Reebok Launch Floatride: An Innovative Cushioning Technology that does not compromise comfort or responsiveness – so you can float through your run.

Kuala Lumpur, 30 March 2017, Reebok, a global pioneer in running and fitness innovation and manufacturing will be launching on 1 April the Reebok Floatride Run - its most technically-advanced running shoe to date, which provides an unprecedented level of comfort and performance for runners around the world. The exciting new shoe has been in Reebok development for an extended period and offers the lightweight Floatride Foam technology that helps enable runners to float through their run.

The precisely-engineered Reebok Floatride Foam is pressure set for a consistent cell structure that provides an optimal mix of softness and responsiveness to ensure the wearer can experience high-level comfort while pushing performance. The refinement of Floatride Foam is a landmark technical step forward for Reebok Running and has stood up to countless hours of testing in a demanding category where runners are seeking the dynamic balance of style, performance, comfort and endurance.

Boasting a unique silhouette, the Reebok Floatride Run features an Ultraknit upper for support and flexibility, fusing style with new dynamic technologies in recognition that a sleek aesthetic feel is as sought-after as dominant performance. Floatride allows the wearer to look as distinctive during their run as the shoe’s unique technology will make them feel.

Scott Daley, General Manager of Running at Reebok said: “Floatride represents a reintroduction from Reebok to committed runners around the world. A lot has been invested in the research behind the technical components of the shoe and we’re delighted with the results. We’re inviting the entire running community to ‘Feel The Floatride’ and to give us their feedback on its ride and performance.”

The Floatride Run incorporates several key product features that aim to meet the elaborate and extended requirements for a premium performance running shoe:

1. Floatride Foam: Floatride Foam has a consistent cell structure that delivers the seamless integration of cushioning and responsiveness

2. Ultraknit Upper: A seam-free Ultraknit upper construction is engineered in zones to provide adaptive comfort that offers support and breathable flexibility

3. EVA Support Rim: Supportive foam rim centers and balances your foot throughout the gait cycle

When combined, all the elements of the Reebok Floatride Run work to produce a shoe that represents both ultimate cushioning and responsiveness.

During the last year of development, nearly 300 runners tested Floatride for more than 15,000 total miles of running. Floatride has received consistently impressive feedback from wear testers and in competitive benchmark testing, serious runners said Floatride stands out as an ideal offering of cushioning, ride, and weight; delivering a feeling of cushioning without compromise

Daley continued, “With most other shoes, runners must make a compromise; increase softness and lose responsiveness, or vice versa. We think of the Floatride Run as ‘cushioning without compromise’ - the best of both worlds thanks to Floatride Foam. Running is also a crucial part of our overall Be More Human brand ethos, the path by which we become the best version of ourselves, mentally, physically and socially. We believe the Floatride Run marks the latest exciting step forward in helping our consumers reach their goals.”

The Reebok Floatride Run will be available from 1 April 2017 at Reebok FitHub 1Utama, Nu Sentral, Paragon, and through www.reebok.com.

Review: LIFEPROOF FRĒ For Iphone 7 Case

Your iPhone 7 doesn’t come cheap! So, some kinda of protection is necessary to protect your investment from damages. Here’s a nifty iPhone 7 case called FRĒ from LifeProof which is well-known for its premium phone cases. Thanks to LifeProof Asia, we received a sample for review.

FRĒ offers 360° to your iPhone 7 with built-in screen protector. It is waterproof, submersible to 2 meters for 1 hour. It protects your phone from dirt and snow. It can survive drops from 2 meters, which is slightly more than the height where you are holding your phone standing up.

Installing the case is quite easy and straightforward. But before you install it, please make sure you do a water immersion test for the case just to make sure the case is good. The instruction is inside the leaflet that comes with the box. Make sure you have clean fingers and clean the surface of the phone with the microfiber cloth included in the box.

Our first impression of FRĒ is an excellent waterproof and tough case. It is sleek and not too bulky, therefore it doesn’t feel that thick in the pocket or armband, for you runners out there. It feels good in the hand even when it is wet and it doesn’t have that rubbery or sticky feel.

It looks good and even has a little window to show your iPhone Apple logo. Or you can customise it by putting a photo or picture of your choice there. Everything is fully covered including the lightning port. The lightning port can be easy access by flipping the cover. The speakers are fully covered but the sound quality is still acceptable, with the help of the external speaker grills that direct the audio out from the phone. We have no problem making calls or playing music with the case installed.

With the case on, the touch ID works very well. You can swipe, type or text quite smoothly. However, we do notice some degree of clarity deterioration with the screen protector. But it is not a deal breaker! If you prefer a crystal-clear, original screen view, you should opt for LifeProof NUUD.

