SINGAPORE – Parents and children attending the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) 2016 Kids Dash will be in for a treat, as organisers revealed a host of surprises and activities lined up for this year’s race.
For the first time, the 600m Kids Dash will take place along Orchard Road which has been closed especially for this event. An expected 5,000 young runners – thematically dressed in elf-inspired green SCMS tees and reindeer antlers - will race amidst the sparkling Christmas lights from outside Ngee Ann City towards the finish line at ION Orchard.
Mr Steven Goh, Executive Director of Orchard Road Business Association said, “We’re pleased to be able to facilitate a full road closure on 3rd December for the Kids Dash this year, and give the children an opportunity to race down an iconic street like Orchard Road. The lights, decorations and costumes will, no doubt, add to the festive cheer and we look forward to the children enjoying themselves.”
SCMS organisers have also transformed Ngee Ann Civic Plaza into a great Christmas carnival packed with family-friendly activities such as face painting and hoop the snowman, festive performances by juggling elves and meet-and-greet sessions with Santa Claus.
Geoff Meyer, Managing Director of Ironman Asia said, “We hope that the Christmas-themed Kids Dash will be a huge hit among parents and children and provide a fun-filled run for everyone. The unique race outfits, atmosphere and carnival coming together will make this the most memorable Dash ever.”
Christmas this year also comes early for 30 lucky Kids Dash participants to experience soccer training the Liverpool-way on 6 November / Sunday. Standard Chartered Bank presents this exclusive opportunity for Kids Dash participants (aged 6-13) to pick up soccer skills from Liverpool

Kids Dash takes place on 3rd December / Saturday from 6pm onwards, allowing parents to accompany their children before taking part in their SCMS Race Day on Sunday, a day later.
