Photos: Dato' Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim Won Second Place in Larian Tahun Baru 1Malaysia 2013

Unlike other VIPs in the past who came, did the flag off and left, our "beloved" Information, Communications, and Culture Minister, Dato' Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim decided that he would win some trophies for himself and his family.

So, he turned up with his wifey, Datin Seri Utama Masnah Rais and two kids - Ku Ariff and Ku Lin. Could anyone verify the identities of the two kids? We think they are Rais' grandchildren.

Warm up exercise. Can you spot Zed Zaidi at the back?

So, off they went running sight-seeing one loop around Dataran Merdeka (about 1km) while the rest of the runners did 7 or 5km depending on the category.

Dato' Jalaluddin Hassan was in the same VIP category too but he must be heartbroken for having beaten by a boy and Rais. Huhuhu!

Hwaaaaarrrr! I'm the king of the world!

VIP Men winners: 1st - Ku Ariff, 2nd Dato' Seri Utama Dr.Rais Yatim (Information, Communications, and Culture Minister), 3rd Dato' Seri Kamaruddin Siaraf (Secretary of The Ministry of Malaysian Information, Communication Culture)

First prize female VIP - Ku Lin. Good girl!

Second prize goes to wifey.......Datin Seri Utama Masnah Rais!

VIP Women winners: 1st - Ku Lin, 2nd Datin Seri Utama Masnah Rais (wife), 3rd Datuk Dr Rothiah Omar (Deputy Secretary of Information Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture)

What do you think? Do you think they won the trophies by their running power and stamina? FYI, This IS a road race aka running competition!

There are a few other dubious @$$-kissing categories were presented to the VIPS.

This fler won the most sexiest runner. Can you believe this? Perhaps he was picked by the number on his bib??? Mercy!

And this makcik won the most "comel" (cute) category?
All the winners bring home huge hampers like this.

From our observation, the trophies for the VIP are much more intricate in the design and expensive looking compared to those won by the real runner, which look like those cheap plastic trophies from the school sports day.

You can throw the tagline "Rakyat didahulukan, Pencapaian diutamakan" out the window this 2013 and adopt "VIPs didahulukan, kroni diutamakan". Sigh!

Anyway, this will be out last post for 2012. Let's do something with our votes next year!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2013!

We Went Shopping at Brooks Today.....

We went shopping at the Brooks outlet at Sunway Pyramid today with the RM500 voucher that we won from the Blog With Brooks contest.

Since we have too many pairs of running shoes at home, we have decided to invest on some running technical apparels. Sort of to motivate us to run more in the coming mew year 2013. Gone were the days when we run wearing those stuffy cotton T-shirt and pants. Apparels for running have much evolved from the simple cotton sweat shirt or shorts to an array of techno-inspired and fantastically-named gears.

Check out our loot!

Brooks EZ T Running (RM89)

Looks like the grey cotton shirts that we used to gym. This shirt is made of material softer and lighter than cotton and way more technically advanced. Unlike cotton that retains sweat, this super-soft moisture-moving fabric wicks away sweat, hence leaving the body cooler. The flatlock seams prevent chafing. We love the relax fit that just drapes over the body but the classic "running" print is really the factor that made us decide to bring it to the cashier.

Brooks HVAC Synergy SS Power (RM149)

This is a sunblock in the form of a shirt. Heheh! This running shirt features integrated UV-protection in the shoulder and chest area, blocking 95% of harmful UV rays.

And that's not all: X-STATIC®, the Silver Fiber™ threads in the underarm and waist area make this a running shirt that is anti-bacterial and thermo-regulating, and prevents unpleasant odours. No more stinky shirt after a sweat-drenched run!

Brooks Sherpa Short III Black/ Nighlife (RM119)

Made of comfy lightweight fabric and combines reflective details that keep you visible at night.

We love the two rear holster pockets to store in our energy gels or keys while doing an LSD. FYI, the usual inner pocket is there too.

Brooks HVAC Synergy Short II (RM159)

This pair of shorts come highly recommended by the store manager, Manson. And the most expensive ones too! LOL!

Just like the HVAC Synergy shirt, these shorts are so light, yet so heavy on technology. Holster pockets tote gels, while the soft inner lining embedded with X-STATIC®, the Silver Fiber™, regulates your temperature, wicks moisture, and fights odor. Unlike the shirt, this one doesn't have UV protection for your bum. Heheh!

We are very happy with our purchase. The total bill came up to RM516. So, with the voucher, we only paid RM16 for all these stuff. :)

Oooh...can't wait to go for a run! RUN HAPPY!

Kudos to Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff) which has successfully organised its Malakoff 12km and 7km, Kuala Lumpur Run (Malakoff KL Run) early this morning. The race brought together a record of more than 3,200 runners for a day of excitement, competition as well as fun.

adidas NEO Label Signs Selena Gomez As New Style Icon And Designer

Kuala Lumpur, 12th December 2012 – adidas NEO is set to rock the fashion scene with it’s recent partnership with youth icon Selena Gomez!

adidas NEO Label has recently appointed Selena Gomez as its new global style icon and guest designer through a three-year partnership until the end of 2015.

Selena will work with NEO to design and develop seasonal ranges that consumers and her fans will love, beginning Fall/Winter 2013. She will also be the face of four seasonal collections throughout the year and will appear in print, digital, retail, and outdoor campaigns to debut in February 2013. She will identify her favorite pieces, the first of many opportunities for Selena to communicate her personal style with fans.

Selena Gomez said adidas NEO Label is a new brand for teens and their looks are fun and easy to wear, making it a perfect brand for her lifestyle.

“It is a great partnership for me because NEO really cares about style and having fun with fashion and allowing you to be yourself. This is something that’s always been important to me and is important to my fans, too: knowing they can express themselves through wearing whatever clothes they want and feel good about themselves.

“I am really enjoying being involved with the design process and NEO is letting me have fun with this. I get to wear the clothes first and have a voice and an opinion and I can’t wait to see the results of our new collection. I’m excited that it also allows my fans to be involved and they can come with me on this journey,” she said.

Hermann Deininger, Chief Marketing Officer adidas Brand, said the fundamental inspiration for adidas NEO Label is teenage culture – seeking excitement, adventure, and unexpected surprises.

“Selena showed how much these traits express her own playful and fun personality by ‘high jinxing’ Los Angeles. Teens everywhere admire her natural and enduring sense of fashion and style as well as her compelling charisma and warmth. We are thrilled to have Selena help us spread the spirit of adidas NEO Label worldwide and celebrate the power of self-expression through designing her own collections with us,” he said.

Fans can watch Selena ‘high jinxing’ Los Angeles on www.facebook.com/adidasneolabel, together with the chance to enter a competition to meet Selena Gomez at a NEO fashion event in New York in February 2013. Fans will be asked to watch Selena’s high-jinks film and answer five questions about it over two weeks for a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip for themselves and a friend.

Visit www.adidas.com/NEO to stay up to date on all things NEO, including the brand’s fresh new looks and Selena Gomez’s seasonal favorites beginning 2013.
