Media Prima Berhad serves up the best of SEA Games 2017



As the lead up to the 29th SEA Games 2017 intensifies, Malaysia’s top media organisation, Media Prima Berhad, will serve viewers with the best of the region’s largest sports event on its digital platforms and television channels ranging from live games streaming and broadcast to medal tally status updates. Activated by Senheng, CLEAR, Wall’s and Negaraku viewers will be able to enjoy the SEA Games and get updates via the Kita Juara App, tonton, as well as TV3 and TV9.

Kita Juara App Launch
Media Prima Digital (MPD) launched the Kita Juara App on 15th August 2017 at Sri Pentas. The app which provides comprehensive coverage and updates on local football matches such as Liga Super, Piala Malaysia and Piala FA, will also provide exclusive daily highlights for the SEA Games from 14 to 30 August 2017. Users can watch snippets of the different sports, read SEA GAMES news articles (from Harian Metro), view the daily games schedule and get updates on the current results and medal tally.

tonton SEA GAMES Channels

Malaysia’s first and largest homegrown streaming service, tonton, will showcase the games from 14 to 30 August 2017 live on both its channels, Channel 1 and Channel 2, in high definition (HD). Both channels will carry the Opening Ceremony live at 8.00pm on 19 August 2017 (Saturday) and Closing Ceremony at 8.00pm on 30 August 2017.

Meanwhile, the live games on Channel 1 are Football, Hockey, Gymnastics, Archery, Diving, Badminton (semi finals and final) and Athletics. Channel 2, on the other hand, will showcase Badminton (single and double quarter finals), Netball, Weightlifting, Bowling, Cycling-Track, Aquatics (Swimming and Synchronised Swimming), Pencak Silat, Taekwondo and Wushu. tonton users will be able to live stream the games daily from 9.00am onwards.

tonton subscribers in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei who have missed their favourite sports need not worry as they will be able to catch up 24 hours after the live game is over.

Television Offerings

On 19 August 2017, TV3 and TV9 will air the Opening Ceremony at 8.00pm. Daily SEA Games highlights will be shown on TV3 from 10.30am to 11.00am and 12.30am to 1.00am while on TV9, highlights will be available from 5.00pm to 6.00pm.

Both TV3 and TV9 will also broadcast the semifinal and final rounds of games such as Football, Badminton, Hockey Athletics, Gymnastics and Diving.

For the Closing Ceremony, TV3 and TV9 will air the event at 8.00pm on 30 August 2017.
