More than 7,300 participants ran the distance at the Inaugural Garmin Marathon 2019

Kuala Lumpur, November 2019 – The inaugural Garmin Marathon 2019 took place on the 2nd of November 2019, the first marathon introduced by Garmin in Malaysia. The run was held at the Putrajaya Garden City and was joined by more than 7,300 participants.

The Garmin Marathon 2019 offers 4 different categories – Full Marathon (42.195km), Half-marathon (21.0975km), and the fun run distances which include 10KM and 5KM.

The routes cover the major landmarks within the city – Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Seri Gemilang Bridge, Dataran Gemilang, Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga, dan Masyarakat (KPWKM) building, etc.

The organizing committee strives to provide runners – be it local or international runners, a wonderful scenic city view alongside the Putrajaya roads. Despite being the first edition, this marathon garnered more than 7,300 running enthusiasts from more than 38 countries, countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Japan and the United Kingdom.

Rutto John Kipkorir from Kenya came in first place for the 42 km International Men’s Open clocking in at 2:43:26 while Chong Mei Sze from Malaysia won the 42 KM International Women’s Open, finishing in 3:33:32

Mohd Syahidan Bin Alias came in first in the 42 km Malaysian Men’s Open, clocking in at 2:49:55 while Goh Bee Yin took first place in the 42 km Malaysian Women’s open, clocking in at 3:53:55.
