Deborah Henry is set to spread her ahem...wings and soar at the Miss Universe 2011 beauty pageant in Sao Paolo, Brazil on 12 September this year to compete with other beauties around the world for the coveted title.
Her national costume is unveiled in a private function held at the Light House Bistro in Sunway Lagoon yesterday. It is designed by esteemed Malaysian designer, Amir Luqman and inspired by the Malaysian kite called the "Wau".
This costume cost a jaw-dropping RM380,000! :O
Precious stones sponsored by Mogok Jewels like the rare pigeon blood rubies, emeralds and topaz are handsown onto the costume to add glitter and glam to this beautiful masterpiece.
Here's the full description of the masterpiece by Amir Luqman:
1) The head, represented by the oval-shaped headgear.
2) The hummer, represented by a dangling multitiered gold encrusted headpiece.
3) The eye, represented by a floral-embroidered bustier made from Roay Terengganu Songket sponsored by the Yayasan Tuanku Nur Zahirah, a foundation under the royal patronage of Her majesty the Queen of Malaysia, Seri Paduka Baginda Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Nur Zahirah.
4)The wing, represented by the hand movement when holding the tail piece.
5)The waist, represented by the placement of the waist itself.
6)The tail-piece, represented by the deep green songket placed at the waist and will be lifted by both hands.
