Penang, 25 June 2013 - The Zombie Rush is expected to be launched by the Penang Chief Minister YAB Mr. Lim Guan Eng on 14th July 2013. Zombie Rush is a different type of run where there will be ‘zombies’ to chase after the participants. This is the first time such a run is taking place in Penang Island.
The event will be held in Youth Park and Botanical Gardens to further promote the beauty and nature of Penang Island and as a plus point, the area enhances the theme ‘Zombie Rush’. The concept of the run is participants will be having 3 strips of ribbons that will be tied around the participant’s waist, the ribbons represent lives. Zombies in the race will than try to snatch away the ribbons from the participants as they run along the route. The first 100 participants to reach the finish line with at least one live left will be considered a survivor and will be given gold medals.
This event will also help in continuously promoting Penang Island as a running state and the profit will be donated to a charitable organization which has yet been selected by the organiser.
The entire route of the run is 6km which includes running from Youth Park to the quarry, one round in botanical gardens and back to Youth Park. The registration fee is RM 50 that will include Brooks T-shirt, Food and Beverages, Goodies bag, One day Insurance and lucky draw session. Certificate of participation will also be given to every participant. We are also implying a 5+1 package for groups who wants to register.
Side events such as aerobics, health check and lucky draw will be included on the day of the event. Attractive prizes await the lucky draw winners.
