DIGI INTERNET PIMP MY DAY CHALLENGE - TEAM PIMPKY

What? Digi Internet Pimp My Day Challenge.

When? 4:00pm 9 January 2010.

Where? Mardi Gras, 1-Utama Shopping Mall.

Who? Organised by DiGi and Nuffnang.

First and foremost let me introduce our team. We called our team - PIMPKY! Four of us - Saimatkong, Tallboyz, Emeryn and yours truly.

I have met Saimatkong a year ago when we were "put together" in a team in a treasure hunt for a mobile phone company. I have not met Tallboyz and Emeryn before. Both are Saimatkong friends. All of use a avid bloggers and fellow Nuffnangers.

You don't get to see much of my photos here just like my previous posts (because I'm not a camwhore too shy). But I hope you enjoy reading this post. Do watch our the videos embedded and discover how pimped our day was by Digi!

We didn't what to expect from the challenge. Initially I thought it was a mall treasure hunt! But I was wrong. Read on...

The DJ at Mardi Gras was pumping hot dance music while waiting for the briefing to start!

Some who got "digi-fied" for the challenge. :)

A razzle dazzle Paparazzi. :)

We were given a short briefing on the challenges at about 3pm.

Our mission: We got 8 challenges to do and 2.5 hours to complete them.

Aren't we all Facebook addicts? :)

What? We were set to do the impossible?

We charged forward and determined to complete all the challenges in 2.5 Hours to prove them wrong!

PIMPKY! PIMPKY! ALL THE WAY!

We were "spoiled" by choices. Which one to tackle first?

We decided to take a chance on It's A Hit batting cages at the roof top of the mall. It was a tough place to find. We had asked a few people to get the right direction. When we got there, there were a few teams ahead of us already.

While waiting, we strategized on what to do next and plan our course.

Now, let's play balls. It was my second time at a batting cage.

Sounds like fun, eh? We were given each 15 balls to hit. Special prize to those who can hit the yellow Digi board hung at the end of the cage.

We were happy because we escaped with no zero hit! LOL!

Our prized champion batter! Mr. Tallboyz scored 11 hits out of 15. (Insert applause here)

We scurried to Digi outlet for your next task called One O'clock, Two o'clock, Three O'clock Rock!

We were timed for this challenge. The fastest team to create a playlist at Digi Music Portal and add a song each from Akon and Lady Gaga would win the challenge.

Confession: Since all of us have never been to the music portal, we took quite some time to trial and error. But we managed to complete the task. Like many new things in our lives - one you got the hang of it, it is relatively quite easy to do the task.

Create your own playlist and download your favourite artistes music here.

Digi Music Portal

Lights! Camera! Action!

Our creative and "acting" skills were put to the test in coming out with a 30 seconds video ads featuring Swatch and Digi Internet at the Swatch outlet.

Here's our finished product! A very low budget ad! We simple don't have time to rehearse and one take was all we have. :)

You can stop laughing NOW! :P

Next, we rushed to a sanctuary in the shopping mall called The Rainforest.

Our task was called Now The Net Lives On Your Phone.

We had to watch a video streamed via Youtube with Nokia N97 connected to DiGi high speed internet connection.

Then, we were required solve a riddle related to the video with some cryptic numbers given.

We hope we gave the right answer! LOL!

The next task took place at The Rainforest too. A breath-taking task! LOL!

Each of us were given three darts to shoot on the target in the Bull's Eye challenge.

Check out Emeryn's first blowing experience here.

Nope! We didn't get a bull's eye but we got some marks!

Next!

The Likely Average Speed challenge was carried out at Celebrity Fitness.

Not enough of having us scrambling around the mall, they made us run like mad hamsters on the threadmills! LOL! All the team members had to run. 800 meter at the fastest possible speed and winner would be calculated from the highest average speed.

Phew! Easy peasy for a runner like me but my other team mates were struggling! But everyone managed to complete this task without having to call the ambulance! :)

One more to go! Our last task in the list was SuperModel You at QuikSilver outlet.

Simple? We just have to dress up in QuikSilver and pose for a photo. But it was not enough just to look pretty, so we decided to go for a killer pose!

Check out our back bending efforts and award winning pose! LOL!

Submission of our passport. Did we make it on time?

Who said it was unlikely for anyone to complete the tasks in 2.5 Hours? We did it with some time to spare! I attribute our completion to teamwork and never say die attitute. We clicked instantly as a team and worked our way through all the challenges as ONE team! ALL THE WAY! (Insert pats on our backs here!)

JoJo Struys was the emcee of the evening. We got a shock because she fell off the stage at one point during the prize giving ceremony! Thank God she is OK!

The winner of each challenge was given a prize. We PIMPKY team emerged top in the SuperModel challenge at Quiksilver. Our prize? RM300 voucher for each one of us! Heheh! That settled my Chinese New Year clothes problem! :D

Everybody walked home with a Digi Limited Edition Prepaid Internet card last night. (Thank you Digi!)

The overall results of the challenge will be announed soon. The deadline of blog submission is extended due to some technical reasons. (Insert happy faces here because we can do more touch ups to our posts).

