Media Release: BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon Returns With New Look and Feel!

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 August – At a press conference today, the organiser of the BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon (BSNPNM) announced a major rebrand of the city’s largest annual night marathon by introducing a new, refreshed logo identity and adding the 5km Glow Run as one of its offered categories.

BSN Deputy Chief Executive, Siew Kin Meng said the rebrand exercise is timely following an amazing response from marathon enthusiasts when all 12,000 places were taken up in less than 10 days after it opened for registration on 22 June.

A video posted by runwitme (@runwitme) on

“BSN is proud to become the exclusive Title Sponsor of the BSNPNM for the 5th year running. The new logo represents evolution and modernisation as well as our long term commitment to this event,” he said during the BSNPNM Press Conference and Hi- Tea today.

Siew added that the new logo has a minimalist, clean, strong and modern design to create a striking new look. The font is bold and solid which symbolises the maturing of the event. It can stand on its own and be recognisable.

“Meanwhile, the black colour looks powerful and represents strength, power and authority, while the icon of a human running and usage of font are in alignment to show unity, progression and balance,” he said.
Siew said BSNPNM is the only marathon that provides runners with insurance coverage during the event, offering them protection during the competition until they are safely back home after the race. The coverage is by BSN’s sister company Gibraltar BSN.

Speaking about the new 5km Glow Run, Siew said a total of 2,500 runners have signed up for the category and each runner will receive a glow stick, glow glasses and glow shoe laces for the race.
“The 5km Glow Run route will be lit and decorated with glowing lights with LED lighting cones placed along the route, and the BSN cheer team will also be placed at Jambatan Sri Gemilang just to add some joy and excitement for the runners and spectators,” he added.

Apart from the 5km Glow Run, BSNPNM 2015 will also include a full marathon (42.2 km), a half marathon (22.1 km) and a 10km Corporate CSR Run.

“The rebrand exercise reflects an effort to better embody the race’s evolution to a world class running event in line with some of the world’s best-known races,” Siew said.

In addition, the BSNPNM 2015 is also set to raise funds for the Department of Paediatrics in four hospitals, namely Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Selayang, Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang.
“At BSN, we believe in caring for the less fortunate, and helping to raise funds is one way to do this. We also want to build meaningful relationships, such as by supporting activities that people care about, including popular events like the Putrajaya Night Marathon,” he said.

The four beneficiaries for this year’s fundraising, through the 10km Corporate CSR Run, will receive donations from the collection of entry fees in the corporate bodies category. In 2014, a total of RM100,000 was collected through the participation of corporates and donated to the Persatuan Dyslexia Malaysia (PDM).

Media Release: Heroes Battlefield Obstacle Run 2015

Petaling Jaya, 20 Auguest 2015 - Obstacle runs are the new marathon. They go beyond just testing a runner’s stamina by adding challenges of strength and endurance. Paradox; a public relations, advertising and event agency based in Petaling Jaya, wants to take these challenges and turn them into an experience.

Paradox is introducing The Heroes Series, which will transport obstacle runners to different places and eras as they navigate a series of carefully constructed challenges to make it to the finish line.

The Heroes Series has its sights set on reinventing health and fitness in Malaysia by adding new elements that require reflexes, quick thinking and teamwork through real life scenarios. Founders and entrepreneurs, Aaron Chee, Gobinathan and Stanley Sin say that runners can expect unique scenarios and challenges like escaping from a prison building or a shipwreck through the lifetime of the series.

To kickstart the series, the organisers launched Heroes Battlefield, the first run of the series, a 10 km, 20 obstacle run at the Sepang International Circuit. It is themed around an evacuation from a battlefield where runners will have to go through clouds from smoke grenades and possible enemy fire while testing their mental and physical strength under pressure.

No detail was spared to make the experience as authentic as possible with simulated gunfire sound effects, army captains who shout orders and battle cries, and wounded soldiers whom you can help to earn extra badges. (Yes look out for mini missions along the way)

Heroes Battlefield will be happening 31 October 2015 at Sepang International Circuit. If you think you have what it takes to survive the battle, sign-up now at myheroesseries.com and visit www.facebook.com/myheroesseries to stay updated on the event. Tickets will be on sale 20th August 2015.

Be part of the action now on social media. Just search for MYHEROESSERIES on facebook (www.facebook.com/myheroesseries), Twitter (www.twitter.com/myheroesseries) or Instagram (www.instagram.com/myheroesseries) for the latest on Heroes Battlefield and upcoming Heroes Series obstacle runs.

Media Release: Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2015’s Mobile Application Goes Live Today

12 August 2015, Singapore – For the very first time, runners at the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore SCMS) 2015 can prepare for the nation’s largest annual mass participation event with the help of an interactive SCMS 2015 mobile application.

Once downloaded on smart phones, the application, designed by the Marathon’s Official IT Consultancy TCS can immediately become a runner’s dependable personal coach through its unique training functionality that offers a 16-week customisable fitness plan, which begins on 17 August, leading up to the marathon on 6 December.

The interval training-based programme, designed by professional coaches from Official Fitness Partner: Journey Fitness Company, will alternate between short bursts of fast runs and slower, longer jogs interspersed with resting periods, which will boost an individual’s distance running capabilities and capacity.

Training programmes on the application can be personalised according to each participant’s running experience, goals for the race, and commitment to train. Their training experience will also be enhanced through a series of unique user-friendly features that come with the application such as a GPS map for each session, audio cues to keep runners focused and real time analysis of the performance of each run. The ‘Live Tracking feature will also be included in this year’s app prior to event day, giving family and friends the chance to follow and support each participant live on race day.

Chris Robb, CEO of Spectrum Worldwide, SCMS 2015 Event Organiser, commented: “The all-new SCMS2015 mobile app is very exciting, and is now able to take on the role of a training companion and sit side-by-side with the participants on this memorable journey. The real time access to training data also gives runners the opportunity to train like a pro and pace their practice runs. We strongly believe that the unique features will improve the marathon experience, and make the app a massive hit among participants.”

The app works seamlessly across most social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, which allows for easy collaboration and interaction with fellow runners and running communities. Runners can also record the details of their training and track their progress to share with their friends on Facebook, making it one of the most fun, interactive and personable smart phone apps in marathon running.

In addition to the features as a training programme and a fitness coach, the app will also contain auxiliary information like the latest event news, weather data and FAQs which will be useful to runners when scheduling their training sessions, allowing them to stay up to date with the latest developments.
