Press Release: The New Nike LunarGlide+ 4

THE NEW LUNARGLIDE+ 4 TAKES THE EVERYDAY RUN TO AN ELITE LEVEL

Lunarlon Dynamic Support system and reinvented Nike Flywire technology offer cutting-edge performance with a glove-like fit

This summer when the greatest athletes in the world compete for career defining victories, runners everywhere can hit the street and log miles with the same technologies these athletes use to reach their peak. These innovations live in the all-new fourth generation of the Nike LunarGlide+, featuring reinvented Flywire technology and the innovative Dynamic Support cushioning system.

Whether at record breaking speeds or on a long run, fit is paramount. Sprinters and middle distance runners in London will race in the Nike Zoom Superfly R4 and Nike Zoom Victory Elite, respectively, both with revolutionary Nike Flywire – a technology also utilized in the Nike LunarGlide+ 4. The dynamic cables move with the foot, offering support while minimizing weight and bulk. And since it wraps under the arch and loops into the laces, Flywire technology is customizable for a glove-like fit that helps eliminate the gaps of a traditional upper.

The new LunarGlide+ 4 is really the best of both worlds. You've got amazing fit and support on an unbelievable ride with the super responsive Lunarlon cushioning.
-Rob Williams, Sr. Footwear Designer for Nike Running

In the midsole, Lunarlon foam stars in the Dynamic Support platform and provides super plush, responsive cushioning through the miles. Lunarlon – the result of collaboration between Nike designers and the Nike Sports Research Lab – was first introduced on the global stage four years ago as the midsole cushioning system in the Nike LunaRacer+ and Nike LunarTrainer+ running shoes.

The LunarGlide+ 4’s Dynamic Support system is a two-part midsole developed to provide superior stability, comfort and cushioning. Opposing wedges of foam (Lunarlon and firmer carrier foam) move the runner from soft to stable as the heel lands and the foot flexes down. The innovative system provides a gradual transition and a smooth ride for a variety of gaits.

The shoe's designers focused on fit, support and stability in the upper as well. The floating heel clip has become a staple of the features. Attached to the firmer foam carrier, the clip moves with the foot to help with the heel rolling inward or outward.

Large expanses of single-layer engineered mesh provide ventilation and support where runners need it and give the shoe a purposefully smooth look. Designers also obsessed over style, and the sleek look of the LunarGlide+ 4 helps ensure a long run looks good, too.

The Nike LunarGlide+ 4 is part of the Nike Lunarlon Collection: a range of men’s and women’s performance shoes that includes the Nike LunarGlide+ 4 (running), Nike Hyperdunk (basketball), Nike LunarTR1 and Nike Lunar HyperWorkout+ (training).
Since this new version is also Nike+ enabled, runners will be able to track, compare and share their runs through nikeplus.com, the world’s largest running community with more than 6 million members.

The Lunarglide +4 retails at RM409 and is available at all Nike stores nationwide for the Fall 2012 season between July-September 2012.

News: Roasters Chicken Run 2012 For An EGG-Cellent Cause!

~ Quirky egg-balancing fun run raises more than RM 58,000 for kids nutrition and tuition ~

Kuala Lumpur, 9 July 2012 – More than 2,900 runners of all ages took to the trail around Desa Water Park for a good cause at the 8th ROASTERS Chicken Run yesterday. Balancing an egg on a cone each, runners had to ensure that the egg remained intact when they completed the designated route of 4.8km (adult and junior categories) or 2.8km (kids aged from 7 to 12 years). Raising a total of RM 58,000 this year, the amount of funds raised greatly depended on the number of participants. For every applicant of the ROASTERS Chicken Run, KRR pledged RM20.

“The ROASTERS Chicken Run has a fantastic and successful track record. This year is the 8th time which Kenny Rogers ROASTERS have worked together with the community to improve the quality of lives to those in need. We owe much thanks to our supporters, the runners and partners who have made this event a success. It gives me great pleasure to announce that the funds raised from the ROASTERS Chicken Run 2012 will benefit the Little Yellow Flower foundation of Malaysia,” said Dato’ Francis Lee, Executive Director of Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd who was present to officially flag off the charity event..

The Little Yellow Flower (previously, Hope Education Foundation) was founded in 2007 by international artistes, Valen Hsu, Gigi Leung, Charlie Yeung and Malaysia’s very own, Lee Sinje. The vision of this charity is to provide under privileged children with the opportunity of a better future through love, happiness, good nutrition and a better education.

