Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon 2011 Launched on Valentine's Day

Profess your love for running by signing up for the Standard Chartered KL Marathon (SCKLM) 2011! It was launched on 14 February 2011 at official hotel, Doubletree by Hilton, the same day when all the lovers around the world express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending greeting cards. :)

We even get a special Happy Valentine's Day wish from the Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, YB Dato' Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek during the opening of his speech! How cheeky! Heheh!

YB Dato Sri Shabery Cheek said, "The SCKLM plays a major role to encourage a healthy lifestyle for Malaysias of all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels. Running is an activity that can be enjoyed by everyone - which underscores our mission to develop a society that adopts a sports culture towards our nation's unity and development."

Osman Morad, CEO and Managing Director of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad, as the title sponsor added, "The spirit of marathons embody many shared values with the Bank's brand philosophy - going the distance, preservering for excellence, a positive "can-do" attitude, creativity and passion. We are encouraged by the nethusiasm Malaysian and international runners show towards the marathon, and we look forward to be running alongside them this year together with the staff of Standard Chartered and their families."

Rainer Biemans, Project Director of Golazo Sdn. Bhd. co-organiser of SCKLM 2011 together with Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) noted, "We're pleased that the marathon event continues to grow each year. The marathon is still young but it has shown encouraging progress. From the first year of 13,500 runners, this year the SCKLM 2011 aims to host more than 25,000 runners."

From a modest beginning two years ago, the SCKLM has now grown into a powerful platform giving thousands of people a reason to feel extraodinary. What began as a simple tour with only 800 full marathon runners has increased by almost 220% to 1,900 full marathoners in 2010.

The evolution of the marathon's taglines - from the first year's "Run Your Race" to last year's "Run As One" to this year's "Run With Us" - underscores the inclusive and unifying spirit of the race.

The prize package offered for the marathon is the highest amongst all marathons in Malaysia, with a total prize money of USD100,000. The marathon is open to the general public and participants can opt to in five categories below:

Individuals - 4 different distances (Open, Veterans and Malaysians only)

Kids Dash - For kids between 6-12 years old

Run for a Cause - Raise funds for featured charities

Corporate Challenge - Compete as a corporate team while running for charity

Sponsored Entries - Run with a group of friends, classmates or anyone you choose.

During the Q&A session, we asked the organiser what are the activities lined up to promote SCKLM. We were excited to find out there are many pre-race activities that will be organised such as running clinics, roadshow and a special pre-marathon event at Putrajaya in May, in conjunction with Hari Belia Negara 2011.

Celebrunner: Elaine Daly wins Best Actress for "Apa Dosaku" @ Anugerah Seri Angkasa 2010

Only one word that came to our mind when we got Elaine Daly to pose for us at the post party of Anugerah Seri Angkasa- STATUESQUE!

Heheh! We finally got this right after the third try.

We could see why. It's tough to balance oneself on one leg wearing a pair of killer heels from Manolo Blahnik 'Christian Louboutin'! Thank you Elaine for being such a sport!

See how excited presenter, Vanidah Imran when she found out that Elaine Daly won Best Actress for TV Drama... The host, Daphne Iking was also shouting like crazy from the floor. LOL! We are all very proud of Elaine Daly!

Elaine Daly won Best Actress for her outstanding performance playing the part of her late grandaunt, Sybil Kathigasu, the Malayan heroine who helped the resistance during the Japanese Occupation!

The 60-minute, eight-episode Astro Citra TV series called Apa Dosaku? (What Is My Sin?) is based on Sybil’s memoirs, No Dram of Mercy. It was aired in May, last year.

The series was directed by Bernard Chauly who also won the Best Director in the Anugerah Seri Angkasa.

....with other grand winners of Anugerah Seri Angkasa.

Currently Elaine Daly can be seen on Bella, a women talkshow on Monday to Friday 11.30AM and Sunday 1.30PM on ntv7. She also has recently launched her won collection of bags called Daly Bags.

CONGRATULATIONS to Elaine Daly! Pelakon Wanita Drama TV Terbaik: Apa Dosaku (Astro CITRA)

We didn't get the chance to watch the series because we do not have Astro at home. The trailer looks impressive though.

Check out the trailer of "Apa Dosaku" featuring a bloody, bruised and battered Elaine Daly below!

"Covert Affairs" Silent Mission Stunt @ Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur

On Feb 12, curious shoppers witnessed some live spy actions as mysterious female spies invaded the malls in Kuala Lumpur around Bukit Bintang area.

Suddenly, we got into the chasing of spies business and followed these mysterious ladies around. LOL!

These ladies were all dressed up uniformly in white trench coats, red hats and red stilettos.

Each of them also carried a matching red bag.

We heard similar looking ladies were also spotted in busy areas in Taipei and Singapore.

It was actually a publicity stunt by DIVA Universal channel to welcome all of us to join their secret agents to discover the world of secrets and spies in Covert Affairs. :)

Covert Affairs is a slick spy drama starring Piper Perabo (Coyote Ugly) and Christopher Gorham (Ugly Betty, Jake 2.0), premiering first and exclusively on DIVA Universal on 17th February, Every Thursday @ 9pm.

