35 years ago today Terry ran an astonishing 42km from Port Hawkesbury to Antigonish, NS Canada. 35 years later Terry's example of courage, hope and determination is still inspiring us all.
Terry Fox was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma, bone cancer when he was 18. His right leg was amputated 15 cms above the knee.
He decided to run across Canada, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean raising money that would go towards cancer research. He ran daily for 143 days before being forced to give up the run. He ran on average 40-42 kilometers a day with an artificial leg.