We hope we can land our hands on the brand new lappies. :)

PIMPKY! PIMPKY! ALL THE WAY!

Oops! Almost forgotten about this video! LOL! Actually, I was trying to erase this whole episode from my memory but I figure my blog post would not be complete without it. So here it is - Our challenge back at the Mardi Gras Club. Our no rehearsal and one time only attempt to pole dancing.

Watch at your own risk, okay? :D

Now check the real thing out! This is pole dancing DONE RIGHT! Just like what DIGI have done right to Broadband :D

The two dancers were super hawt, right?

Finally, check out our ULTIMATE VIDEO: A six minutes clip of mad dash across the 1-Utama Shopping Mall to complete all 8 tasks and then some. We can gladly say that DIGI had PIMPED Our DAY!

ENJOY!

Ne-Yo Year Of The Gentleman Tour - Live in Kuala Lumpur Photos and Video Clips

What? Ne-Yo (Live in Kuala Lumpur)

Where? Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach, Malaysia

When? 7 January 2010

Who? Organised by Phuture Phlow

Thanks to Auntie Man, we got two free tickets to watch Ne-Yo. Auntie Man couldn't make it because she was still limping due to a snatch robbery incident last week. :(

So, this post is dedicated to Auntie Man. Hope the photos and the videos will help to ease some pain caused by sh*tfaced ci-toot snatch thieves.

The event was held at Sunway Lagoon Surf beach. The drained out the beach for the concert. So, we were like standing in a dry swimming pool! LOL!

The backdrop of the stage is the stunning world famous Sunway Lagoon Hotel & Resort building.

I arrived at Sunway Lagoon around 7pm. The crowd already started to build up. Waited for a friend of Auntie Man, Deanna to pass her the extra ticket. We were allowed into the venue around 7:30pm.

Show was opened by Najwa. (Thank god, no Reshmonu! LOL!) She is a talented singer with a booming voice. But we Malaysians didn't seem to appreciate opening acts. Very impatient lot. I heard a lots of boos and mock yawns around me! LOL!

Advise to concert promoter, save your money on opening acts. They are likely to be boo-ed off stage than appreciated. There are other avenues to promote new artistes. Otherwise, keep it to just 2 songs, max! We don't pay to WAIT for the main act! Sad but true. LOL!

Then, Ne-Yo came to save the day night, literally. The opening was set like an ER scene. Ne-Yo resuscitated the music scene with his "sonic" defibrillator...(Insert electic zap here!)

...And came the tribute to Michael Jackson. The crowd roared!

Ne-Yo performed his strings of hits among others - Because of You, Sexy Love, When You're Mad, Go On Girl, Miss Independent, Mad etc.

Some songs I am not familiar with. Anybody has the official set list?

He was sweating buckets! It was so hot and humid. I was sweating buckets too! We all did! Ne-Yo joked that he would lost few lbs because of the heat! But he said the sweat was worth it because of us! LOL!

Another reason Ne-Yo sweat buckets! LOL!

Introducing....Miss Jadyn Maria.

She sang a couple of songs, one of it was Good Girls Like Bad Boys. We actually want to see more of her. She's HOT! LOL!

FYI, Jadyn was the first artist signed to Ne-Yo's Compound Entertainment label.

Fu-Yoh! Floor excercise in session. LOL!

The simple and bare stage. Ne-Yo filled it up with his amazing vocals and dance moves.

I was standing to a bunch of young guys and they knew all the words to each and every song played! Amazing!

Some drama on stage. Ne-Yo was not the one kissing the bride. It's a prelude to So Sick!

This is what Ne-Yo might have seen from the stage. The view of the Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach Volcano.

He is no diva but he needed a change of clothes. He swapped his black shirt with a white one. But all the gurls at the back kept telling him to "take it off." LOL!

Peace to everyone!

Later, Ne-Yo took of his white shirt. I think Ne-Yo was aware of Malaysia's strict censorship rule and decided to keep his vest on.

More dancing!

Getting Closer. Pun intended. LOL!

Concert ended around 11pm with Closer. Bye bye Ne-Yo!

Check out the videos. So Sick is my favourite Ne-Yo song! Can't get "that stupid love song" out of my head! Yup! Love the horn section! :)

I have inserted Ne-Yo's guarantee - that was not the last time we gonna see him in Malaysia! Maybe next time he should demand for a air-conditioned venue. LOL!

Ne-Yo performed a strings of hits medley, song written by himself, made famous by hot artistes like Beyonce (Irreplacable), Rihanna (Take A Bow), Mario (Let Me Love You) and Jennifer Hudson (Spotlight).

I enjoyed myself tremendously at the concert! Ne-Yo has proven that he is not only a talented singer songwriter but he can rock the stage too!

We are looking forward to seeing this gentleman in KL again. :D

Sunway Lagoon Nite Park

Sunway Lagoon is almost a stone's throw away from my home. So, when I heard about the FREE entry to Nite Park (up to 3 Jan 2010), I quickly grab my camera and the faithful tripod for some night shooting! (Insert slow shutter speed here)

Photos posted were taken in three different nights due to bad weather and cancelled Red Indian show.