Removing the case takes a little effort. You must use the little pick that is included in the box. There is another downside you must be aware of. The case will render the power and volume buttons stiffer to press. We hope it will get better over time.

All in all, FRĒ is an awesome waterproof case. It comes with a hefty price-tag though. But hey, your iPhone can only be submerged for 1m for ½ hour but with the FRĒ case, the protection is doubled - 2m for 1 hour! It will give you a peace of mind when you bring it out to the trail or running in the rain. Your heart won’t drop when your phone does.

LifeProof FRĒ is available for RM329. For more info, please visit http://www.lifeproof.asia/

More than 6,000 participants gear up for the MILO® Malaysia Breakfast Day

Penang, 19 March 2017 - MILO® Malaysia Breakfast Day returns to Penang on the grounds of Padang B, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), serving over 6,000 participants a wholesome breakfast, complemented with exciting activities aimed at educating parents about the importance of breakfast, and the role it plays in fulfilling children’s daily energy needs.

Kicking off with the 3km MILO® Malaysia Breakfast Run, runners and their families were treated with a host of exciting activities including Zumba sessions, cooking demonstrations, and treasure hunts, alongside a healthful breakfast. Mohd Saad bin Hj. Din, Senior Deputy Registrar, Student Development Affairs & Alumni Division, and Muhamad bin Mohd Hanif, Director of Sports and Recreation, USM officiated at the event.

Philomena Tan, Business Executive Officer, MILO® Business Unit said: “Even after four years, the MILO® Malaysia Breakfast Day is still the nation’s most anticipated breakfast event. We are thrilled to be back here in Penang for the second time, as we continue to reach out to families across the country, championing the importance of a wholesome breakfast paired with MILO®, which helps to efficiently release the energy from food.”

This year, MILO® aims to educate parents about the actual daily energy requirements of their children, which are higher than expected. Based on an internal study reveals that a child expends up to 1,500 kcal on an average school day, which is as much energy needed to climb a mountain, swim 50 laps in a pool, or even run a half marathon.

While a balanced breakfast can help provide children the energy they need to take on the day, it is essential to ensure that the energy from the food consumed is also efficiently released.

“We encourage parents to start their children’s day right with a balanced breakfast and MILO®, so that they can get the most out of the meal. MILO® contains calcium, Activ-Go™, a unique combination of PROTOMALT® and essential micronutrients – vitamins and minerals – which helps them to perform at their best, mentally and physically,” added Tan.

Running in its 5th year, the MILO® Malaysia Breakfast Day is part of MILO®’s initiative to inculcate healthier breakfast habits in Malaysians. The event in Penang this year saw a variety of fun activities and games for all members of the family including life-sized board games, fair games, bamboo dances, lucky draws, traditional chapteh, and much more. There were also numerous highlights for the public to enjoy including drum performances, and cheerleading.

Penang is the first city to host this year’s MILO® Malaysia Breakfast Day. Last year, the city saw a participation of over 5,000 participants.

In the coming weeks, the Malaysia Breakfast Day will be held in the following cities across Malaysia:

Running To A New Challenge at the Coway Run 2017

Kuala Lumpur, 9 March 2017 –
Lace up those running shoes ladies and gentlemen! Coway Run 2017 by Coway (M) Sdn Bhd will be making its debut for the first time on 7 May 2017 at the Starling mall, Damansara Uptown, where everyone runs forward together to achieve a healthy lifestyle and, at the same time, inspire others to follow their lead to run and face their fears.

Over the past two decades, the act of running long distance by choice has gone from a curious hobby for a few solitary fitness addicts to a full-fledged national phenomenon.

Mr Kyle Choi Ki Ryong, Managing Director of Coway highlighted that Coway Run aims to be a medium for Malaysians to step out from their comfort zones and be courageous to take that first step to a better, healthier life.

“This run is not about who comes in first place, it is about summoning that courage to face your fears with a willingness to make a difference, an improvement in your life that will build you to be stronger and confident in tackling new adversities,” said Mr Kyle at the press conference recently.

Consisting of a 5KM and 10KM run around the Starling mall area with 4 categories of men and female veteran, men and women open (for ages 18 and above), participants can expect to spot famous Malaysian fitness model Jordan Yeoh and former Miss Universe Malaysia Carey Ng running alongside other runners to cheer and motivate them at every step of the way.

Aimed at breaking the stereotype that portrays long distance running as exercise only meant for professional athletes or ‘fit people’, Coway Run wants to instil the mind-set that every step taken is a beginning to a better life. Jordan Yeoh and Carey Ng are living proofs that show how even a beauty queen and fitness model can also overcome the challenge of a 5KM and 10KM run respectively.

