New Balance Opens "Past, Present and Future" Concept Store at Fahrenheit 88

New Balance, one of the leading running brands and Rockport, an American footwear brand have stepped into the heart of KL city at Fahrenheit 88 and were officially launched their stores today 18th June, 2011 at 2pm. Thanks to the generous people at NB, we get to witness this unique 2 in 1 launch. Heheh!

The launch was hosted by model turned emcee Hansen Lee.

Director for NB Asia Pacific, Mr. Darren Tucker.

Lucky people...Julie Wong was called to the stage to receive her lucky draw prize - a pair of Rockport shoes. Not before I won a pair of NB shoes myself. Heheh! We are so lucky...lucky lucky lucky.....

Ribbon cutting ceremony @ NB Outlet by Mr.Robert Lim (third from left) who is the Managing Director of Stream Group, which carries NB and Rockport brands.

This outlet has the Past, Present and Future concept. The walls are made from replica Boston bricks, whilst the interior is littered with wooden display windows, iron chandeliers as well as old telephones and fans.

The ceiling sports a lightbox that spans all the way from the front to the back of the store illustrating New Balance's evolution in footwear innovations.

Celebrities alert! LOL! Debbie Goh and Hero Tai of ntv7.

We think both of them will be participating in the ntv7 Feel Good Run this 3 July. So, we got them to do some running poses for you. Heheh! Nice or not?

Debbie is running to the store to check out them shoes....Heheh!

The Rockport store is located just next to NB. This is the first concept store in Malaysia by Rockport, one of the global leaders in men and women's footwear.

As a runner, I am more attracted to what NB store has to offer vs Rockport. (Insert dripping saliva over the new arrivals...heheh!)

Get you NB running gear here!

Of all things I see in the NB outlet, this one is the one I like the most. You can take the geek out of running but you can't take running out of a geek. Heheh!

Check out NB and Rockport shop at G15 and G14 Grd Floor @ Fahrenheit 88, Jalan Bukit Bintang respectively.

PETA Kicks Off Summer Running With the PETA Pack

Whether you're just thinking about taking up running or you're setting a goal for your next marathon, training to run a half-marathon (21km) can be a daunting prospect. Fortunately, there's an easy way to stay motivated this summer (we in Malaysia is having all year long summer, but the source of this write up is from USA, so let's go along with it, ok? Heheh!) with the third annual PETA Pack, a group of runners around the world who will team-train to run a race for animals in late September or early October. (Anyone going for Putrajaya Night Marathon on 15 Oct? The PETA pack is perfect for you. :D)

Throughout training, Pack members will also be raising funds to support PETA's groundbreaking work to help animals. Registration continues until training begins on July 1. The PETA Pack is open to runners of all ages and fitness levels, from seasoned marathoners to folks who haven't so much as jogged since high school gym class.

PETA will provide a comprehensive training schedule for three levels of runners (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) as well as weekly team e-mails filled with exercise ideas, healthy vegan recipes, and more! Better yet, professional vegan triathlete and Thrive author Brendan Brazier has signed on as the PETA Pack spokesperson. Throughout the three months of training, he'll be keeping Pack members on their toes with training tips and advice.

More information about PETA's work is below, and the PETA Pack page is available HERE.

Note: PETA, the largest animal rights organization in the world, focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in laboratories, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. The organization also works on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds, and other "pests," and the abuse of backyard dogs. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns.

News: Last-Minute Khudyakov Blows Away Laguna Phuket International Marathon Course Record

Russian whirlwind Vsevelod Khudyakov blew away Laguna Phuket International Marathon’s course record in a stunning time of 02:33:51, just 24 hours after arriving on the paradise island from his home near Vladivostok on Russia’s eastern seaboard to make a last-minute race registration.

The 22 years-old engineering student slashed almost six minutes off the 02:39:23 record set by Australian Stephen Paine in 2009 and streaked home more than 17 minutes ahead of nearest rival American Christopher Paulett, who finished second in 02:51:24, followed by third-placed Lekcome Caradloung of Thailand in 02:54:31.

Overcast skies and a gentle sea breeze made perfect running weather for the destination marathon’s biggest-ever field in its six-year history, with some 5,000 runners from 45 countries in a medley of full marathon, half marathon, 10.5 km run, 5 km Community Charity Walk and a 2 Km Kids’ Run.

Khudyakov, whose hometown Khabarovsk on the Trans-Siberian railway suffers winter temperatures of -30 degrees Centigrade, has run marathons in Russia, Europe and India, but this was his first visit to Thailand and he arrived at Laguna Phuket from the airport on Saturday afternoon to register with just minutes to spare before the entry cut-off time.

“I read about the marathon and decided I wanted to run it,” he said. “It was a beautiful course and very unlike any I’ve run before. I really enjoyed my marathon and I’m very pleased that I finished so well.”

Winner of the women’s marathon was Mari Kauri of Finland in 03:30:46, with Moira Lowe of Great Britain second in 03:39:07 and Australian Angela Steven third in 03:42:45. The top Thai female finisher was Prateep Thongchai in 10th place at 04:03:00.

With the event focused on fun, celebrity runners added to the carnival atmosphere at Laguna Phuket. Thai film star Mario Mauer – the event’s Charity Ambassador - sparked excitement from fans as he led schoolchildren from Baan Klong Mai Daeng School in Surat Thani on the 5 km walk to raise funds for their flood-damaged school as part of Laguna Phuket’s Developing Sustainable Schools community initiative.

Elsewhere, three contestants from reality TV show The Biggest Loser Asia, with a combined weight loss of around 150 kg, completed the half marathon as part of their new fitness lifestyle, with Atikom Laksanapanal finishing in 02:36:39; Picharatch Phunthawornawin in 2:40:06 and Scott Hanna in 03:14:27.

And marathon centurion Julia Thorn, the first Australian woman to run 100 marathons, clocked up number 115 in a time of 05:24:58.

Thanks Robin of LPIM for the news update.

Photo: Jolin Tsai 蔡依林 Myself Live In Malaysia Concert @ Stadium Merdeka

Phowarrrr...If Madonna and Kylie Minogue have an oriental love child, Jolin Tsai would be the baby! She sang, struted, crawled, twirled and most importantly struck a pose on the stage....to a full house stadium at Stadium Merdeka yesterday night.

She emerged from a HUGE LED globe on the stage, opening her concert with "美人計" (Mei Ren Ji or Honey Trap). Her costume reminded me of something that Madonna would wear during her Blonde Ambition tour - pointy conical bras. LOL! Jolin looked sizzling!

We are sharing some pics taken during her concert. Photographers were allowed in front of the stage for first five songs before we got ushered to our seats at the right side of the stage.

ENJOY!

Jolin performed more than 26 songs for the Myself concerts. The costume change is the most I have ever witnessed in a concert. Almost one song to one costume! LOL!

With glitz and glamour for stage presence, Jolin no doubt has earned herself as one of the greatest dance divas in the East. She is such a joy to watch. Her moves are sharp and alluring with the gracefulness of a ballerina. We loike very much! Heheh!

Check out more photos of Jolin Tsai below:
