Media Release: Treknology Opens Cycling Mega Store In Malaysia
Kota Damansara, 9 February 2015 – Treknology Multisport Shd. Bhd., which celebrates 25 years in offering top-of-the-line bicycles for casual and serious cycling enthusiasts, opened their mega store in Malaysia. Located at Jalan Teknologi in Kota Damansara, the Treknology 3 mega store offers 9,000sqm of retail space with bicycles to suit every age group, budget and levels of intensity when it comes to cycling. Customised bicycle fitting and bicycle maintenance is also offered, making this store a one-stop centre for cyclists.
The store’s opening was officiated by Deputy Federal Territory Minister Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan and witnessed by His Excellency Mr. Vanu Gopala Menon, Singapore’s High Commissioner to Malaysia and Jens Voigt, Trek’s ‘Ambassador of Awesome’.
“This mega store Treknology 3 in Kota Damansara is a source of pride for us as it is one of our largest stores in Malaysia. We’ve grown leaps and bounds since our operation commenced 4 years ago and with the growing interest of people cycling - be it for leisure or health and fitness, we are able to expand and open the mega store here in Kota Damansara,” said Mohan Mirwani, Chief Operations Officer of Treknology Multisport Shd. Bhd.
Mohan added, “The reason why we built this mega store is to show how serious Treknology Multisport Sdn. Bhd. is about cycling by making sure that it caters to everyone, from the young to the old, from casual riders to competitive cyclists. We have a variety range of bicycles to suit to each and everyone’s needs. Our range of bicycles highlights the Trek brand which is popular amongst serious cyclists while we are also excited about our new line of Electra cruisers, hot and popular in Europe, and now available for the first time in Malaysia.”
“In line with the government’s initiative in turning Kuala Lumpur into a green city, we are excited to see more interest in cycling in Malaysia. We are encouraging Malaysians to cycle on the first Sunday of the month which is called 'Cycling Day' in the city of Kuala Lumpur. We are delightful with the opening of Treknology 3 as this gives cyclists more opportunity to join ‘Cycling Day’. Under the 'River of Life' project, City Hall is considering providing special lanes to encourage public to use bicycle as a main form of transportation in the city,” said Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan, Deputy Federal Territory Minister
Jens Voigt, the brand ambassador for Trek, flew in from Germany especially for the launch and was happy to meet fans and media at the event. Jens whose long career in professional cycling has earned him a strong fan base around the world including Malaysia amongst cycling enthusiasts. Jens broke the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) hour record of cycling 51.110 km in an hour in September 2014.
“I am happy to be able to share my passion in cycling with cycling enthusiasts in Malaysia. I started cycling as a hobby at the age of 10 and I have not stopped till today. Cycling for the past 30 over years, I am seeing the number of cyclists is increasing. My passion for cycling has always pushed me to challenge myself and that’s how I manage to set the UCI record before retiring,” said Jens Voigt.
The mega store offers the latest cycling hardware and accessories.
“We have also hired four local cycling fanatics who will be able to offer advice to beginners and exchange tips and routes with cycling devotees,” added Mohan.
The store is open daily from 10 am – 7.30 pm.
