Cancer victims support group Pink Ribbons Deeds (PRIDE) Foundation and Coronade Hotel Kuala Lumpur launched a year-long "We Care With Pride" fundraising programme on 25 January 2011 at the hotel.
We were treated with a belly dance by members of the Middle Eastern Dance Academy led by president Nancy Bakshy as the opening gambit.
During the launch, Coronade Hotel started the donation ball rolling by presenting a cheque of RM2,000 to PRIDE Foundation.
Hotel guests will be presented with a pink ribbon and a muffin when they donate at least RM10 and light up a "Tree of Hope" at the hotel's lobby which symbolises the hopes of breast cancer patients.
There was also a muffin making demonstration by the chefs of Coronade Hotel for the media and guests at the launch.
Orange Muffins, baked with Pride. :)
Present at the launch were PRIDE Foundation adviser Nasirah Aris (blue dress) and Coronade Hotel general manager Sazrul Fadzil.
Nasirah said the funds raised would be used for its various activities to help breast cancer patients by PRIDE Foundation.
Also present was PRIDE Foundation volunteer Ranbir Kaur, a breast cancer survivor since 2000.
She openly shared her ordeal fighting breast cancer and stressed the importance of early detection which can be done by regular self-inspection by all women and men. Yeah...Men do get breast cancer too!
The hotel will also begin to educate the guests and clients on breast cancer awareness by distributing materials and literatures provided by PRIDE Foundation.
