Chae Kuey Teow and Ice Coffee @ Tanglin.