Check out the sunglasses and radio earpieces. Are they spying for the latest bargain in BB area? LOL!

Espionage has never looked this good!

ENJOY!

Celebrunner: Nazrudin Rahman (Naz) @ Jamuan Petang 1Malaysia with PM Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Razak

Yay! We got Naz Rahman of ntv7 Breakfast Show Host to give us a running pose today. Actually, we wanted to get our PM YAB Dato' Sri Najib Razak to pose for us but the mob of people at the tea party made it impossible to get close to him.

So, we grabbed the emcee for the tea party, Naz Rahman instead. Same initial N. R too. Can do-lah! LOL!

Thanks Naz for being so sporting!

Yours truly is one of the "lucky" 500 people ranging from 16 -72 year-old who got picked for the tea party with the Prime Minister at his official residence in Putrajaya.

When we arrived at Seri Perdana around 3:30pm, there was a queue snaking up to the gate of Seri Perdana. After got our name and IC checked we wee ushered into the garden of Seri Perdana where a huge tent was set up for the event.

Goodies bag - a 1Malaysia mug, 1Malaysia booklet, Office of PM Mouse pad, Office of PM fridge magnet and a 100-page comic book title "Transformasi Najib".

The man arrived in his buggy around 4:30pm. Wifey supposed to join him but he told us she was held up in an interview in her home. But she didn't turned up anyway when the event ended.

The event was quite casual. It started with a welcome speech by the PM followed by a Q&A session. And of course there were food! Good glorious Malaysian favourites like satay, char koay teow, roti canai, rojak, roast lamb etc.

8 lucky persons get to sit with him in the same table.

The PM addressed us as his friends, on line friends. He tweets. He facebooks. He blogs too. He wants to get close to us, his online friends.

For those non-believers, he assured that he is the man behind his tweets. Not his P.A. He added that he usually find time to tweet during his commute from putrajaya to KL and back. He also tweets at night before he sleeps.

Naz cheekily joked about how smooth and fair Najib skin is. But we also notice that his lips are quite rosy too. In fact the colour matches the red backdrop behind him. LOL!

Najib answered four questions from the floor. (The questions were pre-submitted when we rsvp-ed the invite). Nothing very heavy...you'd probably read them in the papers tomorrow so I won't elaborate here.

There was a quick group photo with the man himself before he was ushered back to his residence by a few bodyguards. He was supposed to go to meet us table by table but he got mob to sign autograph of his book. So, that didn't happen.

I took solace on the food-lah! Stuffing myself silly with all the yummies while the rest crowd around him like bees to their queen. In fact I actually prefer his Open House, at least everyone get to shake his hand. Oh well!

Can you spot the PM?

Photos & Review: 'Terima Kasih Cinta' @ Istana Budaya

Terima Kasih Cinta (TKC) a musical theater adaptation of a Malay movie called CINTA. I remember this movie as a cry fest when I watched few years ago! Heheh! So, it would be interesting to see how they translate the emotionally drenched scenes from the movies into theater with songs and dances!

The stage is made of six moveable gigantic cubes where all the five stories about L.O.V.E. interwine and unfold. The characters in the five stories are "colour-coded". I think it is a brilliant way to distinguished them. If all of them were to wear white as in the promo poster, those at the back would have serious problem identifying them. (Insert thumbs up for the producer)

The pink couple. (Shajiry Damery & Faradhiya)

The yellow siblings. (Anding & Deja Moss)

The blue encounter. (Latiff Ibrahim, Safura, Diddy Hirdy)

The green couple. (Vince Chong & Nadia Aqilah)

The orange family. (Tony Eusoff, Norish Karman and that little girl. Anybody know her name?)

So, what's the verdict? Did the emotional scenes from the movie translate well to Panggung Sari, Istana Budaya? I guest it worked because we saw some people in the audience wiping their eyes and some sniffling was heard too. Heheh!

I am not going to write a super duper long review. In points form, here are the things like about TKC:

1) The fantastic songlist - Dia (Sheila Majid), Gemilang (Sheila Majid again! I loike!), Cinta, Perpisahan, Sejati, Dunia Ku, Selanjur Bercinta, Janji Manismu, Itu Kamu, Seribu Impian, Belaian Jiwa dan lots more.

2) Nifty choreography to go with the songs.

3) The stellar cast members with amazing vocal pipes. (Erm...not all but some songs really gave me goosebumps!)

What we don't like about TKC: The blinding flourescent lights on the stage. It's too bright for the our eyes, especially when they are turned on after the emotional scenes. (Insert cue for tissue here) LOL!

Catch Terima Kasih Cinta at Istana Budaya by The Creative Partnership, 19 February - 6 March 2011.

For more ticketing info, click HERE.

We will post more pics from TKC soon. Please comeback for updates.

Acknowledgment: Thank you to Sultan Muzaffar for the ticket! :)
