Now in its third edition, MSMR has evolved into more than just a run—it’s a lifestyle experience that blends fitness, fashion and culture. With participants from over 26 countries and an expected 30,000 visitors soaking up the vibes, the event has become a global postcard of Malaysia’s warmth and creativity. Whether you were sprinting in the 5KM Speed Run or dancing your way through the 5KM Fun Run, the sarong was the star of the show—worn with pride, flair and a touch of personal style.

Eddy Casmady, the visionary behind MSMR, shared how the event has grown from a themed run into a full-blown cultural festival. “It’s no longer just about running—it’s about celebrating who we are, together,” he said. And that spirit was palpable. Families, tourists, and athletes alike wrapped themselves in sarongs, creating a stunning visual of unity and tradition. It wasn’t just a fashion statement—it was a shared heartbeat.

MSMR’s post-run concert exploded with energy as blazing guitars, pulsing lights, and a roaring crowd set the tone—led by rock powerhouse Bunkface and a lineup that kept KLCC buzzing late into the night. |
Earlier in the month, the EKI JETOUR X BSC Relay Run warmed things up with a playful twist on team racing. But the main event on Malaysia Day was where the magic truly happened. With local music echoing through the city and food stalls serving up Malaysian favourites, MSMR felt more like a street party than a race. It was a place where heritage met high energy, and where every step taken was a tribute to the country’s vibrant identity.

From its debut in February to the Sarawak edition in July, MSMR has quickly become a lifestyle movement—one that celebrates tradition with a modern beat. And if this year’s turnout is any indication, the sarong isn’t just making a comeback—it’s leading the way.
And the sarong celebration continues—MSMR is already gearing up for its 2026 edition, promising another unforgettable evening of movement, music and Malaysian pride. Set to take place on Saturday, 19 September 2026 at KLCC, the next Malaysia Sarong Music Run will feature two categories: a breezy 3KM and a spirited 5KM, both kicking off at 5.30PM.
