Parlimen Malaysia Opens Its Doors for Inaugural 5km Larian Cergas This July!

Looking for a unique running route that blends fitness with national pride? For the very first time, Parlimen Malaysia, through the Secretariat of the Malaysian Youth Parliament (PBMy), is set to host the inaugural Larian Cergas Parlimen on 25 July 2026.

Organized in collaboration with My Creative Moments, this historic 5km fun run offers a rare opportunity for the public to experience a flag-off right from the iconic grounds of Parlimen Malaysia.

While the event heavily focuses on empowering the youth—specifically targetting those aged 15 to 30, including high schoolers, tertiary education students (IPTA/IPTS/TVET) and youth organizations—it is warmly open to everyone. Runners can look forward to rubbing shoulders with Members of Parliament, government agencies, corporate bodies, local running clubs and the general public in a true display of community unity.

To kickstart the countdown, an official jersey handover ceremony was recently led by YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Ahmad Husaini bin Abdul Rahman (Chief Administrator of Parlimen Malaysia), witnessed by YB Senator Dato Awang Bemee bin Awang Ali Basah (President of the Dewan Negara) and YB Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Johari bin Abdul (Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat). 

This symbolic gesture highlights the legislative body's commitment to stepping outside the assembly halls and into the community, using sports to champion both healthy living and democratic awareness.

More Than Just a Run

Participants won't just be clocking in kilometers; they will be stepping into an immersive civic experience. The event line-up features:

• A mass recital of the Youth Pledge: "Suara Belia, Suara Demokrasi" (Youth Voice, Democratic Voice).
• Interactive democracy exhibitions.
• Various youth community activities from across the nation.

The run also serves as a gateway to promote registrations for the Malaysian Youth Parliament (PBMy) for individuals aged 18 to 30, providing a real platform for the next generation to sharpen their leadership and debating skills. Ultimately, it breathes life into the "Merakyatkan Parlimen" (People’s Parliament) agenda—bridging the gap between the government and the rakyat through inclusivity and transparency.
