Press Release: The Mines Charity Run 2013

Over 1,000 runners took part in The Mines Charity Run 2013
Raised RM33,880 for Pusat Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Cornerstone, Selangor

Seri Kembangan, 2 June 2013 – After successfully held in year 2012 which saw 500 runners contributed total RM16,500 to Rumah Charis, The Mines Charity Run 2013 is back again with a bigger support from the community.

Since the registration opened from 17 Mar till 6 May 2013, over 1,000 runners have registered and successfully raised total RM33,880 for the underprivileged children from Rumah Kebajikan Kanak–Kanak Cornerstone, Selangor, a children protection home sheltering 25 children aged 4 to 17 years old.



Besides the public contribution to help the children’s education fee and daily expenses, the home also receive total 10 units of computer tablet worth total RM11,900 sponsored by Toshiba to improve on the children’s learning process.

“The Mines as a neighbourhood mall has always been committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and giving back to the communities that we operate in. With the theme Together We Run for a Better Future, we are very grateful and excited to see people from all walks of life joined our effort in giving back to those who are less fortune.” said Mr Alan Cheong, Centre Manager of The Mines.

“We are also very thankful to our partners for their generous sponsorship and strong support in this Charity Run such as Celebrity Fitness, GNC, MILO, MINES Exhibition and Convention Centre, Starbucks, Subway, Toast Box, Toshiba and Walk In.” he added.



The Mines Charity Run 2013 was flagged off at 7.30am by Mr Alan Cheong together with ACP Abdul Razak Elias, Chief Police of Serdang and Ms Angie Retnam, the Chairman of Rumah Kebajikan Kanak–Kanak Cornerstone, Selangor.

Categorized into Men Open and Women Open, this 5km running event was opened to all Malaysians and Foreigners (with legal permission to stay) aged 13 years old and above with the entry fee of RM35 per runner.



All runners would received a finisher’s medal, certificate, goody bag and breakfast provided by Toast Box, Starbuck Coffee and Milo after the race.
