Celebrunner: Byron Carter @ 8TV Showdown Dance Workshop

Meet Byron Carter! Dance extraordinaire who has worked with Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Destiny's Child, Amerie, Rihanna etc. He is part of the dance entourage for Mary J Blige's Music Saved My Life Concert tonight.

Thanks to 8TV Showdown, we get to meet him in person and see him coach some aspiring dancers in a 3 hours workshop at Celebrity Fitness, Lot 10 yesterday.

Since we couldn't get Mary J Blige to give us a running pose, we have to make do with one of her dancers-lah. LOL! Just kidding!

Byron Carter is a celebrity in his own right. He is from Cincinati, Ohio, started off dancing for Destiny's Child, before becoming a regular for Beyonce.

Heheh! Hail Queen of Hip Hop Soul - Mary J Blige!

She is in town for her Music Saved My Life World Tour! The media conference was held at official hotel, Mandarin Oriental on 7 Feb 2011. Mary J Blige (MJB) arrived at KLIA the night before.

I have always been a fan of MJB since her "What's the 411?" days. I have her CDs to prove it. LOL! Back in those days, people still go out and buy those silver shiny discs.

I used to collect her CD singles especially during her "No More Drama" days where she collaboated with kick-ass remixer Thunderpuss...who transformed her from an R&B Queen to anthemic dancefloor club goddess! I remember the days when I traveled all the way to Singapore just to raid Tower Records and HMV for CD singles. CD Singles were never released in Malaysia due to low demand. But now, physical CD singles are already extinct, just like Tower Records.

This is the woman who can voices what we can only feel. MJB lifts spirit, touch lives and evokes emotions with her soulful voice. And yes, her music can be a life saver too!

In the press conference, she confirmed that she would be playing jazz legend, Nina Simone in a movie. However, the movie is still pending due to funding issues.

"The Music Saved My Life Tour" is the ninth concert tour by MJB, covering North America, Europe, Asia and Australasia to support her ninth studio album, Stronger with Each Tear. The tour's title comes from her personal viewpoint of music after her battles with drug and alcohol abuse.

Wow! Sounds like a great movie. It is not a fiction but a documentary with footage gathered over several years (that begins with Budhia aged three, and ends when he’s aged eight). A true story about an amazing boy! I hope this movie make it to our shores, at GSC International Screens the very least.

Celebrunner: Nadine Ann Thomas Hip Hop DJ Debut @ Miss Universe Malaysia 2011 Coronation Party

Look at her go! Isn't she gorgeous?

She is Nadine Ann Thomas, Miss Universe 2010. We can't say former or ex-Miss Universe without the MUM director giving us the evil eyes because according to her once you are a Miss Universe, you will be a Miss Universe forever. Once a new queen is crowned, the queen from previous year is not stepping down but just stepping aside for the new queen to shine. Hahah! Well, we love the concept. :)

According to Nadine in her "stepping aside" speech, she has tried modelling, hosting, and even acting in a movie but she feels that her true calling is music. Nadine wants to be the first female hip hop DJ!

Nadine has been going intensive DJ training Under the watchful eyes of Dj Ash and Joe Flizzow.

The Miss Universe Malaysia coronaton party marks her debut in the scene as DJ. She is trading her beauty queen tiara with the bulky headphones that DJs wear.

This queen is gonna take ova the dancefloor!

Soon, you will be bobbing your heads and shaking your booties to the tunes she plays! I wonder where her upcoming gig?

Celebrunner: Tiz Zaqyah @ TV3 70's Serial Drama "Gemilang"

Isn't she adorable doing the running pose in her kebaya?

Meet Tiz Zaqyah who is famous for her work in the popular TV3 drama series Nur Kasih. Now she is back in another hit drama series, Gemilang set in the 70's.

Tiz Zaqyah plays Asma, a young teacher in a private institution called Gemilang which is set up to help poor students to get education and to succeed in life.

The 13 episode drama is already aired since 24 January 2011. It is written by Mira Mustaffa and directed by the renowned director, Kabir Bhatia.

Kamal Adli was a little late for the launching of Gemilang. We were told he had just arrived from Penang. Shahz Jaszle who is the lead of the show didn't attend the launch. He was in France for shooting.

It was nice to meet Dayang Nurfaizah's protege, Adi again. He has been picked by the director of Gemilang to sing the theme song called, Suatu Ketika.

The launch of Gemilang was held at the Bukit Damansara Community Centre. It was transformed into a classroom for the launch. :)

Rock group Kristal provided some entertainment. Personally, I find the songs are too rockish for the 70's. I sort of imagine the 70's is filled with dreamy ballads with acoustic guitars and of course, disco and funk. Not rock kapak!
