The 16th Annual Charity Walk/ Jog/ Wheel-athon With The Disabled 2009

What? 16th Charity Walk/ Jog/ Wheel-a-Thon with the Disabled 2009

Where? Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur

When? 8 Nov 2009

Who? Organised by Spastic Children's Association of Selangor & F.T., Majlis

Kebajikan dan Pembangunan Masyarakat, Selangor, with the co-operation of , The

Federal Territory Amateur Athletic Association and Welfare based NGOs.

Why? To raise fund for Spastic Children's Association of Selangor & FT

We were "entertained" by the DBKL Band, just like last year's event.

They played some patriotic marching songs including Makhluk Tuhan Paling Seksi! No kidding! :)

Led by the DBKL Band, we did a march before the actual race....around the Dataran Merdeka area.

Our First Lady was mentioned in the banner as the Guest of Honour, but I didn't see her during the march. Perhaps she was busy setting her mane? :)

There were two flag-off session. One for the runners and the other for the wheel-chair bound participants.

Can't think of a caption for this picture. Help anyone?

This guy was rempit-ing all the way. :)

A "spastic" is a person with cerebral palsy. This is a disorder of movement appearing in the early years of life. It is due to damage or failure to develop normally in a small part of the brain controlling these activities.

Cerebral palsy is quite prevalent in Malaysia as it affecting 1 in 100 live births, as compared to 2 in 1000 live births in developed country.

This disorder does not caused by genetic but in fact it could be due to many other causes.

These children can still grow up like other children but unfortunately, they will be facing problems in the movement development, speech, taking care of themselves and sometimes, can become mentally retarded.

Spastic Children's Association of Selangor & Federal Territory is a self-reliant organization that strives to help every parent who has difficulties raising children with Cerebral Palsy.

Their charitable efforts do not go unknown and many individuals as well private companies contribute either in kind, monetary assistance or manpower. You too can make a difference in these children's life. Please click HERE for details.

Shoeless runner, Tan Wah Sing and Ronnie See. Both won first prize in their respective category.

Here are more random pictures of runners dashing towards the finish line.

I enjoyed photographing the race and always try my best to attend and support these type of charity event.

I didn't stay back for the performances after the race as I had to rush to Mid Valley for a movie. I won two tickets to watch Phobia 2, a Thai horror flick. I enjoyed the show very much! Highly recommended!

Now check out the video.

ENJOY!

See you next year. :)