As the ultimate water specialist, Coway is devoted to promoting a wellness lifestyle for all and wishes to remind participants to take care of their health and undergo light training beforehand to ensure they will be in optimal condition for the run. Coway encourage its runners to check through Coway’s official Facebook page for some running tips and guide for participants, and a running clinic will also be held to prep Coway’s runners for a pre-run preparation.

In addition, to replace the fluid lost during the run, Coway will be placing three giant water purifiers at all three water stations to ensure that participants will stay hydrated throughout with the best choice of water, the better water from The Water Specialist.TM

“At Coway, we believe that every generation deserves the best,” added Mr Kyle.

“By organising Coway Run for the first time, this will help Coway to establish a relationship with the community in venturing a lifelong journey together; involving the community in doing something that gives them passion, and giving them the opportunity to share that achievement.

“This highly anticipated run could be a new beginning for participants, where they can meet people whom they share the same interests with, bond with them and motivate each other in their steps to a healthier life. Nothing beats finding people to share the feeling of satisfaction when the finishing line is reached,” said Mr Kyle.

Coway believes that with the adoption of a healthier lifestyle and through drinking Coway’s better water, individuals would be able to reduce healthcare-related costs, improve productivity in their daily lives and achieve overall better health and a robust organ system, therefore making their lives better and happier.

Official sponsors of the Coway Run include the Starling mall and 100Plus.

World Kidney Day 2017 Event in Putrajaya for ‘Healthy Lifestyle, Healthy Kidneys’

Putrajaya, March 7, 2017 – The World Kidney Day 2017 (WKD17) is an annual event and this year’s focus is on healthy lifestyle to prevent obesity as obesity can lead to chronic kidney disease. Obesity remains the number one preventable risk factor for chronic kidney disease because obesity largely mediates diabetes and hypertension, the 2 most common etiologies for end-stage kidney disease . Overweight and obese people are also more prone to develop albuminuria and, for at least some types of kidney disease, a greater amount of albuminuria and more rapid progression of renal failure. Apart from that, obesity also leads to high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, arthritis and other serious health problems .

According to WKD17 organising chair, Dr Lily Mushahar, senior consultant nephrologist, Hospital Tuanku Jaafar, one of the more effective ways of making Malaysians slim down to a healthier weight is through proper education, exposure and awareness. Dr Lily said that eating has become a part of our local culture. Our local food, especially those with high calorie content is one of the contributing factors to the high prevalence of obesity amongst Malaysians.

“We are a multicultural nation with a wide selection of delicious delicacies. However, most of these foods are usually made up of glutinous rice, coconut milk with a high content of sugar. What we can do is to educate everyone on this epidemic and create awareness for a better, healthier lifestyle through this national level World Kidney Day 2017 on the 18th of March, with the Cycling Convoy flagging off from Hospital Serdang to Taman Botani, Fun Run, Zumba and a lot more activities that promote and encourage healthy lifestyle. This year’s WKD17 celebration is special as it started off with a group of 30 cyclists pedalled 633KM from Kangar to Putrajaya over 6 days – all in a bid to raise awareness regarding the importance of healthy lifestyle, exercise to combat obesity and kidney diseases! The journey involves 16 pit stops where the 30 cyclists will spread health messages and collect signatures on a banner, which will be officially given to the Deputy Health Minister on the 18th of March at Putrajaya during the official launce of WKD17 celebration. ” said Dr Lily.

Major private companies such as Lucenxia, Baxter, Fresenius, Sanofi, Kyowa Kirin, Roche and AJ Pharma are also helping to promote and sponsor the event.

“This program is very interesting because not only will there be fun and healthy activities that everyone can participate, but there will also be a talk on kidney health awareness and how to take care of them. Being obese is very closely linked to chronic kidney diseases which can be prevented if more people are aware of their unhealthy eating habits and their sedentary urban lifestyle that lacks exercise,” added Dr Lily.

There will be free health screening including measurement of body mass index, blood glucose level and blood pressure measurement. There will also be various booths promoting health, outdoor activity equipment and a blood donation campaign at Taman Botani Putrajaya this March 18, 2017.

According to the findings by World Health Organization, about 600 million of the world population were overweight and about 41 million of children under the age of 5 years are either overweight or obese .

Revealed recently by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, obese Malaysians make up 17.7 percent while the ones that are overweight make up about 30 percent, bringing the percentage to 47.7 percent in total. Statistically, Malaysia is the most obese country in Asia and the officials blame it on the high calorie diet and sedentary urban lifestyle . The health minister has also warned that the country is in the midst of obesity epidemic.