Funds from the ROASTERS Chicken Run 2012 will go to the Nutrition, Lunch and Tuition programme, targeted to benefit urban families which are living in poverty. Impoverished families living in urban areas still exist in Malaysia, many of which do not earn enough to support a wholesome diet for the children.

At KRR, they have a strong company value of wanting you to be healthy. The Nutrition Lunch and Tuition programme works in line with KRR’s values towards healthier lifestyles through wholesome eating and balanced diets. KRR will work with the Little Yellow Flower foundation in providing children with the opportunity to escape the poverty cycle by providing them with wholesome meals at least once a day and extra tuition lessons and to improve their education and future prospects.

KRR will also be providing more reading materials and books to the “Reading Wonderland” programme under the Little Yellow Flower Foundation. The Reading Wonderland is essentially a community library and information resource for underprivileged children to develop a love for reading and self enrichment.

In previous years, the ROASTERS Chicken Run has successfully raised more than RM365,000 for a variety of charitable organizations and homes such as Tabung Kebajikan Pesakit HUKM, Pediatric Unit HUKM (Oncology), Unit TUTUR – Aural Rehabilitation Centre for Hearing Impaired Children together with Yayasan Budi Peyayang Malaysia and House of Joy and Faith, Yayasan Sunbeams Home, Rumah Juara, Rumah Kanak-kanak Tengku Budriah, Rumah Sayangan, Malaysian National Kidney Foundation – Dialysis Treatment for the Young, Rumah Hope, Rumah Kebajikan Anbu Illam, Rumah Charis Ti-Ratana Welfare Society, and Tabung Kebajikan Pesakit PPUKM – Young Diabetic Patients.

The ROASTERS Chicken Run 2012 was made possible with the support of co-organiser, Desa Water Park, and supporting partners BCard, Berjaya Hotels & Resorts, Berjaya Air, High 5, H-Two-O, Milo, Nature Valley, Sport Toto Fitness Centre, Unilever Food Solutions & Yeo’s.

The ROASTERS Chicken Run is one of the many initiatives in the Kenny Rogers ROASTERS Community Chest Campaign, created in 2005 in aid of the less fortunate. For more information, call 03-2119 9888 or visit www.krr.com.my

News: Larian 40 Taman, 100km Reaches Its Halfway Point

Community running project “Larian 40 Taman, 100 Kilometer” reached its halfway point on 23rd June, 2012 when the 20th run was held at Taman Tasik Ampang Hilir in Kuala Lumpur. Launched on the 14th of January 2012, the project has held runs in eight different states including the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Selangor, Johor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Perak, Penang and Sabah.

Initiated by avid-runner and co-host of TV3’s morning talkshow “Malaysia Hari Ini”, M.Zulkifli Abd. Jalil, “Larian 40 Taman, 100 Kilometer” is a community running project that promotes healthy lifestyle and aims to get Malaysians all across the country to run at their neighbourhood parks with friends and family.

“We are definitely on track to hit 40 different parks by year-end which is our objective,” says Zulkifli. “We have also covered a distance of 58kms in the 20 runs so far, which is slightly ahead of the pace for the targeted 100kms.”

However, Zulkifli admits that response to the runs have been rather mixed. “At some parks, I get up to 50 people running with me, as was the case at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, while at other venues, only four or five would turn up. But this in no way has hampered my determination. I know it’s quite a commitment for casual runners to wake up early in the morning on weekends,” he says.

The runs are usually held on Saturday mornings and no prior registration is required. Everyone with a good pair of shoes and the desire to run or brisk walk is invited to join Zulkifli and other participants for a minimum distance of 2.5km. The invitations are sent out mainly via social media platforms including twitter and facebook.

Zulkifli himself has been enlightened by the experience so far. “The project has taken me to parks I had only heard about, and getting to run at all these places have been absolutely wonderful. Some of our parks are really world-class and it’s a shame if they are under-utilised,” he says. “And that really is part of the objective of this project, to promote a healthy lifestyle and to highlight the fact that more family-centric activities should and could be held at public parks rather than shopping malls.

“It also feels good when people tell me that this project has inspired them to finally start running”.

The project is self-funded by Zulkifli and at most venues, participants are also given free T-shirts as mementos. “Sometimes, I also do lucky draws just to make it more exciting. I’m also happy to see that the project has managed to put runners in touch with each other as well as making new friends.”

While the list of the next 20 parks has yet to be determined, Zulkifli invites everyone to visit the project’s blog at larian40taman.blogspot.com for the latest info, or to suggest venues to run. “To date, more than 300 people have joined the runs collectively, and I would like to see more Malaysians join us for the next 20 runs!”
