Che Ros Jeans Runner is no stranger to the local running community. It is quite easy to spot him since he is the only runner in Malaysia who runs his races in denim jeans!
On 1 January 2019, instead of his usual jeans, he donned his complete prison officer uniform for his 5km run in the Ultron New Year Run at Dataran Merdeka.
Che Ros, a Kajang Prison Officer has been very active since his school days. He used to participate in mainly sprint events then and has fallen in love with long distance running in the year 1989. He has been representing his department in running events ever since.
According to Che Ros, he runs every day, clocking around 10km daily depending on his work schedule. If he has work in the morning, then he will schedule his run in the evening and vice versa. If he is not running, he likes to cycle.
He started running in his jeans for fun because nobody has done it before. To our surprise, running in a pair of jeans doesn't pose any major problem to him. He has six pairs of jeans which he put on rotation.
Che Ros has completed the Penang Bridge International Marathon (42km) in a pair of jeans about four years ago! Such an amazing feat, isn't it?
He swapped his jeans with his work uniform for the Ultron New Year Run 2019 as a remembrance for his 55th birthday which fell on 1 Jan 2019.
We think he has another record in his hand, apart from being the first Malaysian to complete a marathon in a pair of jeans, he is the only runner who has completed a 5km road race dressed in full prison officer uniform. Malaysia Book of Records, where are you? Heheh!
Congratulations and Happy 55th Birthday to Che Ros Jeans Runner. Do say hello to him when you see him running in his jeans down the street.
