Is The Color Run Safe? Official Statement from the Organiser

We know a lot of you are freaked out of the learning at least 510 people were injured -- 183 of them hospitalized in intensive care units - after flammable colour powder apparently exploded in midair at a recreational water park in Taiwan few days ago. Source: CNN.

How safe is The Color Run then since it uses similar colour powders? We have the official statement from The Color Run Malaysia Facebook, which was posted today (29 June 2015).

It reads "The Color Run™ has no association with the venue, organizers, or equipment used at the Taiwan incident. However, we take the events that occurred in Taipei very seriously as the health and safety of our participants and our employees has always been at the forefront of our minds and actions.

We have had zero fire-related incidents in five hundred global events with more than four million participants. We are committed to staging safe and secure events.

The safety of our runners and clients is of paramount importance to us."

Update: The Color Run™ can confirm that the powder used in its events has been tested for flammability and successfully passed the required EU standards. The powder used in the tragic incident in Taipei was different from that used in Color Run™ events and was not provided by the Color Run™ supplier.

We heard the registration for The Color Run Malaysia will be open in July. The event proper will be staged in September. To get the latest upcoming run/ walk event updates, follow our tweet HERE and LIKE us on our Facebook HERE.
