We were quite worried when the sky started to pour in the morning and noon time on the day of Nike We Run KL 2012. Thank God, the heavy rain subsided at around 4pm, less than 2 hours from the actual flag off time. We felt relief when we received an SMS notification from Nike that the race would go on as scheduled!
When we arrived at the start area, Hitz FM DJ, JJ and Ean were already there to hype up the runners. We could see a sea of runners waiting eagerly to start the race.
Thanks to these people in Nike, we get to run and at the same time cover the race. Thank you NIKE!
No wonder it rained! See the lightning on the t-shirts! OK I know, lame joke. Heheh!
The race flagged off at 5:30 PM on Jalan Ampang with the route taking runners through the AKLEH highway and past some of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic buildings such as the Petronas Twin Towers and the Kuala Lumpur Tower.
A sight that you don't normally see on the AKLEH highway!
Yes! We Run KL, all right!
Check out who we bumped into...The guys from Kyoto Protocol! Is that a camera strapped on the head? We would love to see the footage! :)
You are not running in Kuala Lumpur if you don't see the KLCC Twin Towers and KL Tower in the skyline.
Thirsty...Let's have a drink first. :)
It was a great experience. It was our first time running a Nike organised race in Kuala Lumpur even though we have run the inaugural Nike Human Race in Singapore a few years back. Check out the report HERE.
The sweaty crowd, the sound of thousands of feet stomping on the highway and the beautiful skyline. No rain can dampen this awesome run!
But no thanks to the heavy downpour earlier, Padang Merbok had turned into a giant mudpit. We gotta wade through an inch thick mud to get to the finisher T-shit booth. The queue was long and crowded. We wished we were at the stage taking pics of the performers on stage but too bad we have to spend close to 30 minutes in the mud to get to our finisher T. :(
We Ran Kuala Lumpur, but We Walked "Lumpur". Heheh!
Young actress, Koe Yeet is loving Nike We Run KL VIP lounge. :)
A 10K finisher T. A momento to remind you that you have run with 15,000 runners in the streets of Kuala Lumpur!
Check out the video - the flag off and the street dancers who entertained the runners with performances comprising of different music genres. From the street beats of hip-hop to the energetic sounds of K-Pop!
