It’s official, the newly launched HUAWEI Pura 80 Series is running on the latest Kirin 9020 chipset. The confirmation comes hot after the series’ global debut, ending weeks of rumours around what processor is powering Huawei’s latest flagship devices.
The Kirin 9020, designed by Hisilicon, isn’t just another chip, it’s a finely tuned beast built with one high-performance Taishan core clocked at 2.5GHz, three balanced Taishan cores at 2.15GHz, and four efficiency Taishan cores at 1.6GHz. Two of its main Taishan cores support hyperthreading, enabling them to juggle dual tasks simultaneously. In other words, some systems may even recognise it as a 2+6+4 configuration instead of its actual 1+3+4 layout.
For graphics, the Kirin 9020 packs the Maleoon 920 GPU, running at 840MHz, promising smoother visuals and seamless performance – perfect for the Pura 80’s photography, videography, and entertainment ambitions.
Moving on from the Kirin 9020, Huawei is already expected to unleash an even bigger and faster Kirin 9030 in the upcoming Mate Series later this year. If the 9020 is the warm-up act, the Kirin 9030* is tipped to be the showstopper – so fans can keep their eyes peeled for the next leap in Huawei innovation.
