If you are a fan of Awie (Wings), you will get OD-ed at Istana Budaya in the coming months for he will be featured in two back to back music events - Lat Kampung Boy Sebuah Muzikal (16 March - 3 April)and then Konsert Opera Hidup (29 April - 1 May).
Konsert Opera Hidup is held in conjunction with the band's 25th anniversary this year. It is oganised by Bombbay Worldwide and Anggerik Event with Red On Black.
We got a sneak peek of the concert in the press conference held at the Borneo Baruk Club (BBC) this evening. We are mighty excited with what we have seen.
Wings will be backed by a 43 musicians from Orkestra Simfoni Kebangsaan (OSK) and a choir!
And there will be special segments featuring ex-member of Wings and guest vocalists - Mus (of MAY) dan Mel.
Awie, Joe, Black and Eddie will be bringing you their hits spanning 25 years like you have never heard before. So be prepared to be blown away by Wings!
Abang Jo of Istana Budaya cracking a joke. According to him, Wings will be the first rock band to perform at Istana Budaya. Amy (of Search) did a show last year but it was a solo event. So did Queen of Rock, Ella.
The Konsert Opera Hidup is the brainchild of Wings lead guitarist, Joe. Not much was revealed about the setlist and the technical aspects of the show as they are still working on it.
Awie is a busy man. He is jungling between rehearsal of Lat Kampung Boy, filming of Husin, Mon dan Jin Pakai Toncit (sequel to Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah) and also Konsert Opera Hidup.
