KL Dragons step up for inclusion in the "Challenges Buddy Day" – Run and Walk for Friendship 2016



The men’s and women’s team from KL Dragons has pledged to play together, grow together and champion people with disabilities, by signing up to take part in Challenges Buddy Day – Run and Walk for Friendship 2016 - a day of camaraderie and inclusive fun for persons with and without disabilities, in conjunction with International Friendship Day.

This team of athletes are now making time amidst their very busy schedules to participate in Challenges Buddy Day – Run and Walk for Friendship 2016, which takes place on Sunday, August 21st 2016 at Dataran DBKL, Jalan Raja Laut; covering a distance of 7km along some of KL’s memorable landmarks.

By taking part, KL Dragon hopes to raise awareness and participation of 1000 entries to help Challenges Buddy Day – Run and Walk for Friendship 2016 to provide support, advice and information to more than half a million disabled people and their family members every year.

Of the team’s pledge to support Challenges Buddy Day – Run and Walk for Friendship 2016, their spokesperson said, “The time has come for all of us to promote, make aware and mobilize support for issues relating to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society. Our long-term vision as KL Dragons is to be a self-sustaining professional team in Malaysia. In order to achieve such a feat, support and care from each and every one of us is vital as a team. We are confident with our involvement, our friends from government and private sector will also do the same. In other words, we just want more friends and for everyone to have a memorable time!”

Mary Chen, Chairperson for Challenges Buddy Day – Run and Walk for Friendship 2016 said, “We are delighted that KL Dragons has gracefully take on this challenge in support of our work. As a social enterprise, we hope that the money raised by people taking part in our Buddy Day will help us in achieving our objective and that is to help persons with disabilities and their families overcome their own challenges in life. We are all about empowering society for the better, so that these special people and their families can have the same opportunities as everyone else.”

The Challenges Buddy Day – Run and Walk for Friendship 2016 features four different categories, the details of which are in the table below:



*Open to all individuals aged 13 and above. All participants shall be entitled to receive a T shirt, Medal, Goodies Bag, Refreshments & E-Certificates.
