KUALA LUMPUR, 2nd October 2013 – Come 20th October, Malaysians throughout the nation will unite for the year’s most highly anticipated regional run organized by adidas Malaysia titled the adidas ‘King Of The Road’ (KOTR) 2013. The KOTR Run will take place on a 16.8KM and 10 KM stretch across the New Pantai Highway (NPE) starting and ending at the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre.
adidas Malaysia together with the New Pantai Highway (NPE) will be working closely with the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) and Royal Malaysia Police Force (PDRM) from Petaling Jaya, Subang and Kuala Lumpur districts to effectively close off approximately 50 junctions to ensure a smooth and safe run for the participants. The highway will be officially closed to motorists starting from KM0.3 of NPE Highway at Subang Jaya all the way towards Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur in both directions. During the KOTR run, the NPE Traffic Team and the police force will also patrol these areas to further ensure the safety of the runners.
Preparations are underway by the concessionaire New Pantai Expressway Sdn Bhd to alleviate traffic woes as motorists are diverted to other routes. The NPE Highway traffic closures begin from 3.00 am. However, traffic will reopen in full by 11.00 am. All this will happen only on the morning of Sunday, 20th October 2013.
In a joint statement issued today, adidas Malaysia said, “Alternative routes have been planned for the traffic diversions to facilitate the mobility of the local communities along the NPE Highway. We are working closely with the highway concessionaire and joint-sponsor, as well as with the support from Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) and the Traffic Division of the Royal Malaysia Police Force (PDRM) to ensure smooth traffic flow.”
The adidas King Of The Road 2013 is part of an international event conceptually organized by adidas across five South East Asian countries. This year’s run will also see Malaysia as the final leg and host of the adidas King Of The Road Southeast Asia 2013, which will see the reigning champions from Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia competing to be crowned this year’s Regional adidas King of the Road. The race will mark the third run held on the NPE Highway by popular demand from participants. The adidas King Of The Road 2013 is also in celebration of the smart partnership between adidas Malaysia and IJM group of companies in conjunction of IJM’s 30th anniversary.
Meanwhile, the 11,000 participants, their supporters and spectators have been advised to plan ahead and arrive early at the venue at Sunway Pyramid before 5.00 am to avoid missing the run and fun. Thereafter, the roads leading to the starting point will be closed and runners, supporters and spectators will need to find alternative parking nearby.
Further details on the parking areas are included in the runners’ guide which can be downloaded at www.adidaskingoftheroad.com/my or obtained during race pack collection days from 17th October to 19th October 2013 from 10am – 8pm at the Blue concourse of Sunway Pyramid Shopping Center.