Had fun trying out different shutter speeds on the Wagon Wheel. Here are the amazing outcomes.

Slow

Chief Crazy Houre Carousel

The Vulture

The Red Indian Fire Breathing show. Was disappointed my takes. Not able to get the "fire-coming-out-of-the mouth" shot! :(

Dancers moved around the stage and was quite difficult to track and focus on a tiny viewfinder.

Anyway, the show was brilliant, befitting the theme of Wild Wild West and the dancers were very obliging when asked to pose for photos. (Insert applause here)

This is the newly open dance club - The Opera. Very chic and stylish glass panel walls on the facade.

Trying out some long exposure shots of Sunway Pyramid. This is my favourite because of a "stray" headlights trail, thanks to a taxi detouring to pick up passenger.

I don't have a video for this post. Instead I present to you a slide show.

ENJOY!

Saucony Pacemakers Network Run 2010 (Part 2 of 2)

Thanks to all of you guys who like the first video! Crazy frog rocks, right? :D

For Part 2, I have attempted something that I had never done before - putting a ballad as the soundtrack of my running video. Not only a ballad but a Mariah Carey ballad! You probably know that she is my most favourite singer in the world!!!

I had chosen this song for its inspiring lyrics. I feel that Mariah has not done something "inspiring" close to her megahit "Hero" before until this one comes along.

She brings back the Mariah we used to adore. Back the era when her uplifting voice captivates the very soul of us. Back to the time when she need NOT show off her boobies and talentless husband to the world. ;)

This song will be my theme song for 2010! I hope there will be a remix version to pound the tarmac.

I had also painstakingly typed in the lyrics of the song in the video. So go on, sing along as the video plays. (Insert 5 octave vocals here! LOL!)

ENJOY!

Note: I had to use dailymotion for this vid because YouTube disable the audio due to copyright. But this stupid dailymotion video doesn't embed into my blog. So, expect a pop up window and occasionally some stupid adverts when the video is clicked.

Saucony Pacemakers Network Run 2010 (Part 1 of 2)

What? Saucony Pacemakers Network Run 2010

When? New Year Day 01.01.10

Where? Lake Garden

Who? Organised by Pacemakers Network. Sponsored by Saucony.

How far? For guys - 12.32km (3.08km x 4 loops) and girls - 9.24km (3.08km x 3 loops)

Volunteering for my first event this year! Been volunteering for these race since I do not know when. I didn't have much sleep. Had a rare time catching up with my friends from college after the New Year countdown.

I took a long walk from my friend's house where I put up a night in Bukit Bintang to Lake Garden. Stopped in Lebuh Ampang for a cup of Kopi-O to perk the day up! So, I was more than "warmed up" when I reached the start point.

Meet the girls you met before the run (for timing chip) and after the run (for medal and goodies!)

The events by Pacemmakers Network always "sold out" long before the race day. No difference with this one. I could see the number of runners keep growing from rac to race! Congrats Pacemakers Network! What a start for 2010, eh?!

Small race, International timing chip! :D

(From left) Kelvin Ng (Race Boom Box), Wong Kei Meng (Race Director cum timekeeper) and Ronnie See (Race Supervisor). Erm....What's wrong with Ronnie See? LOL!

I usually would record the must have, flag off and the prize presentation. In between, I am free to explore and shoot runners doing their actions....

We were blessed with excellent clear weather! I think the execution of the run was almost flawless. No baton throwing fit this time. LOL! The run ended on time, about 10am....Got some time to catch some zzzz....before I started to edit the videos.

The true blue volunteers. These are the people who made the Pacemaker Network Run a possibility.

Check out part one of the video. I called it the CRAZY FROG CLIMB! Runners had to a crazy climb up a 170-steps stairway up to the Tun Razak Memorial Building EACH loop!

A couple of days earlier, the race captain/ supervisor, PM1 Ronnie See suggested a few song for the video. He even sent me some mp3 files. Among others - Mimpi by Malaysian idol, Daniel Lee (Yawn!) and a Greek song called Emeis Oi Dyo San Ena(Sabai Remix). LOL! Didn't know that Ronnie's song taste is so eclectic! I picked the the most "fun" one.

I had fun editing the video, hope you have fun watching it too.

Caution: Please do not adjust your monitor. :P

ENJOY!

Watch out for Part 2. More exciting video coming soon.

Happy New Year 2010!

New Moon? Well...Actually it's the New Year Moon.

This year I spent the New Year Eve with fiends from college. Whoa...We go back like close to 20 years! Can't deny that age is catching up on us. LOL!

It's nice that we are still together after all these year. Hope for many more to come.

After a scrumptious dinner of roast lamb, satay, pasta, salad, homemade fruit jelly...and a couple of homemade Mojito, we all walked to Bukit Bintang to start the "countdown" for the new year and watch the must-have fireworks display.

Here are some shots. This is the closest I could get to the boom boom pow without getting sprayed by the crazy revellers.

If still photo is not your cup of tea, here's the video.

ENJOY!
