Toyota Start Your Impossible Outrun 2026 Draws Over 7,500 Runners, Raises RM200,000 for NCSM

The mid-year running calendar just got a massive boost of energy and goodwill. UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) successfully concluded the fifth edition of the Toyota Start Your Impossible (SYI) Outrun 2026 at Dataran Wawasan, Putrajaya.

Held on Sunday, 5 July 2026, the annual charity event welcomed over 7,500 participants and raised an impressive RM200,000 in support of the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM).

Strong Turnout Across Three Categories

The event caters to all fitness levels, featuring a 5KM Fun Run, a 10KM Competitive Run, and a 21KM Half Marathon. This year saw a massive surge in competitive entries, proving that the event is becoming a staple for serious runners looking to test their limits.
  • 21KM Half Marathon: 1,800 runners
  • 10KM Competitive Run: 2,200 runners
  • 5KM Fun Run: Families, first-timers, and leisure runners
"What makes this fifth edition significant is the consistency of support behind it. Toyota SYI Outrun has become a mid-year run that Malaysians return to because it is accessible, positive and connected to a cause that continues to matter." — Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor.

Race-Day Highlights

Set against the iconic architecture and scenic routes of Putrajaya, the event area was buzzing with a lively event village atmosphere for runners, supporters, and volunteers alike.

RM138,000 Prize Pool: Top 10 finishers across the competitive categories walked away with a share of the massive prize purse.

Star Power: The event marked the first official UMWT appearance of Muhammad Ammar Aiman Nor Azmi, who recently debuted in the Global Team Toyota Athlete (GTTA) programme. The Johor-born para sprinter and Asian Para Games gold medallist perfectly embodied Toyota's Start Your Impossible philosophy and their vision of "Mobility for All."

First introduced in 2019, the Toyota SYI Outrun has a history of supporting wellness and inclusivity—previously partnering with the Paralympic Council of Malaysia before continuing its impactful collaboration with NCSM.

Runwitme says:

It is always inspiring to see the local running community rally together for a meaningful cause, and the Toyota Start Your Impossible Outrun has truly solidified its spot as a must-attend mid-year event. Hitting over 7,500 runners is no small feat and seeing 4,000 of them tackle the competitive 10K and 21K distances shows how much the running culture in Malaysia continues to grow.

Kudos to UMW Toyota Motor for their consistent long-term commitment to giving back—raising RM200,000 for the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) gives every stride taken at Putrajaya an even deeper purpose. Having gold-medallist Ammar Aiman there to inspire the crowd was the perfect icing on the cake. Looking forward to seeing how this event evolves in the years to come!
